"My tour of Brookdale Madison West was really good. Heidi, who gave us the tour, was very nice and very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our questions. The individual rooms were nice. We toured two of their different sizes, and we've toured a few other facilities and this one was just as nice as some of the other ones we toured as well. So that's good. The layout was good. It's a little different. They had good common areas and then two different hallways of the rooms. Overall, everything was clean and well-maintained. It wasn't the newest by any means, but overall, it was nice. You can tell that Heidi is passionate. She has been with Brookdale for over five years, and she's very embedded in the community. Like she leads Alzheimer's and dementia support group close by, that she told us about and invited us to. Not only does she work in the field, but she gives her personal time in the same field, and to me, that speaks volumes. We also got to meet the nurse whose office is in the memory care unit, and she seemed very nice and friendly. We saw support care staff people working with the patients, and they seemed to be engaged and on top of it. So that's good. I like that the memory care unit has a separate entrance from the overall assisted care. I like that it's covered and that it has a little bit of parking there, so if you want to take your resident out or come to visit, it's very easy to do so. But in one of the main rooms that we toured in memory care and Heidi acknowledged it, too, she's like, 'Somebody must have had an accident in here, and we haven't cleaned it yet' because it smelled of urine. So that would be like my one thing because there were some facilities that we toured that didn't have that or would have maybe already had it cleaned up. "

"It was spacious. The staff was friendly, and everyone looked very content. They have an activity room, a bus that would take them to different grocery stores when necessary, and an outdoor gazebo. People can also put their own flowers outside this time of year. They just don't have a large outside area. They have some decks and a gazebo, but it would be nice to have a bigger yard for the residents."

"My father has been happy since 2017 at this facility. The facility has increased their care for him as his needs have grown. This is a relief rather than needing to him to move him to another facility. Importantly to me, the facilities' core staff have become like family for me in navigating the waters of an aging parent. They are an advocate for my father in dealing with his healthcare. This "home away from home" gave me a chance to know my father much better than I could have if he had stayed at his home. Plus, he gets the care he needs and I get the support to focus on loving him rather than worrying about him."

"McFarland was an older facility and not as well maintained. The rooms were a smaller and not as well maintained as the others we saw; they needed some help. Their dining area was kind of small but adequate. I think they need to spend more time on maintenance issues. The people weren’t as warm and welcoming. It was the lowest price among the three I saw, but I think they were overpriced for the services that they offered. They had scheduled programs, but did not have as many offerings as the other places. "

"Madison Pointe is very nice and has limited choices. Everybody is very nice, the place is clean, and the food is good, fresh, and they don't use preservatives. My parents are happy there. The Monday through Friday staff is wonderful, but it's a little bit less on the weekend. The only drawback is when you go there, you have to flip off a little switch, wait for somebody to come and open the door, and sometimes that takes a little bit of time. It would be nice if they had a keypad or something where if you have people there, there's a code that people could use to come and see their family members. For my parents, the cost is reasonable."

"We choose Sylvan Crossing at Westshire for my brother because it is a small community and a fairly new facility, but we have not move him in yet. The inside is gorgeous. They have 32 private rooms and they are absolutely beautiful, spotless and very generous space wise. The dining room, the gathering area, the rooms that are open and available and all of the different rooms, I am amazed on how big they are. They are also in very nice size, well light and they are all in outset and facing windows. We didn't eat there, but I did see on the board what they are having each meal and it looks nice and well balanced meal. They tell me that they fix everything from scratch.The only thing that I notice is that they have a kind of a porch on the outside that has spindles and the spindles can be re-painted, but other than, they have a lovely parking lot and it is close to the water. The one who assisted us is the assisted manager and her name is Carmen. She is very helpful. She isn't expecting us, so we come in there as a surprise, but she shows us the whole facility. They have a list of activities posted, very morning after breakfast they have exercises and after that, people have a choice of what they can do or if they don't want to do any of them, they can go visit in the lounge area, go to their rooms or go outside for a walk around the facility. They have a walking path around the entire facility. It is very pleasant, homey and very nice. The location is wonderful. It is like in a cove and there is a lake there. The staff is very happy. They are doing their job and they are smiling. I will recommend them. "

"We toured Oak Park Place Madison. It was good. We saw what we needed to see and answered all our questions. The staff was pleasant and not pushy, showed us everything, and took his time."

"Eden Vista Madison was very nice and very clean. The staff who assisted me during the tour was very nice, very knowledgeable, very understanding, and caring. The apartments were nice. They ranged from large apartments to small efficiency. I saw a dining area, and everything seemed nice. I saw their activity schedule, which looked good too."

My community is based on caring for the mentally ill and brain trauma. We are a family base community and resident focus. We provide 24/7 care with 3 meals a day and snacks twice a day. "I like Charter Senior Living of Madison. The atmosphere was more like an apartment living. It had a full kitchen and a patio or a deck off the unit, so I liked that. It was pretty bright and airy. It's newer and everything. The staff was nice. She was great. They waved and said hello. I like that it is pretty convenient and everything. It is secluded but still convenient. It is still close to the city. They offered all the different services for whatever particular point your loved one is at. The tour experience is good. The tour person was great. It was very clean and very well kept up."

"Stoughton Meadows has a team of individuals that are there for reasons beyond employment. This review is pure and true from my experiences received each time I visited my mother, which was 2x (minimum), during the week and then at least once each weekend, for 9 months. I hadn't ever really spent much time in a care giving or Healthcare facility, at leas not as much time as I had prior to my mom becoming a resident at Stoughton Meadows. I never really understood the whole care giving aspect of things, truly never understood why people would want to be a caregiver considering the type of work they do and I assumed and always heard for the little pay they receive. Once I started spending time at Stoughton Meadows to be with my mom, as much as I could after work during the week and on weekends. I fully grasped the reasoning behind individuals whom are employed at facility's caring for others with impaired abilities. They truly have a passion for helping people, their story may have led them their due to past experiences with their loved ones or family members. Care giving is by far a passion rather than a pay check. The staff at SM's is truly incredible in the amount of people they have on staff that are sincere and entirely a huge asset to this facility. I've never witnessed so many employees for one entity in which are so vested to what the core reason in their employment is and that's the residents. This goes all around the boards in regards to their cooks, their activity director, and even their maintenance guy...all of them have such huge hearts and are so helpful without any hesitation, it truly shows they are the right individuals for their roles and Stoughton meadows and their residents are lucky for this beyond measures! "

"We physically toured Talamore Senior Living. The tour was very informative. The manager was very pleasant, and she answered all our questions. We looked at a two-bedroom apartment. They have lots of activities. The nice thing about Talamore is that when you need assisted living, they bring people to your apartment, and you do not need to move out of the apartment that you're in. They just increase the fee to reflect what services you need. It's a nice business model. As for amenities, they have a place for coffee in the morning, a craft room, and raised garden beds outside so you can garden in the summer. They have an activities director. However, it was way out of our budget. They had 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 10 dinners included in the rent per person."
