Great facility, we visited our relative today. We had a great welcoming to our crowd. Place looked very clean. Patients had just finished lunch. The food looked great. We left with a very good impression. Keep up the great work activcare.

On the whole, I'm happy with ActivCare at Mission Bay. I think that all the staff are extremely caring people, but they also make mistakes. I got very upset because I'm paying $10,000 a month and somebody forgets to give my brother lunch. If I hadn't been there, he wouldn't have gotten any lunch. I don't know if they forgot it. I go to visit at different times, so it's hard to say. They keep his room extremely clean. They're very good about that. I watched them in the dining room. If somebody spills, there's somebody there cleaning it up immediately. After meals, a man came with a small electric carpet cleaner. A man was going around putting putty in any place in the wall where there was a little nick. The facility is lovely. They have two patios and you can take your loved one out there if the weather's nice and sit and watch the birds, and my brother enjoys watching them. There are two hummingbird feeders. I had my grandchildren come to visit my brother. They require that the children stay outdoors, so they could come to the patio there. I'm very happy with the patios and I'm very happy with the caring people who work there. The facility is very nice and very attractive. They decorated it for Christmas. They have four different big TVs in the great room.

My dad has moved into ActivCare at Mission Bay. It's great. It is a pleasant-looking environment, clean, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. There are lots of staff, and there are nurses on-hand every day, 24 hours a day. They have lots of activities and opportunities for the residents to be involved. They do walkw every morning, they have live musicians that come in and play music, they play games, watch movies every night, and they have a Superbowl party. All of the food is supplied.
The nurses are giving out the medications. There is also an option if you want to have their hair done. They are OK if we have the dentist come in and do work on my dad there. Some of these things are for an extra, but they do allow services to be taken care of there. They have a podiatrist that comes in to trim toenails.
The staff members are always very pleasant with the residents. They serve them their meals and try to encourage them to finish their meals if they say that they're not hungry. They're always caring. They take care of bathing them and doing the laundry. The place is very nice.

ActivCare is a brand-new, bigger facility that's only been open for a year. I hoped that they had respite care, but they were full, so they weren’t offering respite care at that time. The people that we talked to were very helpful and talked about how they started ActivCare and what they hoped to accomplish and get done. I think the residents will be well served. My husband is going to have a lot of options there. He needs to get out and go workout in a gym, and the YMCA is just down the street. The facility would get membership for that, so my husband just needs to get out of the building. They are so tuned into their residents. They have like different communities depending on where you are in the disease. The highest level of community is where my husband will be. They have lots of options, and it’s a great place for him to be. For what they do there, they’re awesome. They’re new, bright, shiny, sparkly, and clean. The thing that I really like about ActivCare is the paintings and murals on all of the walls. I’m really hoping that it will be a good fit for my husband.

ActivCare at Mission Bay was nicely decorated. It had a lovely outside patio area. However, the facility was small and in an undesirable neighborhood. They had some games going on. They had people working in the little garden. However, once I saw the neighborhood, I was already turned off, so I didn't really pay attention. I only talked with one staff, and she was the lady showing me around, but she seemed very nice. The room that I saw seemed very roomy and nice. I just saw an individual room; I didn't see a shared room or anything like that. They have one big room, and everything happens in that room. It wasn't just a specific dining room. They ate in there, they played games in there, and then they watched TV in there.

The place is brand new, so everything looked clean. The problem I had with ActivCare was that it was small; you kind of feel claustrophobic going in there. I did not like that there was virtually no parking there. They only have about 20 parking spaces in their little parking lot and none on the street. The dining area looked alright, but it was small. I like the arrangement. They have shared tables -- like four to a table and so forth. The afternoon we visited, they had the grand opening, so everything was spick and span, and the arrangement seemed nice. It was near where I lived so I thought this would be great. It looked like they designed and built a nice place.
