Assisted Living Communities in West Haven, CT

"My mother is in Carriage Green. I would highly recommend this place. It's very clean. The food is good. They also have a lot for the residents to do. They have their own shuttle bus, so they take people to different places. They do drives on the weekends. They have happy hour Fridays at 4:30 wherein they would have musical guests come in. You can have family come in if you want. The aides are very helpful. My mom uses her wheelchair a lot but they are accommodating to that. "

"The staff was friendly and informative. I spent about an hour and a half with my guide, who was wonderful. The bedrooms I saw were light and airy with a large bathroom. The residents were playing a memory game that participants found engaging; others were watching a musical video. The facility feels warm and safe; good choice of menus; lovely gardens and outdoor spaces. Loved that memory care participants are a part of concerts and parties with other residents. Small activity room and no real hospital care. Only two staff for 22 memory care residents over night. I would definitely consider this facility for memory care for a loved one."

"Just Like Home provides a warm and welcoming home. Mom has been well cared for, and you can tell the staff really love the residents. The house is clean, the food is good, and the residents have appropriate activities each day. We are happy to have Mom here."

"Our tour of Spring Village at Stratford was great. The director we met with was very bubbly. She was full of excitement and joy. You could tell she loved what she was doing, and she was very informative. It was a detailed tour. As soon as we walked in, the receptionist was very cordial. I met the chef who was serving some of the residents at the same time, and it was good. And the fact that they had a plate of what's the specials on display is good, too. Their dining area was nice. It's a little smaller than the other two facilities I visited, but they are accommodating fewer residents than the others. We saw a one-bedroom apartment, which was nice. It was beautiful the way they had it set up and everything. And the amount of people they had on staff in terms of RN, LPN, and aides, it was great to know that they were always on call, she said no matter what the reason was, which I thought was cool. Of course, all the residents get that bracelet or necklace sort of an alert if they have any issues or if they fall or something like that. The staff also said that even if their radio is not working as they press it, someone is there within less than five minutes. She said every call is an emergency, so I thought that was interesting that even if it's nothing serious, they still would show up in a timely manner. Their concern for the patients is amazing."

"Benchmark at Split Rock was very nice. I liked the setup in the lobby. I also liked the hallways. They did not look like a hotel. I was more comfortable going through them. The rooms were very nice. The staff that showed us around was very helpful. She showed us everything in the facility, and she answered all of our questions. We were very happy. This was our second choice. I think they were one of the best. I really liked the facility. I would highly recommend it. "

"This was my top pick - The memory care unit was awesome, right from the staff, to the rooms and to the programs that they offered there. I visited 4 over a 2-day span and this was it; however, they did not accept Medicaid after the money was spent and I didn't want to move my relative after a short time. If I had the money - then YES - hands down - no one else that I visited compared!!! "

"Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very nice. The rooms were very nice. The grounds were nice. They had activities, and they had plenty of outdoor seating. The staff was very nice, and we talked to some of the residents there. The apartment had a full bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a big bathroom. It was very spacious. I would live there. I, my husband, and my son each had one cookie, and they were good. They have exercise classes and movies. It was nice and clean."

"I'm living in Spring Meadows Trumbull and I love it here. I'm doing workouts and I'm into arts and crafts. I also play games, and I'm doing workouts with Keith, who is one of the physical therapy guys. They offer three meals a day and the food is very good. The staff is very nice and helpful."

"This is a wonderful community. It is spacious, airy and open. The residents have a full schedule of activities and a lively Happy Hour every day. The staff are friendly and helpful whenever I visit. I see them interacting in a caring and compassionate manner. I would definitely recommend this community."

"Maplewood at Stony Hill is a very beautiful place. It's very new, clean, and very well put together. It has three levels with a nice garden, it's in a nice location, and seems well-run overall. The place seems open, but they have a locked door so people can't just wander anywhere. They have activity rooms where they have activities every day, and very nice cafeteria. It's a very expensive place, but he has a lovely room to himself with his own bath and its right outside the nurse's office."

"Old Glory Days was wonderful. It was beautiful. It was very clean. I liked it because it was open. I didn't like it because there were a lot of stairs. They were very expensive, too. The staff was very down-to-earth and neat. It's a converted old house. I wouldn't recommend it unless you lived in town, and if you had a lot of money and you were by yourself. I don't think it was good for a couple. It was very well put together. It was nicely painted inside."
