"Oak Hill Terrace Senior Living was a very, very nice place. It was bigger, larger. The two ladies gave us a very big tour of the place. They offer a lot, full meals, and full care. They offer two-week respite care, but they showed us one of the apartments available which was beautiful, but you need your own furniture. Everything is so clean."

"My aunt stayed at Discovery Commons Brookfield, which was very nice but pricey. The people who worked there were wonderful. The facility was new and clean. It was state of the art, but parking was also a problem there. The rooms were smaller than the ones I looked at for my mom, but they were very nice. They did have very nice walk-in showers with a seat hanging from the wall, which was very nice so my aunt could be independent in showering herself. I ate lunch with my aunt, and the food was very good."

"My mom is going to move into The Arboretum Senior Living. She is going to start in independent living. It is welcoming and inviting. People are moving about, and there are enough activities to keep going. Everybody was, 'hello, hello.' They're very friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean. They were larger than I expected. I like the fact that her independent and assisted living could be in the same apartment, so I don't have to move her every time. I like the convenience of her being able to stay. The dining area is very welcoming. We have not eaten there. One of the big things my mom wanted is, my mom is a card player, she's a nature walker, she's big on her spiritual life, and she's a crafter, and all of that is offered. When she moves towards memory care, I like the fact that they have a handle on keeping them busy, knowing about the sundowning and knowing about it and the various aspects of it. When I asked about ratio turnover, I know Arboretum is rebuilding itself up, but everybody there seems to be back on board. My mom is going to have a balcony. They have a pond, and they have a nature walk as well. They have a walkers' group. The entire back area is all wooded, so it's very nature-oriented, which is very calming. They have a courtyard, so they have things where you can go and relax. The staff was quick in responding. They went out of their way to give an evening tour because I couldn't come during the day with my work schedule. So they re-worked their schedule with me. They're very kind and very open to questions and sharing information. The communication was strong from the minute you walk in with the reception desk all the way through. Even on the tours, the workers were greeting you. It's an older facility, so if somebody is looking for like the newest of new amenities, that's not what they're going to get there, but they're going to get every amenity that they need."

"Village at the Falls was a very nice place. They had everything to offer. The people were very nice. The person I sat down and talked with went over everything. We toured the facilities. As we ran into different people, they were all saying "Hi! Welcome to the Falls". It was a very good experience. We looked at the rooms and the different options we had. We looked at the menus as far as the meals. They had all the activities going on. If I would ran into somebody, that would be something I would recommend. "

"The independent living at Library Square Senior Living was very nice. The person who gave the tour took us all over and was very pleasant. I felt very comfortable. The rooms were a little smaller than what I wanted, but I would fit in fine. It's very clean and has a lot of activities for the residents. It was an older building, but it was still kept up very well. They have underground and surface parking, but there was a waiting list for parking inside. The area is very nice, and the person who gave the tour was very personable."

"We went to see Hart Park Square Senior Living last week. I saw both independent and assisted living and it was nice. Their assisted living is integrated with independent living. They don't put them in separate buildings. What I didn't like is that they don't have an outdoor gathering area. They don't have a patio or anything. They have a little table outside the front but there are no outdoor or walking paths or anything. The employees seemed very nice and helpful. For activities, they have games and stuff but not a lot of physical ones that I saw, maybe a chair yoga "

"I toured the Layton Terrace Senior Community. I liked it. It was very nice, but it wasn't what I was looking for. It didn't have the amenities that I was looking for. I just visited with the person in charge, and she was wonderful. She explained everything that they had and showed me around the nice room. Most of them were full, so we had to depend on one of the residents to allow us to come into their apartments to look at them. They were all very accommodating. They were all very friendly. They were all very nice. The dining area was very nice. It was just a very nice size for the amount of people that were there. It wasn't a crowded place."

"My husband is in Laurel Oaks. By the nature of his disease, he is very unhappy. But the place itself and what they offer is as good as can be considering the type of clientele they have. I always feel they are shorthanded; their staff isn't enough, which is understandable because it is a hard job. This is the only negative, and it is not terribly negative because they are working very hard there. I know that they are doing their best. The upkeep is decent. The food is 50/50. Everybody is complaining, not only in the Alzheimer's unit, but even in the assisted living. The activities are very good. Every day, they have activities almost every hour. They have the staff for it, and there are no complaints about it. "

"We are residents of StoryPoint Mequon. We have found the staff to be courteous and accommodating. The residents tend to look out for one another and there's a sense of community here. The residents are made to feel welcome and valued. There is an effort by the staff to learn and call residents by their names, which is very helpful. The public areas are kept clean and comfortable. The menu items are varied and tasty. My husband came here under respite and I came along with him. He is the one who is actually in need of the services. We also contract for nursing services and the staff is housed right here in the building. In addition to just living here, the main thing is that he gets the care he needs, and that's 24 hours. Right now, we are in a one-bedroom apartment, and because we are going to be staying beyond the respite period, we are taking a two-bedroom apartment. We will be moving there within the next few days. The main lobby does have a coffee bar and that has coffee, snacks, and fresh fruit throughout the day. In addition to the dining room, there is a private dining room which families can use if they happen to have guests coming in. There is an arts and crafts room there. This is all on the lower level. On the second floor, there is a community room and various events are held there. We go to the Bible study, which is held there, they do bingo there, and other types of activities. There is a library also on the second floor. Throughout the building, there are small sitting areas where there are chairs and just comfortable areas for people to sit or maybe visit with a guest. There is a gym on the lower level, so there are opportunities for people to engage in activities throughout the day and throughout the week, and there is a printed schedule for the month and residents can then choose what appeals to them. I would like to see a little bit more discretion and better modulated voices when staff are engaging with one another and certainly when they are speaking with clients in public places. Those would be my comments with regard to areas of improvement."
