"Beckett Meadows was very nice. The staff was very friendly, and the people seemed to be very happy. It has a good mobility; they would go around with their wheelchairs or walkers in the living room, and I have seen some of them outside even walking with their walkers getting some fresh air. It looks like they care about freedom. It was very new, but at that time my dad went, we would not be able to sell him on assisted living. I have talked to people who have been there, and they said it was exemplary. They have a piano in the grand entry room. "

"Brookdale Gaines Ranch was nice, I enjoyed the tour. The young lady was very, very knowledgeable and both of the rooms I saw were very nice and spacious. The grounds were great, they were in great condition and it looked like nice outdoor areas for people to go. The inside was exceptional, it's nice, clean, and neat. We got there right in the middle of lunchtime, there was a bunch of people eating. The menu looked good. I like the fact that you had a special that day, and then also had some alternatives that you could order if you didn't like the special. There were a couple of activity centers that had some people that were in the process of leaving to go to lunch. They have a nice broad spectrum of activities for all different levels. The young lady that was doing the tour was substituting for the leasing agent because the leasing agent was out of town that day. So we did not get any prices on the rooms, and I don't know how it ranks against the other places. But the young lady was very knowledgeable and it was a good tour."

"Brookdale Northwest Hills was very clean and very nice. Everyone was just excellent. Their apartment was also very nice. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the floors are vinyl, and I understand why they're that way, but carpeted rooms are just more homey, warmer, and better for the elderly. They have a nice dining area and a nice community area by a fireplace with a TV. Everyone looked clean and happy. It was well-staffed. I was very pleased."

"Brookdale Westlake Hills is on the top of our list. It had beautiful grounds. The staff was very friendly. Everyone knew each other's names. They had some larger units. We ended up picking it because they had two-bedroom units. Their amenities were nice. It felt like you were in a resort. Their dining was served restaurant-style. There is a pool and a hot tub outside. They had some gardening, which was a cool feature for people that wanted to do that outside. It sounded like they did a lot of activities where they would take them places and then also bring speakers in and have things in on their campus for people to do. They provided transportation to the doctors. They have health care on-site. The staff was wonderful, super knowledgeable, and very friendly. She's checked back with me multiple times and has been very responsive. She knew all the names of everybody we passed in the hallways, everybody's story, and knew what was happening with them. They are very family-oriented. They provide two meals a day."

"Asher Pointe Senior Living of Austin was wonderful. It was a beautiful place, but a little far for me. The person who assisted me during the tour was wonderful. He explained things quite well. I didn't meet that many staff, but they were very kind."

"I did a tour at The Pavilion at Great Hills, and I didn't like it, it was too big. None of the staff smiled or said hi to you. It was a nice place, but I couldn't give it much more than a three. The staff didn't seem to be very friendly and engaging, but the place was nice. I saw pretty much everything. I obviously couldn't go into the kitchen, but I saw the dining room, the rooms, the activity room, the library, and the game rooms."

"The staff of Brookdale North Austin was very friendly. The place was very bright and very clean, and I would feel very comfortable having my mother there. The dining rooms were great. It was a restaurant-style cafeteria with set, very nice tables set. The meals looked healthy and well rounded, so I was very pleased. They had reading areas, movie areas, and TVs. I didn’t see anything that I thought needed improving. The rooms were very clean, and they were doing some updates on some of the rooms that they showed me. Overall, I was just very pleased. "

"SoCo Village was brand new. The staff said it opened at the end of 2020, but because of COVID, they haven't had many residents yet, so it's still pretty empty. When you go into something brand new, everything's all sparkling and clean and they have crystal chandeliers in the dining room. It's fancy. The admissions director was very nice. We sat in her office, went over paperwork, she explained everything, and then we took a tour. While we were on the tour, we met the director of the whole place and she was very nice. As I was leaving the place, the nurse for the facility walked up and she introduced me to him and said that he would be the one going to assess my mother before she would be admitted. Those were the only people that I met. The dining room was fancy. The chairs and tables were modern. Some tables would seat four people. Some tables would seat more. Because I asked her about wheelchairs and walkers, she said, "If they're like in a wheelchair, they can wheel right up to the table." I noticed some of the tables didn't have chairs and spaces, so that might have been for people with wheelchairs. They had a whole bunch of chandeliers. We looked at two different sizes of studios, a smaller one and then a larger one. The smaller one had the kind of flooring that looks like wood, but it's not. The larger one had carpeting. The larger one was more spacious, but they were both decent size, and the bathrooms were very spacious. One of the bathrooms had a fold-down seat in the shower and the other one had a molded seat. There were lots of room to move around with a wheelchair or a walker in the restroom. You'd have room to even put a little dresser or something in there if you wanted. The larger studio had a kitchenette, a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave, but no dishwasher. The smaller studio has a space where you can put one of those smaller refrigerators and then it has a shelf on top where you could put a microwave, but there's no counter space or anything. The facility was brand new, so everything looked brand new and very clean. It's like when you walk into model homes. They have the hair salon, a media room, which was pretty big, probably 10 to 12 fluffy recliner chairs to watch a movie, and they've got cupholders on those chairs. They had a big-screen TV, and on Sundays, they have a church service and people can come and watch the service on that screen. They had a library and different sitting areas throughout. It's a two-story and they have an elevator. There were some rooms on the second floor. Most of the rooms though are on the first floor and their memory care unit is on the first floor because we passed it."

"I visited Village on the Park Onion Creek. They have individual cottages, and my mother-in-law has a dog. They're much more accommodating rather than having to go up and down the elevator five times a day to take the dog outside. The grounds were pretty. The particular cottage we saw was very nice, spacious, and had granite counter tops and a cute little patio. It's just like having a little house rather than living in an apartment. We thought the price was too expensive for what we're looking for. The services were the same as other places, like the transportation and activities are similar, but get more space and a patio. It's a beautiful community."

"We visited Tech Ridge Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care and toured their assisted living for my sister. She has been there before but they're not willing to take her back. She is a type 1 diabetic and on an insulin sliding scale program and they can't do that. The place is very clean and has good cafeteria food. During the time that my sister was there, they had good nurses but she had to take certain medications, and they were providing the service, but could not do the ones for diabetes. They have a small gym, an excellent dining area, and a theater. They had great chefs and even made arrangements for diabetics."

"A relative of mine is a resident of The Waterford at Round Rock. She is in their memory care. It's a very nice community, the staff is wonderful, and they're very caring. The room is very nice too. It has a large bathroom with a beautiful courtyard view. The courtyard is very pleasant. It's a nice place to go and sit with your loved one and enjoy the fresh air. It's also secure. Nobody can get in or out unless they have the code to the gate or the door. The cleanliness is also very good."

"My parents will be moving into Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. I felt like it was very clean and fairly new. It was a good location for my family. We felt the stuff that was around it was nice. There are a lot of activities and a lot of accessible grocery stores and things to see and do. We felt that the community was well taken care of. They had a very nice outdoor courtyard for sitting. They tend to have a lot of activities that take place in the courtyard to get people outside. You get the fresh air. They did a really good job of bringing all their residents together to do various activities. It felt like a very good inclusive community. They encourage participation. I thought that was good for my parents. Everyone's super nice."
