"The lobby at Brookdale was huge, lovely, and breathtaking. It was like walking into a country club, so it was really nice. Everything in the dining room was lovely. The people were really nice. They had nice rooms for activities, of which they had a lot. Everything was well maintained. However, it was pricey and wasn’t in as convenient a location as the others I visited. It was the closest to us but not as accessible. "

"My husband is in Sodalis at San Marcos and it is a very nice, clean place. The staff is very good and they have different activities every day like exercise, playing cards, dominoes, and prayer meetings. The dining area is very clean and good."

"My father lived at Brookdale Westlake Hills for four years. From the day he walked into the community he felt at home. The staff did an amazing job of welcoming him and helping him get acclimated. They took the time to get to know him and his interests. The residents were friendly, helpful and invited him to join them at meals and activities. My brother and I were concerned that he would isolate since my mom had just passed away six months prior to his move, but it was quite the opposite. He took part in all activities from exercise classes, to lectures, to trips outside the community. We felt such comfort and peace knowing, not only was he in good hands and looked after, he was having a blast. When his circumstances changed and he needed additional care, the transition to Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing was so easy and he was happy that he could still interact with the good friends he made while in Independent Living. And we were thankful that we didn't have to find another community. My family is deeply grateful for the wonderful care he received. "

"Belmont Village West Lake Hills was definitely clean and the people were very welcoming. The staff and the residents were sweet. My sister was with me, and we met with the director, the coordinator, and the nurse. They were all knowledgeable, except in a couple of areas they had to check on. They said they were gonna let me know if we could do this or that, but we never heard from them. It's a big facility and has a welcoming environment. They have a pool, and definitely a lot of activities for the residents. It looked like a fun place to be."

"We visited Brookdale San Marcos North. It was beautiful, and it looked like a luxurious place to live and age. Tracy was extremely helpful, and she still sends us a Christmas card even though we didn’t sign up for a lease or anything. My mother-in-law went up there for lunch one day, and she said the food was excellent. The dining area was beautiful, and there’s plenty of ambient light coming in. Tracy organizes all sorts of things that the residents who are able bodied and of sound mind can participate in, like parades for the Veterans Day, and the country cottage kitchen preparation comes in and raises money for the San Marcos community as a whole. However, the way they charge the residents is a la carte, it becomes very expensive and inaccessible for people that are not of a particular income bracket. Everything they offer is excellent, but they charge accordingly for that."

"I am very pleased with the care and respect my mother received at the facility. The staff call me to keep me informed of changes. My mother loves the Lord and staff will have Bible study daily with her to keep her spirits lifted. Staff are always smiling and loving. I really trust my mom is in the best place. When she moved in they assessed per prescriptions and found many of these could be eliminated. Previous facility over medicated. They pay attention if she does not want to eat to offer a substitute or assess if she feels ill. I am so pleased. My brother and I joined mom for lunch one Saturday to celebrate her birthday and the food was great. The food was served on china. I have observed this as well on days I visit and walk with her to the dining area, s as Jesus good food in nice table setting. This makes for a happy place to eat. "

"I chose Longleaf Bee Cave for Mom because of the extra nursing and physician care. It's a one bedroom with a large living area and a small kitchen. The staff is very caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. The upkeep is very good and it's a new facility. The food is good. They have an exercise room. They have a room upstairs for parties and stuff. They have a theater room, TV, and fireplace."

"I toured Brookdale San Marcos South. They offered anything I needed. The woman I met was very helpful. I was able to taste the food. I was able to visit the rooms, and it was nice and pretty well."

"I toured Golden Age Home Assisted Living. Everybody seems really nice. The common areas were well put together, and everybody seemed pretty happy there. The thing is that the rooms are small, and there was a funny odor. They had a resident that had a couple of dogs, and you could smell that there were dogs there. They had what they called a half bath, it was just a toilet and a sink, there was no bathtub or shower or anything. It was a common shower out in the hallway and you had to go out of the hallway to get to bathe. The regular full bath had a little stand up shower, and the half bath didn't have a shower. The staff was really nice. When we talked about accessibility, I immediately realized my mother would need more help getting through the community, and they would be able to provide. She immediately started talking about their sister communities and nursing homes. She was very helpful. She was able to give me information about that."

"Brookdale Northwest Hills was very high up on our list of where we were going to place our loved ones. The lady that showed us around was superb and very, very accommodating. She was informative, personable, and friendly. The head of the whole place also came in and talked to us. They gave us special attention. What we liked a lot about them is that they had all kinds of in-house services included. They have home health and hospice (it's not part of the memory care but it's right there with them). It was easy to access all the services we would need. The place was clean and they had beautiful facilities. It wasn't as new and quite as nice as the other facility we looked at, but we liked the room. It was laid out better. They had a courtyard, too."

"I took a field trip to The Summit when I was a junior in high school. Initially, I was a little apprehensive of visiting the residents. However, I soon began to feel right at home. It was a very nice building and very well equipped. All of the people there seemed genuinely happy. The staff treated them very well. Each person had their own apartment. They were equipped with a bathroom, television and decently sized bed ( I felt the individual bathrooms were very important.) Also, everybody was free to equip their apartment with whatever furniture and decoration they wanted. The result was a multitude of stylish and unique rooms. It gave the whole place more of a homely feel. While there i even got to try the food that they ate. It was pretty good. Far better than any would expect from an assisted living home. Local bands also played there on occasion for the amusement of the elderly. "

"Brookdale Lohmans Crossing plans to do some updates. The carpets need to be done and some areas need to be repainted. Dad's room is very nice, and he is quite happy. He seems to be very pleased with the staff because they are all very nice and accommodating. They take a group of residents to a big band concert once or twice a month, which Dad enjoys. Dad has been very pleased with the food, and the dining area is quite nice. "

"Brookdale is an average place. The staff is helpful. My dad is in a shared room, and it is adequate. The food is good. They have activities like exercise. They take them places. They have concert, TV, movies, board games, and poker nights. The value and the care stand out to me. "
