I moved to Villa Ciera Senior Apartments in Kenosha. They have very good management and very good maintenance. I had to do a maintenance call, and it was here in 10 minutes. What I like best is the community itself. It's very social. What I like least is that I have to be on a waiting list for underground parking. They do not serve food, but they do have an arrangement with a local restaurant that delivers meals every day. You can sign up to get meals every day, and they charge you $10 for a complete meal with dessert, which is fantastic. I think it is just a huge benefit, and you can pick and choose your days. For instance, they're having lasagna on Wednesday. On Thursday, it might be turkey and mashed potatoes. They change the menu, and the menu changes every week, so it is very nice. It is huge portions, too, so for $10, I get two meals. However, there is no actual food service in the community itself. The place is very clean. It is also very convenient that both the garbage and the mailboxes are indoors. It has an elevator, and there's a beautiful community room, which is very well utilized by the tenants. They have the Tenant Entertainment Committee, which has regular activities. I have joined a couple of card games. They have exercise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They do Wii bowling, bingo, and they have card groups that you're always invited to join. They're tenant-managed activities, but they're very good and such a wonderful group of ladies. It's a really well-run facility, and I think a lot of it is that the tenants have organized themselves, while the staff fully supports it. I believe that the level of service outweighs the price. This is also not a rent-controlled property, so it is self-pay, but quite reasonable. It's no more than what I was paying for rent in North Carolina, so it's very manageable. Also, I was across the country, so I actually had to tour this place through video, and I will say the building manager was very considerate to do that for me. If you're moving from another state, they would definitely go above and beyond.
