"I toured The Waterford at Fitchburg. I was very, very favorably impressed. It's a beautiful facility. I thought the place was magnificent. I wish they had an opening. They showed me an absolutely beautiful two-bedroom. They're hospitable. They sent me home with lunch. They gave me a really delicious lunch. It was superb."

"My sister has moved into Quarry Ridge Retirement last week. It fits her needs the best. They had everything she needed right there as far as the staff cleaning and all the meals. It was just a very nice place. The person who was managing and doing the tour was very informative. We tried the food, and it was a five. I had one meal, but it was very good as far as quality and presentation."

"We toured Middleton Crossing, A Sky Active Living Community. The person we met with was Tawny. She was very good at what she does to make people feel welcome as guests. She remembers stuff, and she was spot on. Those we met all cared about our experience, the people who served the food, and anybody who walked past us. It felt like family would treat you. The food was good, and they had snacks sitting out. They can get it anytime, like a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit, which is really nice. If somebody needed a midnight snack, they could get that, and I thought that was really cool. It was not modern, but not everybody in that age group necessarily needs a high-tech modern doctor's office feel. They don't need it to feel sterile. They need it to feel homey and comfortable. You're not afraid to sit on the furniture, that type of thing, and they did a nice job that way. They were making improvements. They had a reading area, a game area, and a piano area. They were remodeling the workout area to make it bigger, which is very important because the body in motion stays in motion. These people need options."

"I visited Charleston House Assisted Living in Beaver Dam. The tour I did of their assisted living was great, and the place was great; it's just not going to work for my husband. The person who gave the tour was wonderful, and the rooms shown to me were big. They had different activities going on. People were playing cards, and there were those in the other unit who were also busy doing something else."

"The Rivers was friendly, quiet, and spacious. Care was like one-on-one. I had to wait a while because everyone was being attended to. I went at lunchtime. It needed some updates. It was like 70s, 80s style. The rooms were comfortable. The layout was very accessible to the bathrooms from the rooms. It's like family. It's warm."

"I will be moving into The Landing at 818. I liked the central air conditioning and the fact that the apartment had a lot of kitchen cabinets. It had beautiful appliances, a washer and dryer, a big walk-in closet in the bedroom, and free Wi-Fi. They had an exercise room with equipment like a treadmill and a bike. There was a big covered area with a full kitchen where we were planning a potluck so we could get to meet each other. They're going to be putting a griller out there in the summer, too. There was a really nice balcony. They had security cameras inside and outside the building. The management was awesome. They do not serve meals, so you do your own cooking. I'm not excited about the location of this place because one side overlooked a kind of rundown motel and then the front faced the main street. The other side faced a side street with houses right there. But I've got a unit that overlooked the side street and I'm up on the third floor, so I could kind of overlook the city. It's close to shopping areas. It's just a few blocks away from lots of little boutique shops. They also have a locked room for packages that are too big for the mailboxes that a fob key opens. If UPS delivers a package that doesn't fit in your mailbox, they put it in a larger box and then they put the key in your mailbox so that you'll know what box it's on. They also had an intercom system. "

"My sister-in-law is now at Sunwood Apartments. It's clean. They are very personable, and they work well with their clients. They have somebody around there all day, every day. I'm just happy with them all the way around. They have a nice common area, and it's really homey. You feel like you're walking into home there. They have different activities like potluck gatherings. When we were there, there were several people in the commons area working on puzzles. They have a whole list of what activities they have, and they have that posted everywhere. That's important (especially for my sister-in-law) to be able to socialize. Besides the commons area, they have little reading rooms and little visiting rooms (if you don't want to visit with them in their apartment). They have a laundry facility, too. Everything is right there. They would bend over backwards to help you with whatever you need, and so I'm very pleased."

"New Perspective | Sun Prairie was very nice and clean. It was a little bit old, but very warm, homey, and welcoming. The staff member was very welcoming when we first walked through the door. Jake, the director that gave us a tour, was amazing, very personable, and very friendly. He just made my parents feel like they were their top priority. He seemed like a very caring individual that really puts the residents first and their needs first. It was also very nice for my parents to walk into a place where even though some people need some assistance, they did not see a lot of people in wheelchairs. It had a very independent living feeling. There were a lot of activities going on. It was a very large community, with more units and more residents. We actually went upstairs and did a tour of one of the apartments that would be available. It looked peaceful, clean, nice, and welcoming."

"Olympic Village at Sun Prairie is a village of triplexes. Each triplex has its own garage. We like the fact that it has a garage. It's a little village that is not visible from the main road, but it's right next to a whole lot of stores and restaurants. When they give you an apartment that has been used for more than ten years, they put in new appliances, paint everything, and put new flooring in. The staff did a really nice job showing us around and she answered all our questions. We just didn't choose it because they don't have medical assistance on site. Otherwise, we really liked the place. It was well taken care of. The unit we saw was very roomy. They have a community center, a little library, and they do bingo."

"Angell Park was a lovely place. They have a coin-operated laundry but they have laundry hookups in the apartment. You have to get your own washer and dryer. It's in a nice neighborhood. The guy offered that if there's something too high to reach, they prefer that we call them and they'd come up like changing a light bulb or something. He's a very nice man. There's a waiting list. We looked at a couple of rooms and they were very nice. There was a community room. They had card playing night, craft night, movie night, something going on all the time as far as activities. It's very nice and very well-kept. What I liked about it was it had a security door. You had to wave a fob across it and then they had a door that you could go into and then a little waiting area and then they had a security-locked door."

"We like Hyland Campus very much and had put our names on the waiting list. You can start out in the independent living, and if you want to switch to assisted living you don't have to move. You can stay in your independent apartment and they will just charge you an extra fee for assisted living. We really like that idea. The facility was very beautiful and well kept. They offer many activities and shuttles that go where you need to go. The only thing we didn't like was you have to pay extra for underground parking, but I guess that's just typical. They provide all the appliances like the refrigerator and stove, including laundry equipment. They also repaint everything and put in new carpeting when you move in. The staff is very knowledgeable. Hyland Campus is the most reasonably priced among all the places we visited."

"I toured Liberty Square Senior Apartments. The lady was extremely accommodating. We could not look at an apartment just because there was nothing available. But she walked us through the ground floor facility and the common room. She gave us the pricing, and she explained that if we were placed on the waiting list, then they would give us a call and we could come down and take a look at an apartment as it opened up. She was extremely knowledgeable. She had been a general manager there for a long time. They don't offer food, but they have quite a few activities. They have one- and two-bedrooms. We got into the common area where they have a kitchen that if you're having a larger family function, you can reserve it. It was very well maintained and very clean."

"I am in an independent living facility called KindredHearts Senior Living. I've just moved in this February. My experience is wonderful. I'm in one of one-bedroom apartments. Well, it is only a couple of 100 yards to walk to the three-story building where the dining room is, and I could eat three meals a day if I want to, but I only eat a couple of meals a week. They also have a heated pool there that I could use if I want to. Also there is an office in the three-story building that has also a place where music is performed sometimes and other activities. I'm rating KindredHearts the highest rating, that's why I'm choosing to stay here. "

"We physically toured Talamore Senior Living. The tour was very informative. The manager was very pleasant, and she answered all our questions. We looked at a two-bedroom apartment. They have lots of activities. The nice thing about Talamore is that when you need assisted living, they bring people to your apartment, and you do not need to move out of the apartment that you're in. They just increase the fee to reflect what services you need. It's a nice business model. As for amenities, they have a place for coffee in the morning, a craft room, and raised garden beds outside so you can garden in the summer. They have an activities director. However, it was way out of our budget. They had 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 10 dinners included in the rent per person."

"Oakwood Village-Prairie Ridge is very nice. It's very large. The apartment I looked at was fine. Some of them are older. They have a whole new wing that's newer. Some of them have patios. There is a church, a woodworking shop, a beauty shop, and a huge restaurant. However, I have to pay a lot of money to go there."
