I would not consider Paradise Care Cottage. It was recommended to us by the previous location that my sister was in. It was more like a nursing home. It was not any place I would put her. I would rate it very low. It was old and it was small. They didn't have much for the residents to do or places to go. For some people, it would be perfect depending on what your needs are. But I didn't find the residents to have a very good level of cognitive ability. So it was more nursing home than assisted living.

I toured Paradise Care Cottage and I would not recommend that to anyone. It was awful. When I toured that place it was a mess. People were out in the parking lot in wheelchairs, and they were just in and out of the building roaming around. Nobody was keeping track of them. It was terrible. I would never give them a good recommendation. It reminded me very much of a nursing home. It was very big, and they did not seem like they had enough staff. They just had no control over the patient. People are getting in and out of the building, and nobody questioning it. They just don't seem to have a good handle of the patients there. And it did not look clean or very nice. It was not quite as residential as the other places; it was pretty close to the main road which was scary because if somebody wanders off they could end up in Route 1 wandering around and they probably would not know it. It was not a very good experience touring that place at all. The staff was pleasant, but I think they were just overwhelmed because they have so many patients and not enough people to handle it. The staff were friendly.

My mother is at Paradise Care Cottage. Her apartment is always very clean. They provide activities and three meals a day, the nurses take care of her basic needs, and they have music. The food looks okay.

My Mom just moved in and they are giving her 45 day notice to move, said they cannot care for her?? I would think they would check the patient's medical condition prior to admission? My guess would be that my Mom is a retired RN and not demented at all, she just has physical issues(due to her tireless, selfless years in nursing) and lung issues and they kept messing up her medications and she would correct them and they did not like that. Pretty scary that they may have patients staying there that are not of sound mind and they give them their medications as well.

The person I was supposed to meet in Paradise Care wasn't there, and they didn't do tours on Saturday, which was the day I was scheduled. However, the CAN on staff gave me a tour. The residents all appeared to be on medication, and there was an overpowering smell. It was older and looked good and warm. The residents were outside and seemed happy, but I wasn't very impressed.

Paradise Care Cottage was not very clean. The staff was polite. The residents seemed happy. The price was about even with our income, and the staff member lowered the monthly price, but it was still too high.
