"My wife is at Autumn Lake. The care seems good but their communication is really bad. Particularly given this condition of the pandemic, the communication is not what it ought to be. The people seem very good but somewhat overworked. They are not all perfect, but they're certainly very good. They have occupational therapy and they have a gym onsite, but beyond that I don't know about their activities. It's a 3-story apartment block, and it is in reasonably good condition and fairly well maintained. I would not say it's great value for money. It's in a quiet neighborhood so it is quite a nice location and it's certainly convenient for anyone who lives in Norwalk."

"The facility it self may not be new and exciting looking however the care is phenomenal. Prior to Mom going into a facility we as a family looked at many options between Southbury and Norwalk some nicer looking then others. However none compared to the care and smiles from the staff at Notre Dame. One huge difference were the smells. I'm sure you know what I mean when and if you have been to many places there can be a stark difference. Notre Dame is clean and tidy and has an open door policy so you can just show up at any time. This is helpful to see how things are at many different times of day. As far as it goes we are blessed to have Mom there. "

"My loved one is in The Carlton. The food is as fine as it can be for a nursing home, I guess. The staff is OK. I like the proximity. It is close to me, and I think it is privately owned. They have activities like church services. They bring in music and dogs. They have social time. I guess they can improve probably on having more staff. "

"My aunt was referred to Cambridge Manor after a hospital stay for physical therapy. She was admitted to their short stay rehab program called Passport. I visited her at the end of her stay to see what her impressions were. I found the location clean and pleasant. It was brightly colored and there were residents moving freely throughout the facility.Upon meeting with my Aunt, I found her in good spirits and feeling much better than the last time I had seen here (prior to her hospitalization). She reported that she was very pleased with the facility and their level of expertise. She is very critical of hospitals and health care providers, so for her to be giving out praise is rare. She said she had been receiving therapy twice a day for the duration of her stay and she was able to move around without assistance now. While I was present she got out of her chair and used the bathroom independently, which has never happened before. Based on what I saw from my visit and the positive reports my Aunt gave, I have no reservations about recommending this facility to others. "

"The Jewish Home for the Elderly is an excellent nursing home where my grandmother has stayed for 5 years. She's checked on regularly, her health is closely monitored, and has a wide variety of meals to choose from. While the facility primarily serves Jewish elderly, my grandmother has been Christian her whole life and has never been judged. She would say she is unhappy but she hasn't taken full advantage of the benefits of JHE, including the outdoor courtyard and gardens where families can eat out with them, or go for a stroll. They also organize live performances from local musicians and actors. Last fall, they had a Rat Pack Tribute perform and it was a big hit. She also has a few nurses who have taken to personally visiting her for a few hours each day. She may have to move into a shared room, but I think it will do her some good to get a roommate. "

"Very professional, comfortable environment. The staff is without exception very kind. This is an activity oriented facility, so if your person is anti-social or not able to participate at all it is not the place for him/her, although the staff does work with the individual to acclimatise and engage them. "Day Care" is a misnomer however, it is not analogous to child day care where you leave your child for the workday. It is more of an opportunity for the person to be socially stimulated. More "nusery school" than "day care"."

"Waveny Care Center appears very nice and is kept well. There are many staff members including full time nurses throughout the night, janitorial staff, and other patient care staff. Given this, however, many of the staff, including the nurses speak with heavy accents which makes it hard for many of the elderly residents who are already hard of hearing to understand. Because of this, patient care is not as efficient as it could be. There are good aspects though. Each person staying in the facility has their own room with a bed, television, and bathroom. Having spoken to people currently staying there, they seem happy yet bored, and seemed all too eager to have a conversation with a complete stranger, me. "

"The Watermark was more suited to a person who had not gotten to a point of needing daily attention. It was more suitable for a person who was going in fully mobile and going to age in place. They had more levels of independent care and then moving to dependent care, but that point was moot for us because Dad already needed daily care. We had an excellent experience. They were top notch. They provided the widest variety of aging in place services. So, you could have fully independent care all the way to several times a day care. The person who accommodated us was very professional. She was able to answer any questions, offered valuable information, and was very open and honest. The rooms were spacious and clean. I only looked at the efficiency apartment and not the 2 bedroom apartment. It was extremely nice, and considering what they were, they were spacious. It was easily accessible with many safety features to prevent falling. They brought in speakers to talk on various subjects. They had nature walks in the adjoining sanctuary that they had. They kept the residents mentally occupied, and that's important. "

I was never so impressed with a place as I was with Park City Residential Care. My sister, cousin & myself had been making the rounds looking at various places and were delighted to find this place for her. I have lived in Bridgeport all my life (70+ years), and know the area well. The building is next to a homeless shelter also, however in the entire time my mother was living there, I was never concerned for her safety because immediately upon entering the building, there were friendly staff at the counter monitoring the comings and goings of residents and staff. One time when I entered there was urine in the elevator, which I informed the staff before I used the elevator. Upon leaving my visit, the elevator was cleaned & fresh smelling. I have visited fancier facilities that always had a urine smell in them, but I have never been there when I smelled anythingdistatsteful. Not only did the cleanliness impress me, but the way the staff went out of their way to integrate residents into the group to help make them feel more comfortable. I visited the home almost daily, remained in contact with staff if ever there was a question I had and never had cause for concern. They were by far the nicest, most caring people I could have found. "The rooms were always clean, and all of the staff members that we saw interacting with the residents were friendly and engaging. When we joined residents in the cafeteria at meal time, the staff seemed to be on top of the various dietary needs of the different residents. Activities were always available, and residents would win small prizes at bingo. On the lower level, there is a hair salon, where the staff was friendly and seemed to be very well acquainted with the different residents. We had less positive experiences with the administrative staff. When we would call, wishing to talk with our family member, we would be transferred to the desk on the floor and left on hold indefinitely. Several times, we attempted to update patient information with the contact information for another daughter, and the resident provided consent for her to be informed about her care. Nonetheless, that information was never included in her file, which led to very distressing results when a medical emergency occurred. "
