"I visited this facility to visit a patient who was injured in an accident , my first impression driving into the parking lot was nice place, nice area nice property, and the grounds were well taken care of.Entering the building I noticed the place was very clean,and the faculty were very pleasant, they were prompt and curteous.The directions to the room were easy,and direct taking me easily to the room.Once entering the room i was happy with the rooms cleanliness and the staffs care of the patient i was visiting,she was also happy with the expierience.I would reccommended this facility to anyone in need of care.My overall thought of this facility is a four out of 5 stars. "

"I have been acquainted with this facility since my grandmother was a resident here back in the 1980s. It was a wonderful facility then and continues to be. At present I am a daily visitor to a long time friend and am most impressed with the care and attention residents receive. The facility now follows The Planetree Model of care which makes it an outstanding facility. There are many daily activities for residents as well as many choices of dining rooms for residents to choose from. Meal preparation is of a high quality and staff with few exceptions assists residents in their meal choices. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean and kept up. Interactions with staff are wonderful throughout the course of my visits. I find the administration and the staff are superior to many other facilities. I heartily recommend this facility. As a licensed social worker I have visited many area nursing homes and found this to be the best in the area. "

"The facility is older, and looks as such in outward appearance. However, upon leaving your car to enter, one walks through a nicely landscaped patio area which is often a popular spot for residents. The facility is very clean, well-staffed, and there is always a staff member close by and willing (and more importantly, able) to help with anything. The food, from what my grandmother has told me, is much better than the previous assisted living facility she stayed at. Anytime there is an accident of any sort, be it a small fall or something very minor, a prompt call is always received. Small things are done to help make the resident feel more comfortable and at home. Overall, the care is very good and the staff is very concerned with the well-being of the residents. I recommend this facility without reservation and believe that it is one of the better facilities available. "

"My mother-in-law resided at Bridgeport Health Center for many years. The place itself was depressing as most are.Its hard to be more than a hospital setting while keeping a sterile and medically necessary type of environment. I feel they could do more to give the place a warmer feel. The staff though was genuinely helpful, kind, and caring, which is not something I normally think of when I think of a nursing home.Even though the center was not the most appealing to the eyes, the patients all seemed well cared for, and cared about. Most were dealing with severe illness yet the staff and nurses worked hard to keep everyone in good spirits. There were many activity to distract from the reality of the nursing home, and in general I would say that Bridgeport Health Center is better than most, yet could still stand some improvements. "

"I visited this facility in order to check in on a friend. It was clean and well maintained but many of the rooms were large communal rooms with up to 8 beds occupied. Once outside the rooms into the common areas, it was nice. there are several areas where residents can go to visit with family or friends and have a pleasant discussion. My only criticism is the larger rooms. I spoke with the nurse with my friend's permission and they were very helpful. "

"Different people I knew worked there at Bentley Gardens. It was a good tour. Their food was good, and the dining area is excellent. They have all kinds of stuff for activities. The rooms are good. The facility is secured enough for the residents. "

"Visiting a client of mine weekly at Hewitt, I'm impressed with the quality of care the patients get. I've seen how the staff is well educated with dementia/Alzheimer. When she gets irritated and confused, the nurses and aides quickly diffuse her. It's like magic! It appears that the people that deliver food to the rooms are trained in that area also. Very pleasant atmosphere! "

"My Mom has been in long-term care since Jan 2015 and is getting excellent care. The staff gets to know you personally, calls the family when there are any changes to meds, care, doctor visits, etc. The food seems great and is served from cart right to you--hot and fresh and not under a dome! You are given choices of two large meals for lunch along with desert and fruit. Maintenance even installed extra poles in her closet and room for her large wardrobe. They have a hairdresser who will also color and perm your hair (which large facilities don't do) The only con is that the outside area is in need of work. The only place residents sit is at the entrance (where vehicles and trucks are constantly arriving)--yet there are grounds around the building. There are two patios, but no furniture there or protection from the sun. Would like to see a gazebo on the grassy hill for those to enjoy and more plantings around the building and tables and umbrellas. One MS attorney patient had to wheel himself in the driveway to sun himself and this is sad! Took my Mom to a larger facility and there is no personal care and her friend didn't even know her caretakers..also no outside trips, as S.Lakes provides - to shop, get ice cream and other trips. I can only compare this to another facility on Long Hill Ave. where the grounds are beautiful, but not the care. So far, have no complaints about the treatment and care my Mom is receiving! "

"My mom stayed there for about five or six months. I was very pleased. The food was good. It was very clean, it smells very nice, smells very clean, it did not smell like a nursing home. They were very professional, very cordial, and they treated mom and the family with respect. I really liked them. They gave me great advice. They were very direct with most of my questions. "

"My initial concern while looking for the most appropriate place for my parents assistance living facility was the fact that the only insurance she had was Medicare. I was never so impressed with a place as I was with Park City Residential Care. My sister, cousin & myself had been making the rounds looking at various places and were delighted to find this place for her. It is disturbing to read the sentences "The zipcode (06604) in Connecticut, where Park City Residential Care Home is located, has a below average safety rating based on recent crime statistics." I have lived in Bridgeport all my life (70+ years), and know the area well. The building is next to a homeless shelter also, however in the entire time my mother was living there, I was never concerned for her safety because immediately upon entering the building, there were friendly staff at the counter monitoring the comings and goings of residents and staff. One time when I entered there was urine in the elevator, which I informed the staff before I used the elevator. Upon leaving my visit, the elevator was cleaned & fresh smelling. I have visited fancier facilities that always had a urine smell in them, but I have never been there when I smelled anythingdistatsteful. Not only did the cleanliness impress me, but the way the staff went out of their way to integrate residents into the group to help make them feel more comfortable. I visited the home almost daily, remained in contact with staff if ever there was a question I had and never had cause for concern. They were by far the nicest, most caring people I could have found. "I dealt with Astoria Park when I went in there to get paperwork. I asked some questions about the facility, and I saw residents outside. Years ago, my grandmother was in there, and they have a fairly good reputation. The staff were pleasant, and they had a lot of activities. They have a good relationship with the community, and I would recommend them. "

"My great uncle had a long stay here due to a redo of a knee replacement. His room was large and airy. Clean is not the word, this place was immaculate! The comfort you feel while visiting actually makes you want to return. It's a very bright and cheery place. His knee was well tended to and his continuous physical therapy had him mobile in no time. "My father-in-law moved into The Watermark at 3030 Park. They made the move very easy. They're very welcoming and the staff was helpful in the transition. The 1-bedroom apartment is spacious, very clean, sunny, cheerful, and well laid out, with a big bathroom. The dining room is cozy and small and not overwhelming, and they got a swimming pool. They have lectures, courses that they teach, and they have the Watermark University if you wanted to learn a language, and they also have art classes. "
