The receptionist was very cordial at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. She offered us coffee. The staff I met with was very informative, too. She was good at explaining what they offer in terms of their assisted living and memory care. The room that we took a tour of was nice because it was a one-bedroom with a living room. The bedroom, I thought, was a bit small compared to what I had seen at the other place. They have a library there. But the place gave me that old-fashioned Victorian feel, somewhere along the line. They have a chapel, which the staff said they're looking to change.

My wife has moved into Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. It seemed like a nice place, the people seemed nice, and so we put her there. It's very well decorated, all rugs, and so forth. They have a large lobby, wide hallways, and rooms. You bring your own furniture. So, the rooms are all clean and painted, and each one has a bathroom. It's a modern facility, with a large dining area, and has an outside patio, which is all closed in with tables, awnings, and so forth. The staff is very accommodating and very pleasant. The people seem to know what's going on. There are a lot of functions going on in a multipurpose room. There's a large TV room, and they have sing-along, bingo, different games, word games, and things like that, all during the day. The other day, they had a wine tasting. It was well decorated. The tables were decorated nicely and to the season colors for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That was nice and different for them to do. There are approximately 25 people in the Memory Care section, and they're pretty much all in the same age bracket, 70s and 80s, and so forth. As the food goes, I don't know everything there, but I'm going to have dinner at Thanksgiving. They have snacks during the day. It's very clean, very neat. The lobbies are beautiful and it's in a country area with a lot of trees.

The tour we had at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very well done. It was done with the director of community service. We saw every place. We saw the various locations, the dining area, the rec area, and the other areas. I didn't talk too much to the staff. We met with the director and a couple of other people on the staff, and they seemed very nice. They had activities as far as games and television. They were doing some renovations.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull had a good appearance. It's well-maintained. The apartment was a good size and well maintained, too. The staff was knowledgeable and very professional. The dining area was clean. They have the normal clubs and there's like a list of maybe 15 things on the board, so the activities seemed more than adequate.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very nice, but it was big. At that time, I thought it was going to be like $6300, they said, "No, if we're going to manage this medicine, it's going to do this." It's going to be $7200, the price for just the assisted living, which was discouraging for me. We're going to be paying this out of our pocket, so that's a big consideration. But the place was nice and the people were nice. I had no objections to the place itself. I would recommend it if you're looking for assisted living. But the negative thing is, you have to buy your own furniture. It was an apartment, so you have to furnish the living room, the bedroom, and whatever kitchen stuff you need; that's a lot. They said you can't take something from your house. I'd have to go out and buy new furniture. Then if my husband stays there a month and he gets too sick or passes away, what am I going to do with all this furniture? So, that was a big negative for me and it's nothing to do with the place, that's the policy of the company. They had a stove and a refrigerator, but everything else you had to supply yourself; bedroom, living room, chairs and tables, dressers, and everything. That would be a few thousand dollars to furnish an apartment. The staff who took me around she was very nice. Everybody, there does a great job and they have nice activities. What I'm saying is not against the people working there in any way at all. It's just my feeling that that's a really big expense that makes it a real hardship. I was surprised that they didn't supply furniture.

I liked Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull a lot. It just didn't work out from a financial perspective. The staff was very nice. We saw the dining facility and the living room area. I liked the way the activities were conducted with a big screen TV and people gathered around or watching sporting events and things. It seemed to have a nice ambiance for the people that live there. There were kitchens in the hallways, which were nice places where people could gather, have coffee, bake some cookies, or something. It seemed to be a nice facility. We met one of the nurses there, and she seemed to be very considerate and have high standards for care for the residents.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very nice. The rooms were very nice. The grounds were nice. They had activities, and they had plenty of outdoor seating. The staff was very nice, and we talked to some of the residents there. The apartment had a full bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a big bathroom. It was very spacious. I would live there. I, my husband, and my son each had one cookie, and they were good. They have exercise classes and movies. It was nice and clean.

My grandmother is in the assisted living side of Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. The place is very friendly and they seem to have a lot of activities going on all the time with a lot of people usually attending. It's nice to see that everybody gets out of their room and does things. She says that everybody is very friendly and it's not hard to have friends there. The staff is very nice and if there's ever a problem, they contact us right away. If there are any kind of updates, they're always calling and updating us with any little thing so communication has been pretty good. I haven't tried their food but my grandmother said that it's not terrible. She said it's fine and it's decent with some meals being better than the others but she's also very picky. I've seen the food and it looks good. They have a pool, bingo, happy hour, movie days, and movie nights, and they always have parties for any holiday where they do big things in their main hall. I'm not sure of anything else, but I know that they have a lot of things. My grandmother just can't attend that many yet because she's supposed to be non-weight bearing. She needs the maximum care so it is quite expensive for what she needs but I think what she gets from it is pretty fair.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very nice and they were very accommodating. We went there twice because my mom had to see it twice. It's the one she ultimately chose. We saw their assisted living. I only saw two communities and both were good. I would say Middlebrook Farms offered my mother a little more in the future than the other one, that's why it was chosen. What I liked most is that they had the most to offer now and in the future. In other words, if my mother's level of care should change, they can accommodate it more than the other facilities. It smelled good and looked good. Everything seems to be operating well. We saw 2 different staff. We saw a bunch of people there and everyone was very friendly. The dining room was very nice. We also saw the activities room, the arts and crafts room, the library, the movie theater, a chapel, and their outdoor area. The living atmosphere seemed very friendly.

I like Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. They had a lot of activities that they did with the people. The hallway was wider than other places. They had certain areas that were designed and one was like a wedding scene. I think one of the people that stayed there was a seamstress or did something with wedding dresses; everything that had to do with that was out on display on a table. I guess people can walk by and look at it and talk about it. The staff was great, very informative and very caring. I really liked that place the best. They take them out to different places. They're always doing things with them.

My dad is currently a resident of Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. I'm not sure if I could say anything good; I would suggest to others that they highly investigate the offerings that they're giving to their parents and what level of medication they're subscribed to. Most of the residents in that area where my father is are purely medicated, and sitting in chairs, and not moving around. And that's very disturbing for us. The facility itself definitely needs repairs. They started to do it before COVID hit, and they're doing bits and pieces, but it's still looking very tired and worn out. There are several nurses that we've had positive relationships with. However, the head nurse and the head coordinator for the memory care, we've had severe difficulty communicating with them with their inability to respond to our calls or emails, and lack of feeling that they took our concerns seriously. When they say that they're going to do certain things for your family member and they don't, it's very heartbreaking. My father has been a resident of their memory care. The location is fine, I feel like it's sort of tucked away from the road, but they did that out of safety purposes for the residents. The grounds are always well-maintained, and they could walk around the building before COVID, but they haven't been doing that obviously. Some of the nurses I would rate a five, but the general administration I would rate a two.

My grandmother moved into Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. We just liked its location, and she knew some people there already. Our move-in experience went fine. The staff is very friendly, and she loves the food. The facility is beautiful, very spacious, and very appealing to the eye.

We liked Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull, but my mother is not ready at this point. The woman who gave us the tour was very good. We liked her a lot. It was a nice place, and the rooms were nice, and pretty large. They're in the process of renovating. My mother liked it better than the other place we visited. The dining area seemed fine. They had one room for all the activities. They go on shopping trips once a week and they go to the casino or different places like that. If you want to go somewhere specific you can suggest trips to them.

I toured Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. It was good, financially it was competitive with the others, it needed some updating, but it seemed like a well-run facility. The staff was helpful, very professional, the dining room looked fine, and I think they had some puzzles set up, and they had a movie theater and a gym.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull is fine in all aspects. It's attractive and fabulous. I give the workers a compliment every time I see them. They are doing a wonderful job. The staff is warm and friendly. The dining room is most inviting. I cannot think of anything that is missing. My wife's room is small by our choice and sufficient for all of the activities that she enjoys in the room, which is primarily dressing and sleeping. She is with her good friends in memory care the rest of the time. The only area that needs help is the driveway, which is a bit worn, but the rest of the structure and the surroundings are well cared for. I couldn't ask for a nicer environment.

We went to Middlebrook, but we didn’t get very far as it was too much money. The dining room looks very nice, big, and convenient. It looked like everybody was busy when we visited.

Middlebrook is a lovely facility and very clean. Mom had a very nice lunch there. The people we met were very nice. I had a tour, and they were very nice and offered a lot of activities. They invited her to come back and offered to pick her up at her home, which was very nice. The rooms were very nice, and the people were lovely. They have an exercise pool, a chapel, and a baking cookies activity when they got there, and they do offer trips. They do have a bus that take them shopping too.

We toured Middlebrook Farms, and it had a beautiful, luxurious feel. We loved the dining room. It was beautifully decorated and had a country club feel with beautiful tables and decor. There was a list of menus displayed before you walked in with many choices. Your family can come and visit and have lunch with you. It was beautiful, sunny and open. The rooms were spacious. They're building a pub where the residents can socialize. While we were there, a lady was reading a newspaper to the residents sitting around in a circle, and I loved that! They were socializing and discussing what's happening in the current news. The staff was unbelievable. The sales person was a super friendly, warm, inviting, and chatty person. While walking around, a physicial therapist introduced herself to us and welcomed us to the community. She said she would be working with us if we decided to stay at the facility, and then a nurse walked out of the apartments as we were walking by, and she engaged us in conversation and was joking with my father and mother-in-law. I only have great things to say.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull seemed a little bit older. The hallways were a little bit narrower than the other facilities we had visited. The rooms were very nice. The programs they had were very good. The facility has woods surrounding it so there was less sunlight. It did not feel as open and bright as the other facilities we had been to.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was a very nice facility. It was very clean and homey. I met with a number of the staff there, and they were all very nice and very knowledgeable, but I wasn’t able to choose this facility because the only available room they had in the memory care unit was a very small room, and I was looking for something a little bigger.

I had visited Middlebrook Farms and I felt like it was a home and every person there was a member of the family. Everyone seemed happy and friendly. There was a lot of stuff going on to keep them busy. A van took a group of men out on Wednesday nights and they keep them quite active. They wanted to know what interest you had, what you like and made sure that when you got there, whatever you were interested in, you could continue to do. They seemed to take a real personal interest. They were really nice and the rooms were very nice. I found their director, Bryan, to be extremely personable. He took me around and introduced me to everyone on staff. He knew everybody's name. They don’t' had a lot of turn over. The workers had been there 8, 10 and 12 years. In fact, when I left, I said: "Bryan, the heck with my father, I'm gonna come live here". It was a great place and Bryan is a great. In fact, I sent him a thank you card saying that: "Boy you are perfect for this job" and he called me up and thank me for the card. He said: "Nobody ever sends me a thank you card for a tour". Going there and seeing that, it was a very positive experience. I know that my father would be very happy.

Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull is actually quite good. We are actually very happy with it. The staff is very attentive, which we greatly appreciate. They have more activities than any of the places that we have seen. People would come in and perform and they have music at least once or twice a month. They also have all sorts of normal games for them. Nothing is unusual in terms of amenities but all are in very good condition. They do have some rehab pool there that she does not use but they do have them.

The people at Middlebrook Farms are very warm and welcoming. The whole experience was really great. There is really nothing that they could have done better. They tried their best to convince my mother to go. But she's just not ready.

Wrong meds, wrong times or no med's at all. Health Department has been there 2 times this month. The building is quarantined! Residents are told to stay in their rooms and are given cold food made in the closed kitchen. They treat residents like children and play hangman as activity. Outings are to Target and Stop and Shop. They make promises but do not keep them. Staff are all off same day and no-one is in charge. Items are missing from apartment and staff just walks in.

We are very sorry for the experiences you've had at Middlebrook Farms. Your opinion, as well as the quality of care the residents receive, is extremely important to us.
Although we employ the strictest standards of sanitation, occasionally communities such as assisted living residences experience the unfortunate arrival of the Norovirus, often referred to as The Dreaded Cruise Ship Disease because of its frequent appearance in such places. In order to protect the residents and stop the spread of this highly infectious, yet easily transmitted virus, it is in the best interest of everyone involved to follow our protocol of containment and disinfection of every surface. During this time (usually 24-48 hours), we do unfortunately have to close the public eating areas and lobby restrooms as the virus can be spread by the simple touching of a door knob. It is our standard and goal to eliminate this virus as quickly and efficiently as possible with as little disruption to the residents as possible.
In regards to the staffing issues, we regularly evaluate and re-evaluate staff performance, attitudes, and methodologies through ongoing reviews, action plans, and education.
Again, we are sorry for any negative experiences you had. Please come back and visit us again, as we strive to make improvements a part of our daily commitment to the residents.
