"I really liked Mustang Creek Estates -Allen, but I didn't think my friend would like their style. Everyone just had a bedroom and they had like twelve people living in one big house. It was a nice-sized bedroom, but it was a little bit too much of a step down for her, going from a house to not actually having her own apartment. There were like six different homes around the circle, and each of them had a maximum of twelve or fifteen residents. We went into one of their facilities that was vacant and it seemed really pleasant, very modern, clean, and open. They had one large commercial kitchen and somebody makes the meals for the residents of the home. They had two big tables that everybody would sit at and eat meals together, a huge living room area, and a room where they did crafts, games, and stuff. When we went there, their activities director had just finished doing bingo with the residents. I think their idea was a little bit smaller and more personal, because they have all these separate little places. It was a really nice setup, kind of almost like in a group home. It's just at this stage and time for my friend, it isn't the right fit for her. Another thing is, you can't come in, so the people there are isolated and they can focus on interacting with each other."

"Gracious Care Home - Allen was nice. The staff who assisted me with the tour was nice. It was like living at home because it was an actual house. It's just a single home in a neighborhood. It's not a normal facility like the other places. It was very small, so there would be lots of one-on-one attention. I think they said they only take 3 residents at a time. They only had one lady there at the time. They did home-cooked meals but they didn't have a meal plan or anything like that."

"We like Vitality Court Texas Star. Everybody was good. We are interested in it. Unfortunately, they don't have any rooms, and we were put on a waiting list. The rooms were very good."

"Kiloo is the owner. She cared for my mother for about 6 years. When she opened Glorious, my mother moved from her home to the residential home. The care was impeccable. I think Kiloo and Mimi are the primary caregivers at this point. I can't say enough about the loving care that they gave to my mother. The food was fabulous. I would take in things from time to time kind of just a treat. They always provided good nutrition. Any kind of problem that popped up when my mother began not to eat solid food and couldn't chew, they came up with all sorts of solution. They put food together that she could eat. Mother had a large private bedroom with a private bath with a walk in closet. She brought her own furniture which we've allowed them to keep in case somebody comes through that doesn't have furniture or something. My mom was pretty much bedridden and she was not an active person. So they put her in a wheelchair and wheel her around. She pretty much wanted to stay in her room. She wasn't a social being. That was not really anything that they need to come up with for her. It's just a very loving Christian atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone. They're just fabulous. "

"The Waterford at Plano had a friendly staff. They showed me their dining room, barbershop, library, and their common area. It's currently under renovation right now. So, when I got there, all of the furniture was pushed out of the way, because they were putting down new flooring. Other than that, it was a clean place."

"Twin Rivers was relatively new. It was on one story, ground floor. The rooms are very nice and seemed to be up to date. The staff seemed very nice and congenial. They had a movie room and activity room for various things. The dining room was set up in the front of the building and had menus on the table so they'd know what they would have for the meal for that day."

"Our experience with Brookdale Creekside (formerly Emeritus at Creekside) was positive. I decided to put my mother there because they came out and did a comprehensive assessment in her home. I felt comfortable that it was going to be a good fit for her there. There are many activities of great variety offered all day long. The staff is just very caring, attentive, and patient. They do a wonderful job. She mostly likes the food. The dining area is pleasant and overlooks the outside. She likes it there, and I feel she is safe and happy. It's small, so I feel it's more family-like and gives really individualized care. "

"I went and toured Brookdale Club Hill. It was very nice. There were a lot of activities for seniors. The place was extremely clean and very well kept. I hope that I live in a place like that when I get old enough to move to a place like that. I would definitely recommend it. It was well laid out. The rooms were nice and open. They had nice, large decks in the room I was in. The rooms were decent sized, especially the master bedroom. The dining facility was very nice. The pottery, arts and craft, and game rooms were well put together. The staff who toured us around was extremely knowledgeable. She did a fantastic job of explaining everything. She had all the answers as far as trying to get me help with DD214 and what avenues I could go down to try to obtain that help. The tour was excellent."

"Their apartments in Emeritus were dark, at least the ones they took as to. They're smaller compared to the ones my mother's in. I think their place is clean and they have good staff. I suggest that they update the place, paint it and brighten things up. "

"I had an in-person tour. The staff that I spoke with was very helpful in trying to find a solution for us. The apartments were very good-sized. If I end up moving my parents to assisted living, this is probably the facility that we will use. It's a little bit farther away from me. I wanted them a little bit closer. The facility was very clean and looked very nice."
