My mom is moving in Aster Assisted Living of Monroe. It is beautiful. The members that I met were very nice. They met mom, talked to her and welcomed her to the community. She has a 1-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, refrigerator, and a microwave. It is very clean and is a newer facility. I have talked to the staff, the members, and even their maintenance people, and they said they would help mom hang pictures or anything she wanted on the wall, all for free. If she wanted to put new drapes there instead of the blinds, they would do that. They're all helpful people there. I've met about 10 or 12 of the residents that lived there, and they were all friendly. I was there last week I've moved in some personal things for mom and I have talked to some people there and we were joking around. They were really friendly and nice people. I have seen two individual apartments: I've seen one with the kitchenette and one with the 1-bedroom, I have not been in the 2-bedroom. My mom's is like an 11' by 12' 6" bedroom, with a big living room, a little kitchen area, completely furnished with whole size refrigerator, big microwave oven, electric range, upper and lower cabinets and plenty of cabinet space throughout the home. The bathroom is really big with a big walk in shower with a seat. Excellent. It also has all handicapped bars and adjustable shower head that goes up and down. They changed the carpeting for mom, just put in the new one last week because the lady prior had a cat. They are allowed to have pets, a cat or a dog. It's a very pet friendly place. Then they painted the room and updated it; it is very nice. We chose this place because it is close, it is right in town, right by a Walgreens and food stores. Mom had lived up that way for about 25-30 years, so she knows the area very well.

Aster Retirement was recommended to me from the assisted living center that my mom was at. It is a very nice place and she is very happy there. The staff is very helpful. The rooms and apartments are very clean, the size is sufficient, it’s well taken care of and they’re very nice. It’s a newer place. The food was good and the dining room was very nice, too. They have something going on every day, like bingo, cards, gatherings in the lobby just to socialize and they have book clubs. They have outings, they take you shopping twice a week, they will transport you to and from doctor appointments if you need it, and they have church services. They provided a lot of services, like getting your nails done. It’s very clean there. I was very impressed. I have no complaints nor does my mom about anything.
