"This facility is known in our city for its quality look, furnishings, decor and women's groups assisting it. There is a shortage across the board of C. nA and assistant staff in our area so all facilities compete. But Attic Angels has the feature of moving up or down--to more independent apartment or to more dependent nursing home and all part of the same facility. The place looks, smells and feels good. The food is a cut above the usual. There is transportation to shops all over town as well as a library, chapel and store in the facility. Usually waiting lists but check it out for yourself. "

"Waunakee Manor Health Care Center is a community-based residential facility. My aunt has her own room and they come and tell her when it's time to go eat or when there are activities so she can participate. She bathes herself and she dresses herself. They provide the activities in the morning and afternoon, and the food is great. They have a chapel there, there's a Lutheran church, there's a Catholic mass, they bring in bands, and kids from the local school come in and carol around Christmastime. They bring in pets like dogs. The layout is fine. It's always clean. They have a handicap bathroom, and you can bring your own furniture in if you want to. She moved there after her stroke and that's where she was doing her rehabilitation. The staff is very caring. There's memory care also and more assisted living as well. I only saw the rehabilitation portion and where she is now. They go and get them, they bring them out, and they try to keep them geared up for the activities. The pricing is good. It's very reasonable. This is where the hospital placed her."

"I am in an independent living facility called KindredHearts Senior Living. I've just moved in this February. My experience is wonderful. I'm in one of one-bedroom apartments. Well, it is only a couple of 100 yards to walk to the three-story building where the dining room is, and I could eat three meals a day if I want to, but I only eat a couple of meals a week. They also have a heated pool there that I could use if I want to. Also there is an office in the three-story building that has also a place where music is performed sometimes and other activities. I'm rating KindredHearts the highest rating, that's why I'm choosing to stay here. "

"Both my mother-in-law and my father-in-law did rehab here after a broken hip. The staff is very caring and considerate. They went out of their way to treat the residents with respect. It is a large facility, but kept in good condition. The rehab unit is newer and the rooms are larger but the rest of the building is nice also. They have a chapel which is nice for those who like to attend services on Sunday. There is a small room with tables and chairs and free coffee and cookies where families can gather. There is also a room which any family can reserve for a gathering free of charge. We used it for Father's Day and there was china and silverware and free coffee. The staff cleaned up the room after us. The Physical Therapy staff is available even on weekends to hasten your rehab. Medicare paid for services during this rehab, but because it is skilled nursing, Skaalen can get expensive once the resident is on private pay. They do accept Medicaid, however, once a resident is out of funding. The facility has a unique feel -- located in the Norwegian community of Stoughton, the common rooms and hallways are decorated with Norwegian rosemaling, making it look very homey and welcoming. "

"The staff was very welcoming, nice and all around in a pretty good mood. The food is not too bad tasting, and is healthy food for the clients. The clients are able to get up and move around and get excersise. They have actuivities for the clients and they provide entertainment every now and then for them, which they enjoy a lot. "
