"My mother is at The Jewish Home in Bridgeport. The care she's getting, so far, is very good. The staff is very kind, friendly, and helpful. The room is very nice, the size is adequate and she's happy there. I'm also happy with everything, I can't say anything bad about it. She's also very happy with the food. The facility is clean and well maintained."

"I would say that the facility has very clean and well maintained grounds and interior. The seniors are brought outside and assisted with moving around the facility very graciously. The food appeared adequate and the nurses were attentive. There seemed to be some difficulty regarding the loss of personal items from time to time in the rooms but it was not a significant complication. When I visited it was mother's day and the facility was hosting live music. The music was relatively good for the venue and my grandmother was very happy to be able to enjoy it with her family. The space each senior has seems a bit small to me but perhaps they place them based on mobility. My grandmother, being largely immobile, perhaps does not need a whole room to herself that may be why she is placed in a smaller room with a roommate. The room had a window that opened out into the lovely well maintained grounds and it catches the sunlight very well, so I imagine many of the other rooms do as well. "

It's situated just half a mile from restaurants, stores and the Norwalk Public Library, which has a books-on-wheels program for seniors. The Norwalk Hospital is less than 2 miles away. Elderhouse, Inc. is a certified, medical-model adult day health care center that provides companionship and care for seniors, as well as a memory enhancement program for those with Alzheimer's, Lewy Body and other forms of dementia. A nurse is on staff six days per week to provide medical monitoring, and a staff nurse checks each member's blood pressure and weight and provides medication administration, wound care and glucose testing. The center's staff is trained to provide all levels of personal care, from basic supervision to hands-on assistance. The center also has a shower program for those who have difficulty bathing at home. Elderhouse, Inc. serves a light breakfast and complete noon meal daily, which are prepared on-site, with customized options for those requiring diabetic, low-salt, low-cholesterol and soft-food fare. Snacks are also served in the late afternoon. The center maintains a full calendar of engaging activities, including games, exercise programs, music, crafts and trivia. Transportation services are available.

"Waveny Care Center appears very nice and is kept well. There are many staff members including full time nurses throughout the night, janitorial staff, and other patient care staff. Given this, however, many of the staff, including the nurses speak with heavy accents which makes it hard for many of the elderly residents who are already hard of hearing to understand. Because of this, patient care is not as efficient as it could be. There are good aspects though. Each person staying in the facility has their own room with a bed, television, and bathroom. Having spoken to people currently staying there, they seem happy yet bored, and seemed all too eager to have a conversation with a complete stranger, me. "
