"We toured A Place for Us. It was delightful. I liked the owner-manager, and I got to meet the residents. The only thing I would say is they didn't have any outdoor space, and my sister likes to be outdoors and sit outside. She is a smoker, and she would have had to find a place where she could smoke. So that was a concern because there was no outdoor sort of sitting space or garden or anything. The owner was new. She had just bought the place in February. So it's upgrading. The rooms were very large, bright, and well-designed. I thought that was one of the reasons I was considering it. The whole place was very clean and it smelled good, which is always important."

"Prairie Ridge Assisted Living seemed like a nice place. It was large and all on one level. It was a small apartment that they showed me. There was a very nice meeting place or a lounge when you walked in, and that's where they ate. There were several tables and chairs in there, and it looked nice. They would have supplied the care my mom needed. I didn't see anything going on when I was there, although they said they had activities. There was an activity area and I think that takes place where they eat, in that same room. It was like a big lobby when you walked in. The staff who assisted me was somewhat pretty informative. It was a nurse's aide, and she seemed alright."

"We visited Eagles Wings while in the area looking at assisted living facilities to consider for our uncle. The outside had lovely grounds with nicely landscaped shrubs, trees and lawns as well as ample seating areas.We could see that they can accommodate a variety of ambulation levels and as needs change, the care team adjusts accordingly. There were ample community rooms for a variety of stimulating activities such as reading, games, socials, physical exercise and hosted events The fitness center had regular exercise classes, such as stretch and yoga and aerobics classes. There are also personal trainers who come regularly to instruct the residents. The meal menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets, as well as healthy snacks regularly offered whenever residents request them.The dining room was nicely designed with comfortable furnishings. The meals we saw looked and smelled appetizing. The outside activities feature many interesting cultural events in the wonderful Beaver Dam and surrounding areas, like films, art and other interesting cultural gatherings. The private spaces had nice, personalized decorations and easy access furnishings with privacy, fresh air and light. We were impressed with how nicely designed all of the living spaces were, and how comfortable the seniors appeared. The staff was also very tender, thoughtful and accommodating. "

"Remembrance Home is a place that I was looking at for my friend. Actually she was on their waitlist. It's small, so my friend would not get lost. Everything is in a circle; she would always end up back at the same place she started. They have a non-denominational pastor coming in. There is a mass service and a Sunday morning service. They have a salon area, too. I also saw some of the people reading. I would give this place a 5 because if they had an opening when my friend had to go some place, that's where she would have went."

"My mother-in-law is in Matthews of Horicon. The overall experience is fair. We like the activities director and the homey feeling. The thing we like least about it is that they are understaffed. Half of the staff members are great, and half of them suck. My mother-in-law hasn't had any complaints about the food. They have a salon."

"I wouldn't let my pet stay in this facility. The management is only concerned about their paycheck and maintaining their 20+ year of control. Residents are routinely denied general pain reliever, restricted fluids & given poor unhealthy food choices - despite the provider's claims. Psychiatric re-evaluation occurs only once every 3 months and does not involve any staff except the manager of the facility. Residents are responsible for all snow removal. Staff are highly unprofessional - bring their pets to the facility or their children during their working hours. "

"The Deerview Meadows assisted living facility in Mayville, Wisconsin looked like a nice place to live. We were searching for a new home for our uncle. The exterior was really beautiful and it really looked like someone took the time to design the facility with the senior's needs in mind. The grounds were well manicured and accessible for safe use by the seniors.This facility had ample community rooms including a well-stocked library and a number of stimulating activities. The exercise center includes daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. Residents may also safely navigate the lovely garden pathways and courtyards on the property. Private rooms were thoughtfully designed with beautiful living spaces that featured larger rooms and security features. The programs they have are designed to accommodate any level of ambulation and care, which changes easily according to the resident's needs. The dining room offers a nice variety of meal options, plus they will make special requests. There was also a healthy number of snacks available as requested. The calendar of events included arts, crafts, festivals, shopping, culture, eateries, art, music, library and films. The residents are also treated to many socials planned at the facility. The staff was very kind and accessible throughout our visit. They check on all of the residents regularly to ensure their safety and comfort. Clearly, the residents really enjoy living there and it looked like a great place for seniors to retire. "

"My father has moved into Prairie Ridge Assisted Living - Waupun. The rooms are a very nice size. They have a lot of open spaces where you can go do activities. It's just a nice and friendly atmosphere when you walk in. I think they are very on top of things. I had to take my dad to the doctor for something. When I came back, I said, "I'm not sure he's going to do this. Would you please make sure you keep an eye on him?" They wrote it down on the chart, and they've been very good about it. They follow through. The staff is very friendly. When you walk through the door, they'll ask if they can help you. They always greet you and say, "Hi, how are you doing?" They're very, very nice. I have not had any issues so far. My dad was there also about six years ago after he had some surgery, and he couldn't be on his own. He got better and left. I couldn't tell the difference inside and outside of the building. It's very well kept. The shrubbery outside is all trimmed nice, and the lawn was cut every week. The carpets looked like they were vacuumed quite frequently. They clean his apartment, and they do a very nice job. It looks nice there. They always have puzzles out. They have a TV in the main area that people can go to, and once a month people can sign up, like last month they went to Walmart and Hobby Lobby, and then they went out to eat. I think that's nice that they're able to get out and have a nice day. They always have something every day and it's always written on the whiteboard what they're going to be doing. They go down into the rooms and tell the people who don't come, "Hey, this is going to start. You want me to take you down there?" They are encouraging them. My dad doesn't need a lot of care right now and I know the more care, the higher the price is, but it's still pretty pricy. I would have no problem recommending them."

"The tour at The Meadows of Fall River was really great. The people were friendly. The place was very modern and uplifting. They also have a memory care facility, which is a good thing for us too. The staff was very nice, told us a lot, and explained a lot to us that we didn't understand. It was great. They have apartments with nice, large windows so they can see outside the lawn and other areas. They had two pages of activities that they do there, the trips that they take, and everything else. So, there was a lot to do. They had exercise, a movie theater, and they had a big library."

"My grandpa was at Larson House. The staff are great, they are caring and kind. Not only do they take care of the person living there but they care about the family also. Grandpa was there till he passed, they were so caring, offering water, coffee and the office girls were helping too, checking in on us, talking and making sure grandpa was comfortable. They really care about what they do, we couldnt have picked a better place! Joe"

"Home Again Columbus was a very nice place, well run and well kept. Both the supervisor and RN nurse were pretty good. They took us through and answered all our questions about everything we needed to know. They showed us a one-bedroom suite. The main living room was large and so was the bedroom. The bathroom was arranged. It was really nice, clean and very new for the older people. They gave us a sheet of what they have for the activities that usually go on around. When we went through, they were doing some. They have a movie theater room, a big dining room, and a kitchen. I was impressed with it. The staff was super and very informative. The facility is laid out nicely and it's fairly new."

"Highland House had units for low income people. This place had three different plans. They also offered transit, like bus service to the grocery stores and back. They also had a beautiful lounge right on the premises, and she likes it. It was also right across the street from the hospital. So everything you would be looking for is close and convenient. The staff was very informative and polite. What I really liked about the staff was that she talked to my mom and not to me. When I go looking with an elderly person to these places, they talk to me and ignore her, and she's the one who was going to live there. However, this lady, the first thing she asked my mom was, "What are you looking for?" It just started out really well, and the lady continued to talk to her. I liked that. I thought that was good. My mom was looking for an affordable two-bedroom unit so she could have some room. We saw some of the rooms, and when they had new tenants, they replaced the carpet. So, a new person has a new carpet. Then they paint it and it is very clean. The whole place was very clean and kept up. They have a community room, but they don't offer food service yet, and they said that might be something in the future. "
