I am a friend or relative of resident

The staff turnover at this place is unbelievable. Every other month there is a new person running the place! The owners seem to just tell the families what we want to hear. My grandmas friends seem to be moving out of here and i think we will be looking to relocate very soon.

Thank you for taking the time to communicate to us why our service did not meet your expectations. We understand a few "Growing Pains" were felt by all as new owners transitioned into Emerald Ridge Assisted Living. Please accept our sincerest apology for any trouble or inconvenience we have caused you. As with any changes in ownership, staff changes were certain to follow. As new owners, we have very high standards when it comes to providing care to our residents. We only hire Certified Nursing Assistants who can demonstrate competency in all of the required skills to care for your loved one. My hope for you is to hang in there with us a bit longer, as we get settled I assure you your loved one will benefit from the years of knowledge and experience we bring to Emerald Ridge Assisted Living.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandmother has been disabled for over 10 years because of a car accident, and as such, needs a lot of help with anything mobility related. She is essentially confined to a wheelchair, but she says the staff are happy to help her move around in general, use the bathroom, change clothes, etc. Upon my visit, the staff seemed exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the facility itself was very clean and in good condition. The few residents that were out in the common areas seemed rather cheerful as well. Everything was brightly lit and colorful, and it seemed to be an overall pleasant and warm place. Bulletin boards were covered with calendars, schedules, menus, and the like, so it seemed like there was no shortage of activities to engage in. My grandmother loves talking and telling stories about her interactions with staff members and the other residents, so I would say she is very pleased with her home.

Both men and women call our community home. Their ages vary from 65 to 100+. Our residents enjoy daily activities such as morning exercise, bingo, movie nights, garden club and much more.

We have a bus used for activities. Also city and county taxi available.

The menus at the Waterford change with each season. We serve more soups and heavier meals during the winter months and lighter meals with fresh fruits and veggies during the spring and summer months when they are in season.

It depends on what type of care and services each resident needs. We adjust our staffing ratios to make sure each resident has prompt access to a team member all day and night.

The Waterford offers a variety of activities for the residents. We can send you a copy of the activity calendar if you would like to see all of the fun things we do each day. We adjust the difficulty of the activity so that each resident can successfully participate.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Each resident's physician is kept up to date with any changes. The team watches for any changes and promptly reports them to each person who is a part of caring for that resident including the family. The resident's personal physician can complete a cognitive exam so that you have an idea on how early or late your loved one may be in the memory loss continuum.

What techniques does The Waterford at Hartford use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

The staff spend 1:1 time with residents who need special attention to ensure they get the proper nutrition at meal times. We can also help to physically assist a resident who may struggle to use a utensil to eat on their own. We provide lots of verbal encouragement as needed too. We can also prepare food with different textures, consistencies or even cut the meal up into bite sized pieces. Sometimes residents are most successful when they eat with their hands for finger foods which is OK. Everyone's needs are different and being different is something to celebrate. It's important to meet each resident where they are at, and not worry about fitting in or doing something how we want them to.

We are not affiliated with a medical system as we allow residents to choose their preference for care. Home care, therapy and hospice services are more than welcome to join our team in providing quality care to our residents.
