We moved here in 2009 and find the location superb. It's a 10-minute walk from the University of California, Berkeley, and its many public lectures, seminars, exhibits, and performances. The Pacific Film Archive there has great screenings. Lots of affordable restaurants nearby. BART and express buses are available. Superb shopping at Berkeley Bowl and other stores. The community has about 70 residents, from all walks of life and with diverse personalities. No matter what your interests, you'll probably find a few kindred spirits here. People tend to be helpful and friendly. There are some shared activities, such as movies, concerts, and conversation groups. For my taste, the main weakness is that the community is slow to modernize itself; for example, as of 2010 it still hadn't gotten an email address or made any arrangements for Wi-Fi access. But some of us are working on getting things moving. I have posted some more details at my Web site, http://stulta.com/bth. There you can also send me a message if you'd like more information about this community.
