Assisted Living Reviews for Library Terrace Assisted Living

May 16, 2018

By Patsy54

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Library Terrace has been a God-Send for our family. We are now blessed with the peace of mind that comes with knowing our Dad is safe and well-cared for. We tried what we could to keep him at home. Senior delivery meals were often found half eaten. The turnover with in-home care was so frequent we were never confident or comfortable having so many different people coming and going. He wasn’t eating healthy meals, he wasn’t staying hydrated, he was at risk for falls, and he was either sleeping or watching TV most of the day. His quality of life was gone. Life has changed for Dad. He is getting regular, “home-cooked” meals; he exercises daily, he participates in activities with other residents and keeps updated on current events. His Suite and the surrounding common areas are well-appointed, but homey. The number of suites is small enough that he knows all of his neighbors and the staff. Activity Director Robin has become a member of the family; Campus Nurse Sarah is attentive to anything that he needs. He remarks regularly on how quickly a staff member arrives when he calls – even if it is just to open the twist off cap off a drink. He has his own Suite decorated just as he likes it; the grounds are beautiful and provide an opportunity for bird watching and gardening. He is truly living in a community and I can't begin to say enough about his new home.

Provider Response

Your wonderful review of Library Terrace is a reminder to us as why we love working with Seniors and their families! We are so gratified to hear that your dad’s move to Library Terrace has transformed his life for the better. We appreciate the kudos your family offered to our staff members. We feel truly blessed to have found and retained such an exceptional team of long term employees. Robyn, who you mentioned, has working with our residents for over 8 years! Thank you for the heart-warming compliments but also please let us know if there is anything that we can do to improve the experience for your dad or your family.

I visited this facility

It didn't feel as good as I walked in Library Terrace Assisted Living. There were only around 4 residents sitting around talking, but it was so noisy. I could not understand why it was so noisy because these 4 people weren't even talking loud. It may be the acoustics or the high ceiling. I don't know; I just didn't like it from the very beginning. I just talked to the one who showed me around. The whole place just kind of turned me off. I think they need to improve on the overall appearance and their presentation.

Provider Response

Thank you for your feedback. We agree that continued improvement is important for assisted living providers. Many positive changes occurred at Library Terrace during 2016. We wanted to make you aware that both buildings on our campus have had a complete update….. including new carpeting and painting throughout, remodeling of common area spaces, upgrading of the resident apartment kitchenettes and all new furniture, to name a few of the many improvements. We do have a lively and social group of residents who are engaged in many activities throughout the day. Admittedly, there can be quite a bit of laughter and high spirits when they get together. Our two full-time Life Enrichment Coordinators provide many opportunities during the day in which residents can be involved including our daily senior fitness program. Library Terrace is a good option for individuals who are seeking a smaller, more home-like setting in a long established single family home neighborhood. We continue to seek more ways to increase the quality of the services that we can offer to our residents and are participating in the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association Diamond Accreditation program. In October of 2016 Library Terrace was voted as one of the top two assisted living communities in the Best of Kenosha County people's choice awards. We certainly hope that you found a senior living community that was a better fit for your family member's needs.

Library Terrace Assisted Living has activities like crafts. It has a little room where they do puzzles, and they have exercise equipment. It's a small community, so they can give the residents more attention. Dad has a 1-bedroom which is very nice. It has 2 closets, and the size is good. The bathroom has a nice cabinet and bars to help him get up from his wheelchair. The neighborhood is nice, too. There are religious services, and they also have laundry services.

Provider Response

We very much appreciate the positive review! We are indeed gratified that your family member has chosen to live at Library Terrace Assisted Living. We continue to seek ways to enhance the services and amenities that we offer and welcome feedback from our residents and their families. Thank you!
