I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is at The Gardens of Port St. Lucie. It was the only place in Port St. Lucie that had more than six employees who were Hispanic speakers. It looks like a hotel. It doesn't look like a nursing home. It has a nice entrance. I'm really pleased. One medication needs to be refilled, so they called me ahead of time. From that day to the third day that I'm going to the place with the medication, at least two more people have been asking me, "Don't forget the medication." They're really, really paying attention when somebody needs to have a refill or an update. In general, the staff is really friendly. A big percentage of people really care about what they're doing. In the kitchen, the servers are really nice. My dad doesn't speak English, but they try their best to communicate with him. I don't have any bad experience so far and it's been almost three months. I'm pleased with the service that they're doing. It has an inside garden and an outside garden. My dad likes to walk, so once a week, they go out and walk around the neighborhood with the employees. They have their own barbershop, beauty salon, and a nice restaurant. They give you a menu. They have two options to eat, and they have extras if you want to change what you eat. They have an area for art. They do painting and crafting. They have rooms for dominoes and board games. They have a schedule that they send to the patients weekly. They have daily activities, people from outside singing, do trivia, and do a little magic show. Every single day, they have at least two or three different activities. The food is not bad, but I expect a little more variety. They're trying to be as healthy as possible with the elderly. I wish it were a little healthier, like decreasing the amount of carbs. I like the portions because they're not too big, not too small. It's one of the least expensive compared with the small houses and big facilities. We paid $3,800, so for the service that he's receiving, I think it's really good.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to The Gardens of Port St. Lucie's assisted living facility. I chose it because of the convenience of being close to my family. This is the most affordable one and also close to my doctors. I live near Port St. Lucie, so I'm familiar with this area. The staff members are wonderful. The cleanliness and the structure of the building are very good. They have people come in and sing, and we also do church. They have everything, and they're awesome. The people here are great. It's just a friendly place, very comfortable, and makes you feel at home. This is the best one I've been to.

The staff is very caring and learn what each resident needs and wants. The rooms are a good size enough room for a bed, chairs or a couch and a small table. The room has a small refrigerator and a good size bathroom. The building and rooms are not fancy by any means but they comfortable, well lit and windows with a view. The food is very good again not fancy but many of the residence are not into eating fancy. My mother is very comfortable here. What i like best is how much the staff cares about the residents and how well they take care of them

I was grateful to find this place for my dear friend. He was shown such respect and care by the staff while he was there. He made many friends while he was there and always well of the staff. The staff always treated him and I with the most respect.

I visited this facility

The Gardens of Port St. Lucie was very nice. The rooms were not quite big. We went to some of the activities that they invite the public to do, which was very nice. They put out a little spread for eating, and that was very good. Inside and outside it's very nice. There wasn't much storage space in the rooms. The staff was very nice. They had a library, a game room, and a piano or organ for people to use. They also had a gardening room that people could go in and learn how to garden, or grow plants on their own. They had a laundry room for the guests if they wanted to use it. There are church services on Sundays. And they have a bus that take the people to the stores, theaters, and different trips during the week.

My mom's moving into the Gardens of Port St. Lucie. I like it a lot. The facility is not too small and not too large. I thought the hallways and the elevators were dark.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was in the Gardens of Port St. Lucie for over a year. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I think sometimes though that they don’t have enough time for each of the people. There weren’t enough activities as far as I was concerned; but other than that, everyone was absolutely very polite, very nice, very caring, and the food was very good. Mother has dementia, she is incontinent, and has diabetes. They did not keep her in a hospital bed like the others wanted to do. Mother had her own little apartment with her own double bed, a chair, a little table. Inside they had a little refrigerator, and a microwave. She had a closet, and her own bathroom. That’s what I liked about it best.

I visited this facility

I visited The Gardens, and the woman I talked to was very brusque, so I didn’t feel like she was interested in my questions. I did go back a second time, and she took a lot more time with me. I think the people at the front desk were very friendly. There was a poker game going on with the residents when I went there. The last time I was there, the thing that was disturbing to me was I was shown a room, and there was a urine smell in the hall. The room was L-shaped with a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. They could have a little bit more space. I talked to some of the residents; they were happy with the food, and it looked fine as well.

I went to the Gardens. The lady was extremely nice. She showed me the rooms, and she gave me a lot of information. If I had to choose, that would probably be one of the two places that I would choose. They had private and semi-private rooms. They were nice, clean, and probably way more than what my husband needed. They had activities, but when I was there, it was lunchtime so they were eating. They gave some little sweets after I left, and they were fine. I would recommend it to others if they could afford it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother in law liked The Gardens of Port St Lucie the best. It’s close to the hospital and shopping. The rooms have nice a set up. The medical care is good, as well as the food. They take them out on a bus to places on certain days. Their sales people, caregivers and people that lived there stood out among the rest of the places we visited. However, they could have more social activities.

I visited this facility

The environment at The Gardens of Port St. Lucie was similar to other facilities I looked at. It also seemed open and friendly. Their staff was friendly. They care about their residents and they would address them by their first names. They try to keep them from just sitting in their rooms. They have numerous activities for them. They have a lot of field trips, transportation to doctors, and different onsite social activities planned there. They have somebody who is responsible for coming up with different activities and stuff.

I visited this facility

What I liked about The Gardens was that every resident looked happy and it wasn't just their smile, you can see it in their eyes that they were happy. They were suitably dressed and well groomed. The person in charged that I talked knew everybody's name. It was like a big family and I was very impressed. The residents who needed more care had the option to stay in their apartments or move to their other side of the facility, which is more like nursing home where they can have more care. Another thing, when you walk through the door, it doesn't smell. It will be the place where I would be comfortable putting my dad in. It was excellent.

The Gardens was okay but the staff wasn't as lively as the other place we went to. It was a little farther away from my place.

I visited this facility

The Gardens of Port St. Lucie was highly recommended by some of our friends who have seen it. It was also near my sister's place. My father and I visited the facility unannounced. The staff was courteous and she showed us around even if there was the flu outbreak. They had a pet dog which my father really liked. He wanted a facility where pets were allowed. There was also a small garden where the residents could plant anything. I noticed that there was always somebody if you needed assistance.

I visited this facility

My Mother lived in this facility, and we've been very impressed with the care she received up to and including the events 0f her passing. The staff is friendly, her daily needs are met in a timely and high-quality manner, and Mom was happy to be there and called it her "home". The staff quickly learned our family members' names and facts about our lives, and they alerted us to health concerns promptly or interesting tid bits of her day there. We feel confident that we chose the right home for Mom and would highly recommend this facility to other families.
