I moved into South Farms in 2020. I lived in Brooklyn and after my wife passed away, I stayed with my son in CT for a few months. After losing everything close to me I became depressed. I would sit around and read all day, I wouldn’t go out, I wouldn’t smile anymore. My son said it was time to look for an Assisted Living facility, he really wanted me to engage and have some level of socialization. My son looked tirelessly for a place, we looked at over a dozen facilities, but I couldn’t picture myself staying at any of them until we came to South Farms. When we walked through the front door for our tour it was like my life had been playing out in black and white and I was finally able to see color. The place was immaculate, it looked like a hotel- I asked my son if he was sure we were in the right place! After our tour my son said we had another place to look at, I told him no, I don’t want to go…. This is where I want to be. It was the best decision I have ever made. Almost four years later and I can’t complement the administrative team or the care team enough. I’ve never been so busy! In the beginning my family would buy books for me, I had to tell them to stop because I don’t have time to read anymore! We have live music, BBQs on nice days, exercise, multiple outings every week, and even happy hour every day! Watching the sunset from the front porch on a warm summer day feels surreal. Coming from a big city I never had the time or space to enjoy a sunset. The events and holiday celebrations get knocked out of the park, everyone is in a festive mood, and we all look forward to celebrating. We make t shirts so everyone looks good and has something to wear to the celebration. Families are invited and the place gets packed! I have friends here, fellow residents to play cards with, go out to lunch with or hang out in happy hour with. The staff is amazing- they really take the time to get to know every single resident. I would recommend this community to anyone; they just get it right. I’m very happy with my apartment, the maintenance team is always around if you need anything looked at or fixed. No one is perfect, on the rare occasion that something doesn’t pan out the administrative team is always present, even on the weekends. They take the time to sit and listen to resident concerns and they do their best to correct any situation. I’m very happy here, and I plan on living the rest of my life here - in my home.

As a Deacon at First Congregational Church Cromwell, I work with the activities director to provide an ecumenical service for residents. The staff has been wonderful in providing a clean, beautiful and peaceful setting for the service as well as publicizing the monthly service. We have been provided with internet access so that our service can utilize modern technology in servicing the residents. Residents seem pleased with the service and often talk positively about other activities and experiences that have ben made available to them.

The Village at South Farms was quite nice, but it was a much, much larger facility and it was going to be considerably more expensive in the long run. It's a place where you have a bottom line rate, but then for any little thing you would need help with, there was an extra fee. So, by the time you need help getting dressed or you're incontinent, there's an extra fee for that, but the place was very clean and very nice. A lady gave me a tour, and she was very nice and very helpful. She asked me if I had a question and she gave me her phone number if I wanted to call her back with things. She was very knowledgeable about memory care.

I toured The Village at South Farms, and it was a nice facility. However, the studio apartment is way too small. Although, it offered a lot and was very clean. The staff there was very, very congenial. The unit was very clean, but the studio apartment is smaller than a hotel room. It didn't have any kitchen area at all. You could put a microwave oven and that's about it. I'm looking for something where I can do a little cooking. It's not necessarily all the time, but occasionally. I was told that people would come in and check on you, clean your clothes, clean your apartment, and do your linens and stuff. The dining facilities there were like a top-notch restaurant. There was quite a bit of activity and would seem nice. I didn't get a chance to do any of them other than have a dish of ice cream, though.

My dad will be moving into The Village at South Farms. The staff and the residents had a lot of energy. The people seemed not only happy to live there, but the staff seemed happy to work there. They seem to care about each other. They have beautiful views of the hills. The facility is clean and homey. The rooms are nice, and there are many options, including rooms with balconies or porches. The food was great. Their head of dining is a pastry chef, so their desserts are particularly impressive and delicious. It is an older facility.

My mom has already moved into The Village at South Farms. Everything has been great so far. It's close to our home, so we can go visit her. It's very clean. The people that work there are very nice and polite. She seems to like it there. She's gone to a couple of exercise classes and some music venues that they've had. She's very satisfied with the food so far. Her room is nice. She has a one-bedroom apartment. It's very spacious, and it has a big bathroom with grab rails for assistance. So far, so good. She enjoys it. The staff has been excellent so far. She hasn't complained about anything yet. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

We primarily chose The Village at South Farms because it is in a location that is familiar to my mother. She will be moving there next week. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and were very quick to answer any questions we might have. They're very empathetic to my mother's situation as well. I would say the room we saw was spacious and in good condition. It has lots of available natural light. We toured assisted living. We were in a dining room, which was very nice. It was not overly elegant. We visited the library too. I think we also went into a laundry room. Everything was very clean and well organized. I did notice raised planter boxes, which I assume are so that the residents don't have to bend over to take care of the plants. There was a very large porch with a roof and rocking chairs and benches along the perimeter of the property. It doesn't have a huge outdoor area. It was like a little covered pavilion. We actually ate in the dining room, and we were very pleased with the meal. The servers were wonderful too.

The Village at South Farms was very nice. They had a nice lobby and there was a room on the third floor that was like a grand lounge. It was great and very impressive. I really liked the staff member that I met there. She was very good at trying to find out what the needs of my mother were. They also have a beauty salon, a library, and an entertainment area. We ended up choosing another facility for my mom because the view from the room was better than the ones The Village at South Farms has. Otherwise, she would have been comfortable there.

The Village at South Farms was very, very nice. It looked like a luxury hotel. The apartment did not have a kitchenette, but it was very, very nice. It was a large living space with enclosed bathroom. The staff was excellent, very accommodating, very conscientious, and very concerned about helping me in any way that they could. They were outstanding. The initial lobby was beautiful. There was a little kitchen area that might have been for snacks throughout the day, and it was very clean, very organized and very welcoming. The dining room was setup very nicely, and it felt almost cruise-like with the big dining room. It was very nice. The staff was absolutely concerned about the residents.

My mother is at The Village at South Farms. It's excellent. The staff was extremely friendly; very helpful. They made my mother feel very welcome. They made me feel welcome because I was in Texas; I'm not even from Connecticut. The rooms are clean, well kept, and up-to-date. She is in the memory care unit. In there, they have a big recreation area, and they have a dining room where all the residents eat. She gets free cable TV. They have a kitchen area; they provide snacks and drinks throughout the day for the residents. I haven't tried their food, but my mother has no complaints. I'm very pleased with the facility. I spoke with my mother and she said the food is very good. They get all their residents involved in activities.

I was accommodated at The Village at South Farms very well. They showed me around, and the place looked very nice. It looks like they really got a good program over there. The place was spacious, clean, and everybody was very nice. They have a full schedule of activities and actively get them to the activities, which is a good thing so the person is not just sitting in their room. The parking was very convenient and there was lots of space.

The Village at South Farms was fantastic, and I very much enjoyed my conversations with the staff member. She took a great interest in me, and we went around the facility very thoroughly. I saw the guests, and how neat, clean, and polite they were. There were two elevators. I saw the rooms and had exactly what I needed. I understood the fact they didn't allow open burners or electric coils. The minimum that I need is a studio apartment with a bathroom, a sit-down shower, and enough space for a bed. It had a fantastic amount of videos and DVDs and rooms for reading and carrying on social discussions. The staff was absolutely marvelous. The place was spotless and incredible.

The Village at South Farms is beautiful. My mother is happy there. The people that works there are very friendly and they all seem happy with their job. There are a lot of different things for my mother to do. The food is good and the dining area is beautiful. There is also a private dining area in case you will have a family gathering. The place is very clean, smells good, and aesthetically pleasing. My mother is taking a computer class and there is a current events thing that she is involved in. I think she went to mass there also. They have been very gracious.

The Village at South Farms was an excellent facility. It is pleasing and very clean. The tour we had was excellent - not rushed, very informative. We had a lot of questions which were answered satisfactorily. As for the activities, they were talking about their travel club at the facility while we were there. In another room, they were having discussions about the Presidents’ Week. There was some baking going on in the kitchen. The food was excellent and the dining room was fine.

My brother lived at The Village at South Farms. We chose it because they were very professional and well-staffed. They communicate on a high level and updated me on a monthly basis. They had a lot of activities, entertainment, outside trips and family events which you can check their website. So far I've had no complaints with them.

My brother-in-law is at The Village At South Farms. We chose this facility for its size, the fact that it was a smaller kind of assisted living with only 60 residents. It also looked like it had a good staff-to-patient ratio. The facility is very appealing with the friendliness of the staff and their outgoing nature. The staff is also very accommodating. What I like best about this facility is the fact that they seem to monitor my brother-in-law's everyday behavior very well, e.g., the nursing staff, the physical therapy, etc. They're very communicative. In terms of accommodations, they have very nice and very appealing rooms. They were able to accommodate my brother-in-law's wishes, e.g., being on the first floor. The food is very good. For activities, they have a pretty wide array of activities like musical entertainment, programs, movies, outtrips, etc. Overall, it is a very positive experience. At first, it was an adjustment for him but now, he is getting more and more adjusted.

We were looking for a place that my dad could have his own place, socialization and care if he needed it. He wanted to stay in Middletown where he has lived for over 40 years. After a few years of living here we were concerned with his short term memory. He was diagnosed with dementia. We were able to keep him there but transitioned him into the memory care. It has been the best decision! Great place and people!

I thought that everybody at The Village at South Farms was very nice, courteous, and happy, which is unusual. They're cheerful actually. I didn't meet the behind-the-scenes staff; I just met their director. The facility was a little pricey; however, it was a good and comfortable setting. Their rooms were of adequate size. I would recommend this place. However, including the price, I would just give them an average score.
