Accepted Answer

We do accept domestic animals but an assessment must be completed of both the animals and the tenant to determine level of appropriateness in the living situation.

What programs or activities does Southern Horizon Assisted Living offer to enrich residents' well-being?

Accepted Answer

Catholic, Lutheran, and Non-Denominational Church services in our Chapel. Musical guests. Happy Hour weekly. Baking classes.

Question 3

How does Southern Horizon Assisted Living keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?

Accepted Answer

If the tenant wishes for family members to be involved in the care, we will invite the family members to care conferences, wellness checks, and during change of condition as appropriate.

What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?

Accepted Answer

Each staff member must complete monthly training as well as in-services provided to the staff from management or the community (ie. dementia training, medication administration training, etc.).

What common areas are available for independent living residents?

Accepted Answer

There are several common areas available for our tenants: café, community room, conference room, wellness area, and great room.

Does Southern Horizon Assisted Living work with an agency or registry to provide nursing and medical assistance as needed?

Accepted Answer

If services greater than 28 hours per week are required for our tenants or if the tenants prefer outside agencies, we are contracted with several hospice agencies as well as home health agencies to provide extra medical and nursing assistance as need.

Our tenants are from 61 years old and up. Their average age is 75 years old. They prefer 1:1 socialization with each other as enjoying musical entertainment that is provided by the community.

What safety features or security measures does Southern Horizon Assisted Living offer to assisted living residents?

Accepted Answer

All tenants receive an emergency pendant, entry key fob, and separate apartment key. There are two main entrances to the apartments and you must use the key fob to enter during off hours.

Most of our tenants still drive. The ones do not have contracted transportation services through their insurance.

Accepted Answer

We have one RA per shift. As our community grows (in both numbers and level of care), the number of staff members will increase.
