I am in an independent living facility called KindredHearts Senior Living. I've just moved in this February. My experience is wonderful. I'm in one of one-bedroom apartments. Well, it is only a couple of 100 yards to walk to the three-story building where the dining room is, and I could eat three meals a day if I want to, but I only eat a couple of meals a week. They also have a heated pool there that I could use if I want to. Also there is an office in the three-story building that has also a place where music is performed sometimes and other activities. I'm rating KindredHearts the highest rating, that's why I'm choosing to stay here.

Tallgrass of Sun Prairie was closer to home. They forgot that I made an appointment, so whoever was supposed to take me wasn't there. The staff said that the independent living was like little cottages with not too many buildings. She showed us a 2-bedroom apartment right there in the building, and I was not impressed at all. She said, "I apologize that the person who was there has not completely moved out." I just didn't like it. I believe they offered one meal a day. The facility was an older building. They do take people to doctor's appointments and so forth. They had a cafeteria.

There are long, dark hallways and seem very institutional.
