"We went to see the Emeritus at North Austin facility while looking at options for our uncle in the area. The grounds resembled a colonial style motel, not unlike many we've visited and stayed at before. The french style doors seemed welcoming. The staff seemed friendly and kind. The living spaces we saw were modern, clean and efficient, with plenty of lighting. The decors were sufficient, some resembling a dorm room - but larger and with private baths - some of which had hardwood floors. This struck us, since those units had carpeting. There were plenty of seating areas along the outer exterior, close to the building, which is really nice. Our uncle really enjoys being outdoors. On the side of the building there is a lovely gazebo gracing the center. The spacious seating areas throughout the facility provide a welcoming hotel atmosphere, where residents may enjoy looking outside the many windows. There are plenty of visiting areas with french doors that look out to patios. The dining area was really spacious -- with lots of room between tables for a more private effect. The food looked very appetizing and the menu featured healthy alternatives that all looked like they would be delicious as well as nutritious. A variety of snacks are available throughout the day. There is also an informal kitchen area where residents may take their meals. The library is stocked with some great books and has french doors and opens into one of the general living areas. The residents may also visit the local library for more selections, and the staff will help them to download books on a computer if they like. There is a nice salon where residents may enjoy spa and grooming services. Many activities are scheduled throughout the day for seniors to enjoy, such as walks, exercise, music, TV, films, arts and crafts and readings. Because of its proximity to Lake Travis - the residents get to enjoy outings there on a regular basis, where they can go on boat rides, picnic and enjoy the wildlife with other families and their loved ones, if they like. The staff interacted well with the residents, some of whom were not entirely ambulatory. This is a mid-sized community that can handle a variety of resident situations, which we liked. They can easily adapt to the needs of the residents. A very nice living environment for seniors. "

"My aunt moved into A Serene Setting Assisted Living. It was excellent. They're very friendly, very welcoming, and very warm. There was very good food, and they have all the proper items in place for someone who's mobility is a little bit hampered. There was lots of greenery, trees, and it's very serene."

"I had a fine tour experience. The facility seemed quite nice and folks seemed well cared for. The staff was very friendly. There were only 33 residents in their assisted living portion. The dining area for the assisted living was quite small, but the place seemed very clean. The rooms were decent size with a nice sized window. The building seemed older though, but it depended on the room and how recently they have been redone. There was an area on each floor that residents could relax in, and all the floors had beautiful shared patios."

"Brookdale Northwest Hills was very clean and very nice. Everyone was just excellent. Their apartment was also very nice. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the floors are vinyl, and I understand why they're that way, but carpeted rooms are just more homey, warmer, and better for the elderly. They have a nice dining area and a nice community area by a fireplace with a TV. Everyone looked clean and happy. It was well-staffed. I was very pleased."

"My visit at Sterling House for my husband was very good. As soon as I walked in, I like the people and the facility. It was bright with big windows and well-lit 8-foot hallways. There were games going on that everyone is participating in. I have checked out the dining room, and it was very well done. I ate there and the food was good. The one issue I have with them is they seemed to be going through a pretty large personnel change, and that has been disruptive to my husband. He can't get acquainted with the personnel before someone leaves. I do think that their dining room tends to be understaffed. "

"Belmont Village West Lake Hills was a lovely location. I think it's really clean and the residents were well cared for. They had the available space that we were looking for and the facility was in great condition. I think they probably topped the list as far as amenities and activities and so forth. They had quite several activities for residents to participate in and were very interesting. It seemed like they worked with their residents to find things that they would be interested in."

"Brookdale Westlake was very upscale. I popped in without an appointment. The young man who showed me around took the time to introduce me to people, show me some of the facilities and apartments, and answer all pf my questions. I was there for a good 30 minutes. I thought he was very helpful. The grounds were very nicely manicured, and the grounds were very nice. Everybody I met and spoke to was very nice and very cordial. They have outings for the residents, some crafts, an exercise room, sing-a-longs, and they also bring some people in to play the piano. I thought it was neatly situated. "

"I moved to The Oscar at Georgetown. I've enjoyed it. It's a good move for me. I'm in the studio and I find it very satisfactory. The food is great, and the facility is well taken care of. There's a swimming pool and exercise facility. There are movies. The repair people are very attentive, and if there's something wrong with the facility, they may fix it in a hurry. There are two dining areas, one that's formal and one is less formal. The food is good and there's a great chef here."

"The Delaney at Georgetown Village is a beautiful facility. They have a nice, large exercise area and an area where you can go and watch movies. I'm not sure how much of this is independent living or assisted living, though, because they're all in one building: the independent, assisted, and memory care facility. They have a TV room and a large area with tables where they play bingo and different games. I think that could all just be independent living, though, because the assisted living was in another wing. The rooms surround a large area at the center where they have their meals and activities. I just don't know if assisted living residents have access to all of those other amenities; I am not clear on that. They're all very clean and well maintained. Delaney is a four-year-old, large building so with it being so new, you'd expect it to have a lot nicer, cleaner, and more updated rooms."

"I think it is very nice. It is about four or five stories, so it has elevators. The Heritage doesn't have cottages, and it is set up like a hotel. They are remodeling right now, and I think it is going to be nice. It has good food, and they have a beautiful swimming pool. "
