My mother-in-law is at Bay Harbor Memory Care & Assisted Living. I know she gets good care there, but to me for being there, it could be a little bit cleaner. It's not a place where I would have my mother, but my mother-in-law is there. I'm not the one that put her there; my sister-in-law and husband did. It was one they could find at the time that would take her. My mother-in-law got one of the bigger rooms. It's not too bad. For her, it's okay. I have no idea if they have activities or not because all I see is the staff that's there. The dining area is not as nice. It's an older place, too. In terms of value for money, my mother-in-law pays more than my mother does, so I would say it's kind of overrated. To me, it's pretty high there.

I wasn't too happy with Bay Harbor at Arcadia Assisted Living. When you walk in the front door to the right were the memory care people. When you go to the door to the left, it was the people 55 and up that needed some extra help like me. There were ten people on each side. It just didn't appeal to me. The one who toured me around was very friendly, but the main guy who would've known everything wasn't there. The apartment had no kitchen. There was a storage area if you wanted to put in crackers or something. The apartment was small. They only showed us pretty much that apartment and an area where people were sitting and eating. It seemed clean, and they had things there to take your temperature and sanitize your hands when you came in. I just didn't like it. It didn't appeal to me. It wasn't what I was looking for. Somebody else might like it.

My mother is in an assisted living called Bay Harbor in Beaver Dam. She moved in last October and right now, she's not thrilled about it. I don't know if she's ever going to be thrilled to go to any place. It's because she has dementia so she doesn't really understand. As of now, there's been some issues already. She does not like the food, she said it's nothing special. For the services that they give, I think that they are overpriced. They aren't doing very much, they only do bingo every other week. They aren't doing very many activities right now. The facility itself is newer, that's one of the reasons why we picked it. Her room is fairly good, it's bigger than some of the other ones which is, once again, why we chose it. However, what I don't like there is that they had an issue with a light in my mother's bathroom and it took them 3 days or more to replace it. They didn't have a maintenance person on-staff so they have to hire people out and I don't agree with that.

Very little staffing or staffing attention to residents. Owners have been run out of other facilities and have a very poor standing with the state of WI. Little activities for a large majority of the residents. Many smokers who sit outside the main door and smoke drifts in. Not well kept up as dirty carpets, you have to watch where clothes disappear to and bedding is not always clean. Some residents smell like urine and their rooms too.

I don't like Bay Harbor (Bay Harbor at Arcadia Assisted Living). Everybody was just perched in places with their wheelchairs. The rooms were nice though, and there was a large dining area. However, I didn't see very many caregivers. I also think that it is too big for my friend; she would get herself lost there.
