Additionally, the city has several popular parks and there are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and boutique stores.

Benefits and Drawbacks of Assisted Living in Mountlake Terrace

  • According to Sperling’s Best Places, Mountlake Terrace has an average cost of living index of 128, which is significantly higher than the respective state and national averages of 118.7 and 100. However, the health cost index is far below the national average, at 84.2, which means seniors don’t pay as much for health care services as the typical American.

In January, the temperature hovers around a cool but not uncomfortable 37 degrees, while in July, it’s more likely to be a warm but not sweltering 74 degrees. Another benefit of the climate is the low levels of snowfall — about 4 inches annually — which means the city’s seniors don’t often have to deal with snowy conditions.
  • Statistics published by Neighborhood Scout reveal that the property crime rate in Mountlake Terrace is slightly above the national average but lower than the state median. However, the chances of becoming a victim of violent crime is much less likely than in the typical Washington and U.S. city.

  • DART paratransit is a service offered to Mountlake Terrace residents unable to use Community Transit’s fixed-route bus service due to a disability or age-related condition. Fares are $2.50 per trip or for $90 per month, seniors can make unlimited trips. These fares are the same as those for standard fixed-route local service.
