I went to the University Retirement Center. It's very high-end. I've just heard wonderful things about it, and they were saying, "We have an open house. Come and look." So, I went and toured it. Oh my goodness! It was like going to a five-star hotel. They have a food program where you have certain credits, and if you need more, you can buy more. If you have family coming over, you could also use some of the credits so they can eat with you, which was nice. They have a lot of different rooms. There is a room where game groups usually meet, like for cards and things. They have a little bus that goes around. It takes people where they need to go. They have different things, so you can go out of the place and visit. I know they have a lot of volunteers in the area, like little local singing groups, who would come in and do a little performance. They have a little area with some gardens, so you can have some raised beds. Also, you could have a small pet, which I like because I want to have a cat or a small dog with me. You can either go to a restaurant-type setting or a more casual type of area. If you want to have some dinner, you can just go to the casual one. If you want to sit down with friends or have someone to come celebrate your birthday with you, you can go to the more restaurant-type facility, and you can use your points so you can treat them to dinner, which is nice. They served us lunch that was really quite delicious. They did a presentation and told us all about it. We walked around, and we looked at the different sizes and the different options of rooms that way. They can have where you can live by yourself, or they can work out where couples live there, too. They seem to have lots of different options. It was very nice, very clean, kind of airy and light. The staff members were really friendly, very pleasant, and helpful. I was quite impressed. As we're walking around the facility, we would see other people and kind of like, 'Hello.' It was sort of a nice, upbeat atmosphere.

My mom is a resident of the University Retirement Community. I visited a lot of the communities in the Sacramento area, and it's by far the best. They provide everything. They have incredible amenities. They have three dining rooms. They have two swimming pools, a gym, a recital hall, and a library. Also, the maintenance is always up to date. They just redid the lobby and the library. I thought they were fine before, but they just remodeled, and all the landscaping is always very well maintained. The one drawback is that it's expensive, but I highly recommend it if you can afford it. The food is outstanding. I had brunch there yesterday. It's comparable to a restaurant, and they have a professional chef. They have a lot of different things. They have physical therapy. They organized trips to the theater. They have chair exercises, meditation, yoga, and painting classes. They have musicians who come in and give the concerts. They have people come in and give lectures. They take them on trips to Mondavi and museums.

We saw University Retirement Community. We were very impressed with them, but we couldn't afford it. They gave me a whole list of activities. They have a swimming pool there, and they take bus rides for concerts and things. They have a beautiful library there.

University Retirement Community was lovely, everything about it was very nice, and there was a swimming pool across the street. But we've had to use air conditioning about seven or eight months per year, and I don't care for that. The staff was fine, and the food was great.

We loved the University Retirement Community. The food was excellent. The people were friendly, but they would not accept us financially, which was a huge disappointment. It’s a continuing care/retirement community, but it’s type B, so the fees go up with each level of care which could make it very expensive if you had to go to memory care. The one-bedroom apartment that we could have taken was very small with absolutely no closet space. For two people, it would never have worked so that made it not so good, and the other thing was they wouldn’t accept our dog. It would have been our first choice because our two adult children live very close, but there was a waiting list and nothing available.

University Retirement Community is a top-notch place. The rooms were more than adequate. The staff is excellent and very attentive. The food was excellent; we had a wonderful meal there. They do adult learning right within the building. They have water aerobics. They have a pool for free swimming, photography, arts -- just about anything you’d want.

My in-laws chose University Retirement Community. The apartment was spacious. Really good food options, very nice independent-living arrangements, lots of activities, and not overcrowded.

Th complex itself seems like it was originally designed as a dormitory or housing complex for students. However everything is easily accessible for the current retirees residing there now. The staff is very professional and they all take pride in their work. The only suggestion i would make to the staff is that they do a better job maintaining the landscape in and around the complex.
