"I visited Addison Place at Glastonbury. It was bright and cheerful, and the people were very nice. It was small, which I kind of liked because some of them are big and it's kind of complicated getting around. They had a patio out back and some areas where they could go outside. The person who took me around was willing to answer any questions, and she gave me a lot of information. She showed me around and showed me the room."

"The Village at Kensington Place was a very comfortable place. The staff was very friendly. The living quarters were nice. They had a lot of activities and stuff. They had bingo, card playing, exercising, cooking classes, and movie nights."

"River Ridge has a great memory care unit and a high staff to resident ratio. They provide quality care. Mom needed a Hoyer lift, and they allow that. It's a great environment. She's in the memory care unit. The staff is very good. The rooms are nice, modern, and up-to-date. The memory care activities are a little bit different than what you have in traditional assisted living. They have singing, trips to an ice cream parlor, bowling, basketball, and other modified activities. They have entertainment that comes into the building, and they have birthday parties. I like the staff and their willingness to meet my mom's physical needs. "

"I was accommodated very well. They showed me around, and the place looked very nice. It looks like they really got a good program over there. The place was spacious, clean, and everybody was very nice. They have a full schedule of activities and actively get them to the activities, which is a good thing so the person is not just sitting in their room. The parking was very convenient and there was lots of space."

"Brookdale South Windsor was beautiful. It was luxurious. They had pretty much everything that you could want if you were living with some level of self-care. The apartments were beautiful, bright, and cheerful. The people were pleasant. We felt very welcome when we walked in. The meals were served kind of restaurant style. You could either sit together in a larger group or you could sit at little tables just like you would in any restaurant, and the food looked amazing. The CEO was the one that gave us a tour. Honestly, he seemed like a salesman."

"Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks was beautiful. It looked brand new. They had everything we could ask for. We would have gone there if they were closer. It was our first pick. The person who gave us the tour was awesome, very friendly, and very knowledgeable. We did not see the rooms though. We saw the whole activity room, where they eat, and the different places that they have, like where they get their hair done and where they get their nails done. Everything is like one big open room where they have a living room and a dining room, and the activities are all kind of in the same huge room with the residents' rooms off on the side. They had an activities director, and they had arts and crafts, bingo, trivia, music, and trips."

"Colebrook Village at Hebron offers 24-hour nursing care. I probably would have opted to go with this facility, because it's closer to us, but they didn't have any availability when we visited. We toured the memory care area and they were very kind, understanding, empathetic, and very welcoming. It was well-kept and very clean."

"We went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Haddam. It was very good. The facility itself was beautiful. It was spotless and well-staffed. The people that we met were all very, very nice. The units were very, very nice. We looked at a studio and a single room and they were actually really, really nice. They got everything you would need."

"Old Glory Days was wonderful. It was beautiful. It was very clean. I liked it because it was open. I didn't like it because there were a lot of stairs. They were very expensive, too. The staff was very down-to-earth and neat. It's a converted old house. I wouldn't recommend it unless you lived in town, and if you had a lot of money and you were by yourself. I don't think it was good for a couple. It was very well put together. It was nicely painted inside."

"All American Assisted Living looked like it would be a very nice place. It was just a little bit expensive. They've got all the conveniences there. They have their own medical staff and your personal grooming is all taken care of right there. The rooms were very nice. They were fairly roomy. Their dining area was very clean and spacious. The staff was very informative. The building is approximately two years old."

"We placed my dad at Cedar Mountains Commons, and it has worked out just fine. We chose it because of the location. For us it is better because my brother and I both live in the area, so it is a place we can go to and get involved with. The facility is very clean and modern. The common areas, as well as the individual apartments, are all very well kept, up to date, and clean. Everybody is friendly, and I have not encountered anybody there who is not friendly. They give extra time. They learn all of the resident's names and family. The staff seems very attentive and engaging. The dining area is nice. The food quality is good. For the new residents, they send out invitations for up to eight guests to come to a private dinner. They seem to have things going on for the residents, but I have not seen them. "

"My mother moved into Jefferson House. She had been there for three months of rehab. The upkeep is good. The layout is fine. The nurses and CNAs are just wonderful. They're a caring group. My mother, who is fussy, likes the food. They have activities. My mom has been very happy there."
