"My father-in-law resides at The Waterford at Plymouth right now. He is in their Dementia unit. I like that they offer different tours or trips outside of the facility. They go to restaurants, and they've gone to Reins, a non-profit facility with horses. They also offer three meals a day. The staff is very helpful and patient with their patients. The facility is very clean, and they also have activities like bingo."

"The Sylvan Crossings at Hunter Ridge assisted living facility in gorgeous Beaver Dam, Wisconsin was one of the places we saw while looking in the region for our uncle. The lovely exterior looked like other resorts in the area, with beautifully landscaped grounds and tree-lined walkways.The staff was kind and caring to all of the residents that we saw -- of varying capabilities. The communal rooms included a lovely library and the ability for seniors to participate in a number of stimulating activities. The exercise center includes daily yoga and aerobics classes. The equipment is available throughout the day and they receive assistance whenever necessary. The residents may also safely navigate the lovely grounds for exercise. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The living spaces were generous, with plenty of space to house seniors' cherished possessions.The many planned activities feature everything from exercise classes to book readings and arts and crafts. The residents are taken to many interesting cultural events in the region. Weather permitting, they go on nature walks to enjoy all that Beaver Dam has to offer. It was clear that all of the residents' needs are met here. The decor of the entire facility was really fresh and bright. The staff was also exceptionally attentive -- and we could see how any senior would really enjoy living in this environment they consider their home. "

"I think St Clare Terrace is a lovely place, but it is quite pricey. It is right next to a hospital. It is very nice, and I am very interested with it, but it is quite expensive and I don't know if I can afford it. "

"My wife's been in St. Francis Terrace for almost a year now. It's clean, nice, they're doing their job, and it's close to where I live. Everything is fine. My wife is very happy. "

"Overall the service is good quality. The staff is fairly friendly and helpful. The meals are adequate. Sometimes care between shifts could have better continuity. Maintenance issues have been addressed fairly promptly. There are various social activities listed on a calendar that's kept in the room. Examples of these activities are bingo, happy hour, movies, and others. One problem we have experienced is that though there is a shuttle to the hospital, it is only available until 5PM. My grandpa had to get to the hospital fairly quickly one day shortly after 5PM but they were not able to take him. We had to drive in in order to take him to the hospital. It would have been better to get him there sooner. Overall the facility is nice. The rooms have amenities to make living there more comfortable for the guests. The bathroom facilities are up to date to accommodate people with disabilities. Elevators are available with easy to access buttons for people in wheelchairs. There is an outdoor patio area where the guests can enjoy the fresh air. People in power chairs are allowed to travel to local shops. "

"A friend was once a resident of Granpark Terrace. The facility itself looked very good. The apartment that they had was very nice. It had a separate bathroom, a separate bedroom, and a separate living area. The kitchen was supplied with a dishwasher, and they had a clothes washer and dryer right in the place. The problem, however, was with the staffing, or the lack thereof. They had, I believe, 12 apartments and they only had two occupancies because people were leaving. The physical appearance was good, the facility was nice, but they didn't have any maintenance staff or anybody that would be able to address any maintenance issues. They didn't have anybody. Once in a while, they'd have somebody, so it was very minimal and very, very hard to get assistance if the assistance was needed. It was bad. The food was served to the room, and it was typical institutional food that wasn't anything spectacular. They have hotdogs and beans for dinner and things like that and for lunch, it would be something like a hamburger with corn or mashed potatoes. The food was nothing to write home about. My friend is glad she went back over to the nursing home side from the assisted living because at least she has more on-hand staff, and she could depend on getting her medications on time. Even though the nursing home side is understaffed, assisted living was even worse. They're supposed to have these little lapel button things that if they need help or they fall, they'd be able to get hold of somebody and it's nonfunctional. They didn't work. There was nobody they could call to get help. If she needed somebody, she'd have to call the nursing home. There was no direct call to the nursing home side. She'd have to call two, press three or four buttons like if you want this, press one, now that you're here, if you want this or this, press one or if you want this, press two. So, you have an elderly person on a phone trying to sort through trying to get help. Terrible. The services and the care that they give are really bad. If all you want is a nice apartment, I won't be spending $3500 for that kind of service. It's terribly managed."

"We moved my mother to Frontida Adelaide Place. It's very small, so there's not a lot of residents. So, it's a smaller community than where she was, and they have plenty of activities, and their meals are small homemade meals. They're very attentive and very professional, they answer our questions, and our very caring. It's a very beautiful place, very nice, and clean. My sister likes that it's a good price for what she's getting."

"When the time came for our mother to go to a home--we took her to several places & even though all were nice--she just really liked Sage Meadows at 597 Kingswood Ave. best. She enjoyed everyone & everything & was well taken care of by the staff. They loved her & she loved them back. She was so happy to have a religious service & never missed any. The activities were fun for her & she was known to be the "lucky" one at games. The atmosphere, food, cleanliness, residents & awesome staff made her feel right at home. All this made our family right at home & welcome too. It's a wonderful place to have been at."

"When we arrived at the Sterling House of Fond du Lac assisted living facility, we could see that it was a charming, homey community. We could see that the facility could accommodate all levels of ambulation. We were searching for a new home for our aunt. The outside was very nicely maintained. We could see that there was plenty of space to have cookouts, parties and picnics. The grounds offered easy access for residents, where they enjoy walking freely and safely. The foyer was fresh and bright with very nice decorations and furniture. All of the indoor rooms had fresh air and light. The colors used throughout the building were cheery, but still soothing and comfortable. The rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished. Activity rooms had comfortable furniture where the seniors can easily socialize, make crafts, play games, watch TV and also participate in many other stimulating activities. Seniors use the exercise room and go on daily walks. They can also take yoga and aerobics classes are offered. The residents go on regular trips to visit the many Fond Du Lac casual and fine dining eateries. They also participate in many of the surrounding area cultural events offered on a regular basis. The dining room was beautiful. The menus all had healthy food options for all diet types. Snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The food we saw looked and smelled appetizing. The private living spaces featured plenty of space in nicely decorated surroundings. Natural light and fresh air was plentiful, with very comfortable furniture. The residents looked content and engaged in their environment with kind and caring staff. "

"The Meadows of Fond du Lac was OK. They answered my questions regarding the services provided. They were good. The rooms were more like hotels. It's a multi-story building. They have a dining room and an area where you can do exercises with some equipment. They have various levels of service and the fee was charged according to the needs of the resident. So, if you're fairly independent, it was a lower fee, and if you needed more assistance with self self-care kind of activities, then they add additional fees to that. So, that was a nice thing. It was a flexible fee structure. I just didn't see the whole building."

"Woodlands was recommended to me by several nurses and social workers at both the hospital and the rehab facility. I didn't see many staff. It was just mostly the person who was touring me and one or two people that just popped in to asked a question to that individual. The rooms were of decent size and clean. The only thing that I noticed which was very personal to me is that the rooms all seemed very dim. It was not brightly lit. I was shown the activity list, but I didn't see any activities. They need to have brighter, cheerier, and more positive looking place. "

"Touchstone Living was nice, and it was new. They had a chef, so the food I got was really good. The places are higher than other two; it was $5000 versus the other ones that started at $4000. Everything was really clean, and the ceilings were a little bit higher. The staff was nice, they did have activities for the people, and they had a room that they use for crafts. "
