Elderhouse, Inc. is located on a quiet, no-outlet residential street in the central region of Norwalk, CT. It's situated just half a mile from restaurants, stores and the Norwalk Public Library, which has a books-on-wheels program for seniors. The Norwalk Hospital is less than 2 miles away. Elderhouse, Inc. is a certified, medical-model adult day health care center that provides companionship and care for seniors, as well as a memory enhancement program for those with Alzheimer's, Lewy Body and other forms of dementia. A nurse is on staff six days per week to provide medical monitoring, and a staff nurse checks each member's blood pressure and weight and provides medication administration, wound care and glucose testing. The center's staff is trained to provide all levels of personal care, from basic supervision to hands-on assistance. The center also has a shower program for those who have difficulty bathing at home. Elderhouse, Inc. serves a light breakfast and complete noon meal daily, which are prepared on-site, with customized options for those requiring diabetic, low-salt, low-cholesterol and soft-food fare. Snacks are also served in the late afternoon. The center maintains a full calendar of engaging activities, including games, exercise programs, music, crafts and trivia. Transportation services are available.

"Waveny Care Center appears very nice and is kept well. There are many staff members including full time nurses throughout the night, janitorial staff, and other patient care staff. Given this, however, many of the staff, including the nurses speak with heavy accents which makes it hard for many of the elderly residents who are already hard of hearing to understand. Because of this, patient care is not as efficient as it could be. There are good aspects though. Each person staying in the facility has their own room with a bed, television, and bathroom. Having spoken to people currently staying there, they seem happy yet bored, and seemed all too eager to have a conversation with a complete stranger, me. "

"My husband is going to go daycare at Almost Home Adult Daycare. They serve lunch and they have a scheduled program throughout the day. Basically, some of it the VA would pay for it, so that was important for me; I have some help financially. They were very nice. In fact, we stayed four hours, and they had an entertainer who was there, and the people seemed to be comfortable there. The place was very clean, the people were very nice, and they looked like they were being kept busy. "

"I visited Masonicare at Ashlar Village. I like it in general; it's very clean, modern, and new. The apartments were roomy and had lots of closet space with washers and dryers. They had lovely dining facilities, and they had a luncheon place that was also very good. They had villas that were very nice, roomy, and very clean. We had lunch there, and it was excellent. They had swimming close by, and they had transportation if you can't walk to that. They had bowling, wifi, a gym that was nicely setup, card games, service to a lot of activities outside, a little movie theater, and an auditorium where they had programs and people came in. They had a choral group that sang for other residents. We have friends that are there, and they like it very much. The staff were excellent. Everybody was so friendly -- all the residents and the staff -- and they knew everybody's names. And they were fairly priced. "

"This is an amazing adult day center for aging adults in our community. I feel at peace leaving my mom at a place where I know she will be taken good care of. The staff is very kind and helpful. The nurses are awesome and keep you updated on everything. My mom loves it! She looks forward to the fun crafts and bingo. They even go on trips! Thank you Day-break for all that you do and the outstanding care you provide to our seniors. (Oh and it’s bilingual - Spanish speaking!!) "

"My mom likes being at this nursing home, staff is very friendly with her and if they suspect anything with her health they quickly send her to get checked with a doctor and they contact me. I visit her every week and have never seen anything bad. They keep her busy with activities, movie nights, games arts and crafts and more. I have walked in and seen how exited the staff is to show me what my mother has done. Thanks to all the staff in Abbott Terrace. "

"I like Mulberry Gardens a little bit better than the other ones. The person who took me around was very, very friendly. It's like being on a cruise ship on land. You can do as much as you want or as little as you want. "

"The Strong House is an excellent adult daycare center. The staff is warm and caring and professional. The Strong House offers a variety of daily activities to accommodate the various needs of the patients. I highly recommend this facility. One of my clients is early-onset Alzheimer's and she thoroughly enjoys the two days she spends at the Strong House. "

"My husband goes to DayHaven 4 days a week. Before starting this program he was moody & depressed. Now he is Happy. I beleive he is very comfortable at DayHaven. When at home he's unable to do any of the projects that once was his life.At DayHaven he does activities that stimulate his mind & body with out him feeling he is being put under presure. He says he can't remember what he did that day ,but he must have enjoyed it because he's not mad at me. DayHaven has also given me back my sanity. I now have some ME time which was greatly needed. DayHaven also has Support Groups that have given me insight to this disease.We discuss Ideas on how to handle the constant changing problems of Alzeimers/Dementia.I now know that I'm not alone.The Staff are wonderful and well educated for their positions of taking care of our Loved Ones.I'm thankful for finding DayHaven!! "ARC-CT is a loving, respectful, clean, and professional care facility. My mother started out in their day care program and then went into assisted living, and then through both levels of advanced stage care aat this wnderful facility. She lost her battle this past Tuesday after four years at ARCC. The love, respect, dignity, and care provided not only to my mother, but to the rest of our family was beyond what any of us ever could have imagined. I cannot even adequately express how thankful I am to have ben fortunate enough to have found such a fantastic facility to care for my angel mother. "
