I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband moved to Arden Courts - ProMedica Memory Care Community. It's all furnished. You don't have to bring anything in unless you want to. The food is excellent. The help that the nurses give to the patients is fantastic. They're very nice. I'm there every day for three or four hours and I never hear any nasty words. There are four different setups in there. It's not all on one floor. It's four different homes set up. They have a living room, they have a dining room, and they have a kitchen. If somebody is not there when it is time to change them, they go look for them in one of the other homes with friends. They have all kinds of activities. They have a church service on some days in the morning. They have people come in and play music and old songs, and they play games with them. They go out in the garden and plant vegetables. They exercise. They like volleyball. They play bingo with them.

I visited this facility

Arden Courts of Largo was the best of all the places we visited. I would give them a recommendation because the coordinator or the one in charge was very helpful. And I would have loved to bring my grandmother there because she needs memory care. I loved it. That place looked amazing. It was clean. It was very cute. Everybody was so sweet there, too. And the staff seemed nice. They had a gym/activity room, but I didn't know if they had a gym with equipment or not. I did get to see an activity room and a party-type room where you could have birthday parties and stuff there. They had a whole little home economics looking set up in the activities room where it even had its own kitchen. It was gorgeous.

Provider Response

Thank you for the positive review! We work hard to provide the best quality of care.

I visited this facility

Arden Courts of Largo was very well-maintained. There's no awful smell. The rooms were just very small, but they were situated that way on purpose. There were no showers in the bathrooms. They had what they call a shower room. So, everything was standby help and their shower room was fantastic. There's a garden house and other individual houses in different areas. It's very well secured. You can't get in or out without a code. The only time the residents can get out is to the courtyard that's completely fenced in and also secure.

We reviewed many places for our parents prior to choosing Arden Courts. It's not often that both parents have dementia issues but that is what we were up against. While this is not the norm Arden Courts has been able to accommadate my parents needs. There are several activities to those residents that want to participate. We have visited during mealtime and I must say, the food is very good. They also accommadate special diets or tastes. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. We feel our parents are well taken care of by the entire staff and are quickly informed of any issues that may occur. We are very happy we have chosen Arden Courts to care for our parents!

Thank you for sharing! We are glad to hear you were happy with the care we provided your loved ones and that our dedicated care givers provided a welcoming community for them to stay.

Arden is not a hospital, not a nursing or an assisted living facility, but a home for your family member suffering from Dementia. Arden Courts is designed and the staff trained to care for dementia patients.....only. My wife is treated like a family member as she is safe, well cared for and can participate in life's activities the best she can. My wife and I have been blessed that I can say these words.

Thank you for sharing! We are glad to hear you were happy with your wife's care and that you thought we provided such a welcoming environment for your loved one to stay.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been at Arden Courts of Largo for three years. I've been very happy with the facility and staff! Prior to Arden Courts of Largo, my father spent two weeks at another facility that also had an assisted living facility (ALF) and they focused more on the ALF residents so the memory care residents suffered. Rooms: Ample size with windows and their own bathroom. My father has a TV and his most prized possessions on the shelf and walls. They are kept clean. There's never a foul odor in the rooms or common areas. Staff: There have been few staff changes which gives me comfort in knowing the staff is happy where they work so they treat my father well. The staff has advised me when my father had health issues so I could address them directly with his VA provider. The director has handled the COVID crisis in an impressive manner to keep the residents safe. The staff is friendly and I know them all by name. Arden Courts of Largo is pricey. My father is a veteran, so the financial staff has worked with me regarding the VA Aid and Attendance funding as well as my father's service connected VA disability funding so he could afford to stay there. Activities: My father has enjoyed all of the activities. I've joined him in some of them. The staff accommodates special occasions like birthdays to have parties with the resident and family. During COVID, the staff provided an outstanding individual Thanksgiving or Christmas social hour with all 56 residents and their families. It was lovely with hor d'oeuvres, drinks, desserts and a backdrop for family photos. Amenities: The facility has an in house stylist that provides haircuts so the residents don't have to leave the facility. The secure gardens and patios are also lovely. The staff recognizes residents on certain days such as Veteran's Day with a celebration for the resident veterans. Overall, I feel very confident and trust that my father is being cared for in the best way possible at Arden Courts. If there ever is an issue, they call and first let me know "my father is alright" and then proceed to tell me if he needs meds or if he fell, etc. I highly recommend Arden Courts of Largo for your loved ones needs!

Provider Response

We moved my Mom to Arden Courts of Largo and are so glad we did. Experiencing other Assisted Living Facilities firsthand, we were comforted by the feel and layout of the facility. When a loved one has special memory care needs, it’s hard to feel confident when choosing where they will live and who will care for them. ALL of the staff have always been supportive, responsive, and most of all are caring and loving, from the caregivers and nurses to management. They all seem like family to us now. Even with her medical difficulties, my Mom thrives at Arden Courts. The environment they create gives her a feeling of home. Their response and plan for the pandemic was reassuring even in these difficult times. We have no doubt the staff made their residents a priority with the way they have controlled the virus scenario. They truly take care of your loved ones as if they were their own. Arden Courts has been a blessing to my Mom and our family, we will be eternally grateful.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing this, Teresa! We are glad to hear you are happy with the care your Mom is receiving and that she feels at home and is thriving in our community!

I visited this facility

Arden Courts of Largo is strictly memory care. There's no other level of care there. It's a secure facility. It wasn't quite as homey as the others I visited where seniors have a larger feeling of freedom. You have to be buzzed into the facility and once you get past that, it's beautiful, very nice, and very well maintained. All of the Arden Courts facilities are identical, right down to most of the artwork. The dining area was very nice. They have an outside courtyard where the residents are allowed to wander outside, but it's also secure. It had more of a nursing home feel to it, but the rooms were nice and certainly more than comfortable. The staff was very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is now at Arden Courts of Largo. It is great as far as I am concerned. For memory care issues, I would rate them very high. They have a very caring staff. There aren't so many residents for the staff to look after. The staff members get to know the residents. I have been there a lot and I have never heard staff members get rough, mean, or loud with any of the residents. The food is good. My husband can't chew because he has no teeth. Nevertheless, the aide makes sure that if he can't eat what is served, that they give him something else to eat. The residents can go to the kitchen. They can go in the refrigerator and get chocolate milk, white milk, fruit cups, ice cream in a small tub, snacks, bananas, and apples. They have bingo, board games, and movies. They read to them and they get together if they want to. They make jewelry and they draw pictures. They have balloon badminton, and they have an airgun that they can use to shoot at a target. They have a lot of activities, usually two every morning, and every afternoon. They have church services. The staff is very caring. I am shocked that they do stay there as long as they do because most everybody has been there for quite a while. It is a little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. I feel very comfortable with my husband being there.

Provider Response

Thanks for sharing Jan! We are glad to hear how happy you are with your husband's care and the activities available at our memory care community. Also that you feel our staff are very caring.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We had my father in another Assisted living facility and he was not receiving even basic care and he was rapidly declining. We knew we had to move him fast because he was truly being neglected. He could not sit upright in his wheelchair, difficulty feeding himself. We toured Arden Courts and knew this would be a better fit. From the day he rolled in, he sat upright and began engaging and participating in all of the activities, he is getting the care he requires and deserves. The staff is very attentive and have been well trained in how to handle residents with impaired memory. He used to beg us not to leave him in the other facility and at Arden Courts he does well with us leaving and is confident that he will be okay without us being there to oversee him. The small "houses" with their own living room area and dining area are very homelike and inviting and not overwhelming. The facility is very clean and organized. I can not say enough about the staff and how welcoming and supportive they are, They are very patient and caring of the residents and their families. They are my first choice to recommend to friends and family.

Provider Response

Thanks for the recommendation! We are glad to hear how happy you are with your father's care and the support our staff gives him. Also that you feel our staff is very caring and patient with all of our memory care residents.

My mother is staying in Arden Courts of Largo. It's very clean and appears to be very well run. The staff seems to be very caring. We are very pleased with it so far. My mom has been there for a couple of weeks, so she is still getting acclimatized to it. I don't know that she is really involved in the activities yet, although there are many activities that they have for the residents to become involved with. The food is good. The dining area, the way they have it broken up into various communities within the community, is small. It is not overwhelming for the residents. It is more like having dinner with friends than it is into a large cafeteria type setting. The value is good. It is about the same price as other communities that we looked at. I think Arden Courts is a better value because it is a nicer place.

I visited this facility

Arden Courts was absolutely lovely and fine, but it was a whole lot more expensive. Within the building, there were about four places where you could stay, one was like a boat place, one was an artsy place, and the other a garden place. I did not consider it because it wouldn't have worked with my husband. Everybody seemed very good, and they were having an art class, which my husband would enjoy.

I found a really nice facility. It’s Arden Courts of Largo. We had a nice tour. It was so very well organized, and the staff members were great, so the first impression was very good. Food is very good. It is more nutritious than my friend’s previous place. This is what impressed me -- the nurses and LPNs are there for 24 hours. The staff is great. There are 4 wings in the buildings, but the whole place is like walking into a home. Every wing is color-coded, so the residents know where they live. There are only 56 people in there, and 14 in each house -- they call them houses -- so the 14 people eat together. They have a kitchen just like in your house. They can go in there anytime, they can cook things, and the staff members are there if they need help, which is what I really like. They keep the cupboard full of snacks and the freezer full of ice cream, and they can go anytime and help themselves. Arden Courts of Largo is very conducive for people with memory issues. Like the houses are named differently. There’s Boat House, Cottage, Country Living, and Colonial. Like for the “Cottage,” they have everything in there pertaining to cottages. The residents can get their bearings very easily. It’s very nice. With billing, you pay one price, and it is all-inclusive. I can’t say enough about them. I would go there if I have a problem of memory loss. It is very conducive to people who need to be with a social atmosphere, and for memory patients, that’s usually what they need. They don’t need to hide in their room. Also, there is no TV or phone. All they do is go to their room and sleep. When they get up, they are up all day because, besides eating, they have all the activities. But it is on a small scale, and it is more enjoyable to the residents.

We put my father at Arden Courts of Largo on Thanksgiving Day. A lawyer recommended it, and I think it is pretty good. He has a bedroom with the availability for two people. It has a dresser, a closet, and a bathroom. I did not see how the staff handled my father, but I do check on up on it, and they say he is doing real good and telling me that he has mood swings. They do have a little putting green outside and a nice garden area. They do have scheduling of a lot of activities. He is very satisfied with the facility. I like the medical care. They have a doctor that comes in, and they have a 24-hour nurse that is always on-call and is on the property. They roam the halls every hour to make sure the patients are where they're supposed to be.

I visited this facility

Arden Courts was close to where I lived. They had a 7:1 nurse-resident ratio which was manageable. The rooms were either private or semi-private. There were plenty of staff to attend to the needs of the residents. There were a lot of activities to keep the residents busy.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Arden Courts is a facility for Alzheimer patients. While my father was there I got to know not only the employees but many other residents. The staff is extremely caring with all the residents. They knew how to care for each individual resident and joked and laughed with them. The only complaint I have is the lack of variety of food. My father always loved his desserts so I often brought in treats. This may not be pertinent to your survey but one time I brought in two slices of cheesecake. Another resident saw my father eating it and wondered why she only had fruit. She was one of my favorite residents so of course she was given the other slice. I do not believe there is any better place my father could have spent his last days and I know he was cared for by the best of the best.
