Vizcaya by the Sea

My sister is at Vizcaya By the Sea. It is adequate. It's on the East Coast, and it's an old motel that has been refurbished for assisted living, and it's not very nice. The staff were good. I think they're understaffed, which are a lot of places are right now. I didn't feel like she got the personal care that I would have liked to have seen her have. There were things that I feel could have been done as far as physical therapy. They don't have the facilities there for that, but her insurance would cover bringing someone in. She wasn't getting physical therapy and I think she needs it. Overall, it's well-run, but I wouldn't want to live there. I tried the food once. I know she's not happy with the food at all. She has a little refrigerator and a microwave, and she ends up fixing her own quite a bit. She's a little picky, but she's also diabetic, and they didn't serve her the foods that she should be receiving. There aren't any activities there. They have a room where they can play cards or whatnot, but they have nothing organized. I ate there once and it was OK, but my sister complains about it a lot.

I really wasn’t happy with Vizcaya by the Sea, and the owner wasn’t very personable. I was looking for something that was more of a single room, and the room that I was shown was a double room. When I asked, the price for a single room was double the amount, and I think they shouldn’t cost that much. The facility looked nice. It had a nice outside area and lunchroom, but I didn’t really get a very good feel on what activities they had and what they really did. They weren’t engaged in anything when I was there. It was a Sunday, so you would think that there would be other things going on, but there weren’t.
