I visited BayView Healthcare in downtown St. Augustine about 6 months ago and that was very nice. It's on the bay so they have a dock that goes out into the water, which is just beautiful. I saw their assisted living and it's very nice and well organized. I talked to the people that were there and they were enjoying it. They offer free coffee and tea, they have brand-new carpeting, and the rooms were all redone. The dining area was cafeteria-style. They have beautiful decks outside looking over the water. They had a game room and I guess bingo is the hot thing there because they were all playing it when I went for a walk around the place. They have a pool and a huge, pretty courtyard where you could sit outside with your family.

My mother stayed in BayView Healthcare for several days, and she loved it. The people were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. She loved the food, I mean she raved about it. They had a snack bar that was right across from her room, and they had juices, cookies, and fruit. It was an older community, but it's been maintained really nice. When you look past the age of the place, the people are accommodating. When my mom wanted to take a shower, one of the staff members would ome in while she was getting in and out of the shower and she even stayed to help her get dressed. There was a housekeeper that would come in at least once a day, and she emptied her trash and straightened up anything she needed. The only thing she didn't like there was that she only had a bedroom.

BayView Healthcare was pretty, but the cost was prohibitive. My mother has been in rehab there before and they did a very good job. The physical therapists were very good, personable, and made her feel important. They have art activities and groups come in to sing and different things. We didn't have any complaints about the food.
