"I like Charter Senior Living of Madison. The atmosphere was more like an apartment living. It had a full kitchen and a patio or a deck off the unit, so I liked that. It was pretty bright and airy. It's newer and everything. The staff was nice. She was great. They waved and said hello. I like that it is pretty convenient and everything. It is secluded but still convenient. It is still close to the city. They offered all the different services for whatever particular point your loved one is at. The tour experience is good. The tour person was great. It was very clean and very well kept up."

"We physically toured Talamore Senior Living. The tour was very informative. The manager was very pleasant, and she answered all our questions. We looked at a two-bedroom apartment. They have lots of activities. The nice thing about Talamore is that when you need assisted living, they bring people to your apartment, and you do not need to move out of the apartment that you're in. They just increase the fee to reflect what services you need. It's a nice business model. As for amenities, they have a place for coffee in the morning, a craft room, and raised garden beds outside so you can garden in the summer. They have an activities director. However, it was way out of our budget. They had 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 10 dinners included in the rent per person."

"I toured Oak Park Place Nakoma. Sue, the director, was the most kind, caring, and generous with the time of any of the people. She was the most proactive in terms of follow-up and not pressuring you at all but just really being in it for the people. It's apparent that she cares about all the people involved and that they truly care about the residents and their families. It was a very good comprehensive tour. In terms of the condition of the place, I would say it was really nice and well-maintained. It's like a newer facility and it's nice looking. They have some nice communal areas. Currently, the average age of their residents is older than my father-in-law who has early-onset dementia. A lot of the patients there were in a little further and later stages of dementia, so that was a negative for us. Part of why we're looking at centers is so that my father-in-law can have socialization, but if you have a lot of bedridden or wheelchair-bound patients that aren't as social with the activities, that makes it harder. Their memory care unit isn't on the first floor, it's on the second floor, so their only outdoor space is a concrete balcony versus other places we toured that had memory care that had an outdoor patio with some green space. Since nature is a huge love of my father-in-law, that's a big thing for us. "

"Mom moved into Prairie Gardens. When we first took her there to tour the place, she immediately liked it. She liked the atmosphere, which was cozy and friendly. The food is wonderful. The plates and the food are always warm. The staff is very attentive, and they keep the call time to five minutes, ten minutes at the most. They come in and they ask if there's anything else that Mom needs help with. Anything we needed was gotten there right away. We are really happy and she's happy. Mom's room has a path for her wheelchair. It has a large bathroom that she could get into, and everything is arranged nicely. The facility is an older building, but is well kept. Within the one week that she's been there, they had a Halloween craft, bingo, and movies. They have a beauty shop on Thursdays."

"My mom moved to The Waterford at Fitchburg. These apartments are roomy and she got her baby grand in this apartment. They're like regular apartments. I am very happy with the size. The whole community's got all kinds of events and things to do all the time. There's a salon here. They have transportation. We went on a tour of lights for the holiday lights yesterday, and there was a Christmas party. The menus are wonderful down in the bistro. She's in an assisted living package. They offer different packages here as well. The price rises based on their assessment of your need for care. She has a full kitchen in her apartment as well. The price point was great for what we are getting. The staff are very friendly. They come up to you and introduce themselves. You have the same people doing the same things. They have physical therapy, cognitive therapy, and memory therapies downstairs on the second floor, right in the house that accepts most insurances. There's a movie theater that was just redone in the building. So they have movies. Everybody is great. I just had honey mustard pork, steamed zucchini, fresh strawberry shortcake, and cranberry juice for lunch. Some of the meals that I've had, I wasn't impressed with, but today's was good. It's not the newest one, but it looks new. There's a great sort of ground that is wonderful. There's a koi pond out here. You have individual balconies and underground parking that's heated. It's very comparable. All utilities are included. By early next year, cable is included, and the wi fi is included. Three meals a day are included."

"Sylvan Crossings of Chapel Valley was the first place that had an opening for my friend. I have not been in it because of COVID, but it looked really clean. They've had trouble keeping people and a cook came down with COVID, but they were friendly and they treated him pretty good. It's nice outside and it's only 1-story, so it's comfortable and it has a lot of windows. The staff that I've talked to was very helpful and nice. The cook has been there for many years and he's really good, and he'll be coming back in a couple more days, so a couple of the women chip in and cook for 20 people. Sometimes, he likes the food and sometimes he doesn't. This place is comfortable, well-kept and has good parking."

"Faith Gardens was fantastic, I would recommend them any time, any place. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The clients were smiling and all seemed happy. They have different size rooms, and each one had their own bathroom, a nice closet, and some shelves. The rooms were a decent size, and overall, we were highly impressed. "
