"Charter Senior Living of Orange is absolutely beautiful. It has plenty of options for what kind of room, how much care you need, and how big a place you need. However, it was a little over the budget at the time, with what Mom wanted to spend or what she was expecting, so it was a bit of a sticker shock, and so Mom kind of got cold feet with the whole thing. The people who were running the tour were great. They were fine. They did a great job. They showed us everything we needed to see and told us everything we needed to find out. The place was only a couple of years old; it was just a great place."

"We toured The Village at Mariner's Point. We liked the fact that you could get food from 7:00 in the morning till 7:00 at night. We thought that was great, because a lot of people, especially in the older years, don't want to get up right in the morning and eat. We saw both the one-bedroom and the two-bedroom. They seemed adequately open. They were clean. They were neat. They had been refurnished. They were putting in all new carpets. They repainted everything, so it was a very bright area. What they had set up for their models to show people they had nicely set up, so you could have a good idea for your bedroom, a chair there, and how you're gonna set up your little area. They had a little kitchenette area. They had a swimming pool that someone was in, and there was someone seated right outside, so if this patient/client got into any trouble that person was right there to help them."

"I toured The Village at Kensington Place. It's reasonable. It's just that after a while, your money will run out, and that's the only bad thing. When your money runs out, unfortunately, you have to go somewhere else. They have a gym, a bar, and a bunch of stuff there. The rooms are very large. It's like a one-bedroom apartment, and they have two-bedroom apartments as well. The internet is included. The dining area is very nice. It's like a restaurant. You can go at any time and sit down, and you can just pick anything you want. They seemed very friendly and seemed to know everybody's name."

"It was our good fortune to be able to have our mother move into Long Hill Home as her memory issues became too advanced for us to care for her safely in her home. A beautiful residence that looks and feels just like a single family home, but with attentive 24/7 care. Excellent meals, well appointed rooms. Everything designed to provide calm and professional care and a safe and welcoming environment. I can't say enough about the staff and care she received. She was happy and loved. We appreciated that we were always welcome there. "I looked at this facility for my 91yr. Old mom who has dementia. I feel it is a perfect solution for her . The staff were engaged and genuinely caring of the residents. It was a warm and cozy home without a hint of the institutionalized feel but at the same time I felt confident that the CNA ‘s were very capable. I would highly recommend visiting and considering this type of facility . "

"Old Glory Days was wonderful. It was beautiful. It was very clean. I liked it because it was open. I didn't like it because there were a lot of stairs. They were very expensive, too. The staff was very down-to-earth and neat. It's a converted old house. I wouldn't recommend it unless you lived in town, and if you had a lot of money and you were by yourself. I don't think it was good for a couple. It was very well put together. It was nicely painted inside."

"I love the Spring Meadows by Monarch. It was clean and bright. The decor was amazing. They had that soothing blue. And the residents that we passed by were really pleasant. They were all so very happy. The room itself was just amazing. It was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. The sales manager was extremely nice and very informative in terms of the community, especially the activities that are offered. It was nice. The receptionist was amazing, and the nurses that walked by were very well-mannered and very pleasant."

"I liked the Maplewood at Newtown. It had several floors and they designed it nicely. The rooms, the hall, and the carpet on all the floors are the same. As people decline, they put them on the lowest floor, and they have no idea that they changed rooms or areas. That was very impressive. The staff was very nice. They talked to us and showed us the brochures. They showed us the rooms and explained everything. I had a good impression. They showed us the studios, but I was interested in a one-bedroom. They had a beautiful library, a TV room, and a sitting room. Name it and they have it. In case you want anything special, you just tell them, and they do whatever they can for you."

"My former husband is a resident of Maplewood at Stony Hill. The place is lovely. The people are great. A couple of times he tried to get out of bed himself, and he ended up on the floor, but they call me every time he does, and he's not getting hurt. The staff is very nice and very kind. They're all good. The food is nicely prepared. In the summer when it's nice weather, he goes outside. They have a lovely patio, but they also have grounds. It's just really a nice place. I have no complaints about the place other than the fact that he was having to pay extra, and they don't take Medicare. These people do a nice job on the food. Unfortunately, my former husband is on pureed food, but that's okay. It's kind of cute because what they do is they make it look kind of like what it's supposed to be, in the right shape and stuff like that. This place has been top-notch. This place is lovely. They're just trying to keep them occupied and try different things. They have an arts and crafts room, and another room to play games and stuff."

"I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Haddam. It was a very good tour. They had a couple of units available, and they showed them all to us. They would have worked out because they offered more services. It was a very pretty location. The facilities were very nice. We saw people doing all different kinds of things, and the staff was very pleasant. Everybody we spoke to was very nice and accommodating. And the cook came out to meet us and asked if we had questions. It was very nice. The apartments were very nice. They were one-bedroom units with bigger kitchen areas and full-sized appliances. I liked the rooms a little better. They were a little more spacious than the other place, although they were both in very nice condition. They had just painted and put new carpets in, and so everything looked very nice."
