"I toured Charter Senior Living of Woodbridge. It was a good experience. However, at that time, they didn't have enough staff. They were in the process of redoing the whole place, so there were a few little glitches about the staff. The food was good though. The rooms were really nice and big. The upkeep of the place was OK."

"Benchmark at Split Rock was very nice. The lady we talked to was excellent and very informative. We looked at both assisted living and memory care. Everything seemed good. They sent us home with some sandwiches, and they tasted fine."

"We toured The Village at Mariner's Point. We liked the fact that you could get food from 7:00 in the morning till 7:00 at night. We thought that was great, because a lot of people, especially in the older years, don't want to get up right in the morning and eat. We saw both the one-bedroom and the two-bedroom. They seemed adequately open. They were clean. They were neat. They had been refurnished. They were putting in all new carpets. They repainted everything, so it was a very bright area. What they had set up for their models to show people they had nicely set up, so you could have a good idea for your bedroom, a chair there, and how you're gonna set up your little area. They had a little kitchenette area. They had a swimming pool that someone was in, and there was someone seated right outside, so if this patient/client got into any trouble that person was right there to help them."

"Robyn was the person who led the tour at Atria Larson Place, and she was phenomenal. She made you feel like a family. The property itself was lovely, decorated very nicely, and very up-to-date. The residents seemed very friendly. People would say hello. We were taken on a tour of their small cafe, dining area, and the activities room. There was a concert going on when we were there, and the apartment seemed lovely. Then we met with Greg, the business person, and went over the details. He was also very nice and willing to work with you. It was overall a very positive experience, and my aunt's looking forward to moving there. We had no complaints about anything. It was just lovely. We looked at a studio at first, and it was adequate. It wasn't large, but it had a little bit of separation from the living area. It was a nice set up for being a studio, but we preferred the one bedroom, which wasn't more money at that point, and it seemed to be a bit larger than one of the other places we looked at. Their dining area was also lovely. There were tablecloths on it. It wasn't mealtime, so there was no one in there, but it was set up very nice, kind of like a fine restaurant."

"I toured HarborChase of Branford. I liked that when you walked in the door, a lot of activities were occurring right when you first walked in at the front desk. They had games going on. In fact, before we even walked in, seven or eight people were sitting outside, chatting and laughing, and it was quite interesting. They have couches and chairs, as well as a little sunroom. They also had coffee and tea available, and people were playing cards at different tables in their activity room, and they also had a bar. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful, very informative, and very outgoing. Some improvements were up and coming. They were going to change, like different areas, part of the cafeteria, they're going to put in pizza ovens and do more of a hamburger and hot dog type thing, and then still have the chef that does the everyday meals. The structure of the building is unique, and some of the units even have different decor. Some have different windows and views, even in the one-bedroom units versus the efficiency apartments. They don't provide stoves. In other words, you don't have a complete kitchen. You have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and that kind of thing in the room, but there are kitchens you can use if you're entertaining, so it was a little different. Their rooms were a little smaller than the others, but the others had a complete kitchen with a stove and refrigerator."

"I looked at this facility for my 91yr. Old mom who has dementia. I feel it is a perfect solution for her . The staff were engaged and genuinely caring of the residents. It was a warm and cozy home without a hint of the institutionalized feel but at the same time I felt confident that the CNA ‘s were very capable. I would highly recommend visiting and considering this type of facility . "

"Benchmark Senior Living at Hamden is a very lovely place. It meets all my needs, such as nursing care, transportation, and access to food. However, the question is finances and if it fits into my budget. I saw the one-bedroom. It was very nice and certainly suitable for someone who needs a one-bedroom. The staff member who gave the tour was lovely and very accommodating. The physical appearance was wonderful."

"Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull had a good appearance. It's well-maintained. The apartment was a good size and well maintained, too. The staff was knowledgeable and very professional. The dining area was clean. They have the normal clubs and there's like a list of maybe 15 things on the board, so the activities seemed more than adequate."

"I love the Spring Meadows by Monarch. It was clean and bright. The decor was amazing. They had that soothing blue. And the residents that we passed by were really pleasant. They were all so very happy. The room itself was just amazing. It was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. The sales manager was extremely nice and very informative in terms of the community, especially the activities that are offered. It was nice. The receptionist was amazing, and the nurses that walked by were very well-mannered and very pleasant."

"Sunrise of Fairfield seemed new, fresh, and clean. The attendants were very pleasant. The staff member who toured me around was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time discussing things and answering questions. Maybe they could have had a little more fitness equipment, because they didn't have a gym. But they had a bistro cafe and a theater room. The upkeep of the facility looked very good."

"Sturges Ridge of Fairfield was excellent. The tour was great, and the staff was great. Because it's assisted living, they didn't have full kitchens in any of the apartments. They also didn't have a washer and dryer. You have to be willing to eat the food that they have. The washer-dryer was also a problem for my sister. She did not want to move into place without her own washer dryer. Other than that, it was quite a nice place. It's nice that it was in Fairfield and close to the downtown area. They have active social schedules where they take you on excursions. They also have a valet parking garage that hooks into an elevator right up to your floor. I think it makes it very easy for you if you still drive. The staff that toured us was very friendly, knowledgeable, answered our questions, and showed me everything that I wanted to see."

"What a beautiful community, they have kept our family member safe while providing wonderful care and lots of activities. Such an amazing, thoughtful and considerate staff."

"I like Motif by Monarch. It's very nice. It fits my needs. The location was great. The people there were great. The activities seemed to be good. It's an A-plus. They had a library and a gathering room with a bar, and that was nice. They can eat outdoors in good weather. Some of the rooms have a kitchen, and some of them don't, so it depends on what you need. I only interacted with one employee and she was very nice and very informative. She did a good job explaining everything to me. She was very knowledgeable."

"I like Church Hill Village very much, and we're considering it. It is a lovely place, very clean and attractive, and the food was very good. We were given a tour of the potential rooms we could rent and live in, and they were lovely. The manager is accommodating and great. His assistant is very kind and she made us feel very comfortable about my husband living there. They would take care of all of his needs. They have a beautiful restaurant where everybody seems to be getting good service and good food, and the people seem very happy there. It's always light and bright in that room. We were given a lovely lunch, and it was a very nice experience. The waitresses and waiters were very kind and patient. The physical therapy person was very, very helpful in that he would be able to assist my husband in getting the physical therapy he needs, which is very important. Other than that, they have basic art classes, movies, and everything else that a person could enjoy. The facility is well done. Everything seems to center around where the staff is. So, you're never alone. There's always somebody nearby. "
