Village at Belmar

We visited the assisted living portion of Village at Belmar. It was a beautiful facility. It was on multiple levels, and the person who toured us through was Eric. On the second floor is the dining area. They had windows that you could look out on to the mountains. It was gorgeous. I toured with my husband, and then I toured with my mom, thinking that she might like that. We ate there and the food was delicious. The rooms were very spacious. They had the memory care unit on the first floor, but we did not do the memory care portion. The price was based on kind of a la carte. Whatever she needed, she would be charged for a basic amount for the room, and then anything else would be an a la carte cost.

I liked Village at Belmar. The layout was convenient for seniors to move around. They were focused on the needs of the residents, not just building a structure. There weren't long hallways. It was not like you were walking around a hotel or a hospital. Their independent living was far beyond what a lot of the other senior homes provide. They've got a kitchen where they could do community cooking and things like that. It was a food-driven community because seniors love to eat. If there was one thing I would say about them, they were showing a different level of respect and care for their residents.

We chose Village at Belmar because it's the best for independent living. It has The Flats, which four units in each building with a total of 60, and the size is so much better than the others. Most of the ones we looked at were between 850 and 1,000 square feet and the Village is 1,300 square feet. They're not just rooms; they're full apartments with two bedrooms and full kitchens, decks, two bathrooms, laundry in the unit, and attached garage. The people were very nice. We made friends already. It's topnotch. The staff was very nice. This was the one that fit our needs the best.
