"My husband and I visited Evergreen's independent living a few weeks ago and liked it quite well. I thought it was nice, and it seemed like a lot was going on all the time. We saw one apartment. We wanted a 2-bedroom, and we liked how they just finished cleaning it up. They do that when people leave. We saw people coming in for activities, and I think a lot was going on. The staff who showed us around was very good. He was very nice and accommodating."

"KindredHearts seemed really nice. There were independent rooms with living rooms and a little kitchenette and a bedroom and bathroom that were on a lower level. It seemed like a really nice size. We saw a studio type apartment in the assisted living part of the facility that was a nice size, as well. The peopled seemed very nice. They had a dining room that looked really clean and nice, plus an activity room and sitting room that looked really comfortable. It was very clean and orderly. "

"I went on a tour of Landing at Elkhart Lake. The places were beautiful there for independent living and the surroundings are gorgeous. But the price is out of this world. The staff was very nice after she went with us, but she was on the phone. While we were waiting, she kept talking on the phone. There was no other one around to help her with respect to her. She herself did a very personal job after she finally hung up the phone. Maybe she was the only person around to take care of it. So, I think they were maybe a little lax on helping. But she didn't even say, I'll be with you in a little bit. She didn't even put them on hold for a second."

"I have been here at Highlands for five years and I liked it very much. Everyone is friendly and very nice community. We have our own apartments and they have activities that you can sign up for. It’s a high end community and very expensive. I have a huge apartment with a fireplace and great room. It’s very nice and you have to be independent to live here. They have underground parking and building 51 new units. Grocery store is right next to us. It’s really a lovely place. "

"I chose Valley VNA Senior Care for my mother-in-law because of its cost and location. It's welcoming and spacious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We looked at the menu and we were there during a meal. We did not have a meal, but the food looked very good. They do their best to personalize individual requests as needed."

"We are leaning towards New Perspective Island Shores for my mom. It looked awesome and was everything that I could have expected. They have beautiful rooms, a beautiful cafeteria, and a kitchen. You can order food throughout the day. It's top-notch. They have one bedroom. You've got your own kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. The studio is the same setup, except that it's smaller but clean and fresh with brand new carpeting. The staff members were polite and very informative. You can have your own garden. You can cook out if you want and have your family over there. They do bus trips. They'll take you grocery shopping. They have a library. They accept pets there."

"Lakeside Commons has a good location. There are nice residents there. Most of the people are very friendly but a lot of them stick to themselves, too. They play bingo on Wednesdays. There are trips to the grocery stores but there is no other trip. They should have more activities. "

"We will be moving into Embassy Condominiums. I like the fact that it has underground parking, and it has a pool, a clubhouse, and a gym. They're very nice rooms. They have two bedrooms and two baths. They don't offer any meals or anything like that. The unit has got appliances, a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Every floor has washers and dryers for anybody to use. It's a nice place. Considering its age, it was built in 1972, it's very nice and pretty well kept up."

"Cedar Ridge Apartments had a pool. The food was excellent. The staff was good. They had the same activities as most independent places except they also had a handbell choir. The rooms had full kitchens."
