I visited this facility

My initial tour of Shadowridge Senior Living was fine, but it was rushed because we called at the last minute and they said the person who was giving the tour was busy. So, a nurse took us. She was super nice and showed us everything. The place seemed new. It had been redone, so it was light and bright. I went back with my mom because I had signed her up. She would have gotten a shared room. It was big, but it was dark and it was upstairs. They had an activity room. The day we went, the residents were playing bingo. The dining room seemed nice and bright, with tablecloths on the table. The facility seemed clean, but it seemed cramped once you got upstairs. I gave the salesperson the information she requested about my mom's medical records, but I never heard from her again.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in The Manse, and everything is great so far. Everything is OK, the people are good, and the place is clean. She's doing physical therapy. Her room doesn't have a kitchenette, but it's clean. They have basic amenities. The living atmosphere is fine, as long as the care is good. The place looks bright.

The Manse is a lovely facility with a real feeling of "home" for it's residents. The atmosphere is family-like and is evident in the relationship the develops with each resident. Most importantly, the residents of the Manse receive top quality personal care that is based on genuine concern for their comfort and welfare. This is coupled with an attitude of respect for each individual. M. J. P.

Our father lived there a few years ago. He had dementia and had lost alot of weight prior to moving in a new facility. We were concerned about his diet so we were so glad he lived in this great community. He gained weight within a few weeks and was having a better appetite. We think it is because he was with so many other people. It was a good improvement in his activity level as they have different events and weekly activities that he could participate in. The caregivers were great and could see his improvement also.

Letter of support: My mother, Mildred, has resided at The Manse since November 2015. My sister and I moved her to this location due to abuse at another facility in Vista. After the very devastating event, we began an extensive search for a suitable home that could accommodate the needs of our mother. We chose The Manse for various reasons, but primarily due to the smaller number of residents which allows for more personal care of the residents as well as more interaction with both the staff and fellow residents. We can cannot be happier or more satisfied with our decision as any problems and concerns that we have are addressed quickly and professionally. Since moving into this new home, our mom is more content, has gained weight and shows much less stress. We enthusiastically support and confidently recommend The Manse as a good assisted living option. Sheree G.

To Staff and Administrator: We wanted to take a minute to thank you for the continuing excellent care you have given my sister, Sonja. She has been there over two and a half years. She is happier and laughing more than we remember for a long time. The caring and concern you and your staff show for Sonja is truly appreciated. Thank you for making her life comfortable and ours much easier! Richard (brother) and Carol S.

...It was a pleasure to see my sister, Marsha, looking so well when my son and I visited recently. I wish we could have stayed longer to talk with everyone who takes care of her. Thank you all for the care and attention you give to her. I greatly appreciate your kindness more than I can express. Our gratitude to each of you who touch her life. Jean G.

My husband and i wish to share our compliments and give commendation to the manse. the staff, an especially to the caregivers/angels for the wonderful , kind and loving care of our mother, Dorothy. She seemed to fit in immediately, It was an easy adjustment for her to her new home. and the daily routine. The caregivers are remarkable. Although they have their own specific duties they seem to work together as a unit very well and complimenting each other. These "angels" have an incredible gift of patience and love and make the residents feel secure and safe. They work as a team tightly and knitted together pouring out their care which was well received by our mom and the other residents. We thank all for a job well done and for each of the every day smiles to our mom. Please know that Dorothy, Don and I appreciate each of the caregivers. God bless you and may you continue in His purpose. You are a blessing and "preciso" to us and the residents. Sincerely from the family

I visited this facility

The Manse is an old mansion. It's not modern at all, but the grounds are fairly well-maintained. The person who accommodated me was very casual, didn't come off as professional, and was almost hurried, but she answered our questions and showed us around. The place didn't look very cheerful, but it was clean. It was early in the morning when I visited, and I saw the residents watching TV.

I visited this facility

The Manse was not what I expected at all. It was outdated, didn't have air conditioning, and they left the doors open throughout the whole place. There were squirrels running around on the grass, which I thought was a health risk because squirrels have rabies. There weren't any renovations done. The kitchen was OK. I saw one lady passed out in front of the TV. Another lady barged into somebody's room, and I asked how she liked it there, and she said it's OK, but I knew from her expression that it wasn't OK. She did not look happy. They had an iron gate. It was really hot, so no wonder there was an elderly person passed out on the couch in front of the TV. They had army blankets on the bed, which were not tasteful at all. It looked like a dungeon, and the rooms were sad. It should be shut down. I was not happy with that place at all. It's expensive, and they didn't have decent beds, decent blankets, and decent decor. It was clean, but it's very unappealing, very sad, and depressing. It's like somebody's elderly mom's home that they don't take care of. It was not what I expected. None of the people looked happy at all, and there weren't many in there. They didn't have a lot of staff. They had this doctor who could barely walk who comes once in a while to check on some patients.

I visited this facility

The Manse had a totally different environment. It was dark and wasn't built specifically for the purpose it is being used for. It was definitely less fancy, and it seemed like they were leaning toward more assisted living. The overall community wasn't as nice nor as clean. My first impression of The Manse was very positive in that I thought that it would be the right place for my mother-in-law, but the cost was almost as much as the other community. The outside part of the building was beautiful. They had really nice grounds, but it was older. The cost was cheaper than other places; instead of $3,000 to move in, they charge you $1,500, but when I asked what's that for, they said it's for paperwork. There's no paperwork that costs $1,500 in my opinion, so it didn't work for us. I like that The Manse had a large fence surrounding the property that was gated. If you want to come on to the grounds, you have to talk to somebody. It was very secure because they have patients that might wander, so I think it was for a higher level of care.

I visited this facility

The Manse seemed to be pleasant and clean. It had beautiful grounds where there were a lot of lights, and they could sit down on the lawn. It was all gated. It was not like a hospital setting, and it was not sterile. It was like an old bread-and-breakfast house. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had lots of light because of the windows. They had activities like movies, going for walks, throwing balls, mind games, and quite a few other activities. There were also TVs everywhere, but not the rooms because they don't want them to stay in the rooms. However, I thought their kitchen and dining room needed to be remodeled.

CARE OF MY MOTHER

My mother has been a resident for awhile and has been well taken care of. The care givers have given her the care and attention she needs. I'm very pleased with The Manse and the way they care for their residents. Jim
