"San Marino Retirement was very nice and very pleasant. We met people there. The girl who took me around did a very good job, and she made sure I saw not only the people that work there but also a few of the residents and I talked to them. It was a very pleasant experience. Some of the residents were active and friendly. They were out and doing something, sitting, watching TV, and some of them were outside, walking around. It looked quite clean. I was very favorably impressed with San Marino. There's an open space right behind it, so you can walk out there."

"Balfour Riverfront Park offers memory care, assisted, and independent living. I'm in their independent living section. The number one thing that I like here is the community. We're from all over the country, mostly because our children or some relatives live out here in Denver. Denver is beautiful and has beautiful weather. I like the staff because they're very caring. I even wonder if Human Resources, before they hire somebody, asks if they love their grandma because they are very patient. The staff like each other, we like them, and they like us. It has nothing to do with the actual physical building and what it offers. It's really the community. There are so many activities here. I was just doing water aerobics this morning. The food is good, and they're always open to suggestions. They accept recipes that people offer and work with them. The security is good, too. Several times a week, they have transportation out somewhere, like to a museum, shopping, and all kinds of places. If you wanna go specifically for a doctor's appointment, they'll take you. There are several drivers, and they would take you within a 15-mile radius. This place is very posh and very classy. There are even fresh flowers on the dining tables. I get what I pay for, and I pay a lot. They discourage seniors from driving, so to park in the garage here, it's $400 a month. However, they have a driving service within 15 miles, and we're right downtown and just three blocks from Union Station. For two years before I moved here, I lived downtown and learned how to ride public transportation everywhere, so I am happy here."

"It seemed like Brookdale Parkplace had a great social system. I went to see their assisted living and Nick was great at the tour. He listened to the reason why my friend was going in. They seem to offer what is needed when you have a friend who is having challenges living a normal life. I think they had great amenities like a pool, a gym, a movie room, and dining rooms for your own parties."

"Keystone Place at Legacy Ridge could have been a place for my dad, but they don't have an opening. The facilities were clean, active, and accessible. The rooms were good. The lady who accommodated the tour was very energetic and understanding. They all sat us down in the beginning and gave a talk, and we asked questions. One thing about Keystone Place at Legacy Ridge is they have a very low turnover. Their staff tends to stay there for years. I thought it was going to be a lot more expensive than it was, so I was surprised to see that they were within range of everyone else."

"I visited the independent living side of Brookdale Meridian Englewood. It's larger than some that I've been in and seen. I like the room sizes there. The upkeep of the place was also good. It was clean. The staff was very accommodating. The dining area was nice and clean. They take local trips, have exercise classes, and various interest groups that meet."

"I have chosen them for my husband. I like that it's more of a home-type setup. The staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. They made me feel at ease. Activities were going on and it was a more free-moving situation. We saw one-bedroom apartments and they were good. They provided privacy to the individuals, which gives them a level of dignity. We went to the dining room and then there was a TV room and we got to see the outside area. There's a deck with a grill and table and chairs and then there's a garden area and a very large backyard. I was quite impressed with that. I liked it. The facility was quite clean. We saw the memory care and I liked that it was very secure. You couldn't go in and out, and the doors were locked down. Everything worked out as far as my needs, my husband's needs, and location."

"We toured Brookdale University Park Colorado. My overall tour experience was excellent. Janelle, the woman who gave the tour, was very thoughtful and a good listener, and very responsive to all the questions that we offered. I checked the dining area. It was very peacefully arranged. I looked at their menus and thought they were very accommodating. The two meals a day were included in the pricing. We looked at a one-bedroom apartment, and I thought that the sizes of the rooms were quite adequate. They only have one style of the one-bedroom apartment, and probably one style for the efficiency apartments. We didn't see an efficiency apartment, but we did see a two-bedroom apartment. The two-bedroom apartments have several different price points. All the rooms seem to be very nicely sized, and you have two bathrooms in each of the two-bedroom apartments. One bathroom had a tub and the other had a shower. What seemed to be the big difference in pricing was the amount of closet space, which increased depending on the square footage. I think their higher level of two bedrooms has two balcony units rather than one balcony. There might be a differential as to just what the orientation of the apartment is, and perhaps the heights in the building. The higher in the building, the more you have a view of the mountains, especially with the west-facing presentation. The only thing that is a little bit problematic is that there's no continuous care option, but the positive side of that is that I think that the general population is younger and more physically active. They are also pet-friendly, and they are very well-maintained. Everything looked well-maintained."

"We toured Highland Trail, an independent living community in Broomfield. The people are very outgoing and very personable. We were greeted by a number of the staff, and the staff member who took us around was very bubbly and outgoing. She's the one who knew absolutely everybody that we met and talked to for a minute. She talked to them about something personable, like talking about their birthday party, and things like that. She knew the clients inside well. We got a cinnamon roll the first time we were there, and then we were invited to one of their events, where they had some live music. They had sliders, root beer floats, and cupcakes, and we enjoyed it very much. The food was good. They showed us their rooms, and one of them that we liked was a little bigger than the other one, and had a balcony. The place was very clean and very nice."

"The Lodge at Balfour Senior Living was excellent. The coordinator was absolutely wonderful. It's clean and it was exactly what we were looking for. There's graduated care, and it's a big campus. The skilled nursing and assisted living are in one building, and across the street are eight or ten duplexes. We liked that the cottages were between 1,200 and 1,300 square feet. There were two cottages to a duplex. They were nice, airy, and big enough, but it's too far away from where we are right now. It's the best facility we looked at."

"I was very pleased with Brookdale Tamarac Square. The rooms were excellent. The dining area was very attractive. The upkeep of the facility was outstanding. It looked beautiful. I was very pleased with the tour and the information that I was given. The parking area was excellent. The pool is now closed. They're in the process of getting a new contract to open and evidently renovate the pool."

"I visited Quincy Place. It was just as nice as the other community. The amenities were just about the same. The staff was very kind and courteous as well. They all welcomed me with open arms when I visited there. The food and the accommodations were excellent. "

"I like everything. It was a gorgeous facility and had everything I would ever want. It was excellent. They had the dining, the housekeeping, and the activities. I was only interested in housekeeping because I'm independent and I can do everything by myself except housekeeping. The staff who gave the tour was very good, too. The dining area was very spacious and clean, and it seemed to have options for things that you wanted to eat. They have a menu that you choose from, so I was very impressed by that. I like the place."

"We toured Harvard Square Retirement and Senior Living. I liked a lot of things about that community. They had long-term employees. It was very clean. It was very nice. They have activities. They have a group that would go and welcome new residents, so they weren't just sitting in their apartments. They wanted people out and engaged, and so I like that. The employees seemed very nice. All the ones we met had been there for at least five years. It was a beautiful setting. They had a library, and they had a walking path, it was very nice. We walked into the dining room, and it looked very nice. And they had different seating configurations. It looked like a restaurant. The building looked very clean. Of the places I looked at, this by far was the best. Residents seemed to be engaged."
