"My mother-in-law moved into Avanti Senior Living at Flower Mound. She is in assisted living, but when we checked out assisted living places we also made sure to look at memory care, because she'll eventually go to memory care. What I really like about Avanti's assisted living is that my mother-in-law was able to get a room with a little private patio. She loved to sit outside, so that was a game-changer there, and the people are wonderful. A staff member, I don't know what her title is, checks on us, and she's always available, and so is the nurse who's on call there. The facility is always clean. It always smells good. They have flowers out and it's very pleasant."

"My mom moved to The Mustang Creek Estates of Flower Mound. I loved everything about it. I loved the way they had it set up for the tenant. I loved that the staff have been very helpful and inviting. I love the programs that they have set for the tenants. They've answered every question that we've needed answered, and they've helped us with every step that we've needed help with. "We toured Discovery Village At Castle Hills. We liked it very much. It was our favorite. It had a nice apartment. The rooms were lovely and great, and the size was good. Everybody was super friendly, and they had wonderful amenities. They have a pool, which I like. Outside of the pool, I thought that the amenities were pretty typical of all the others in terms of being full of activity and full of things to do, but I was more impressed with the Discovery Village than the other two. I didn't see anything that I didn't like. It was just the closets that I didn't think were wonderful, and they didn't have double sinks in the bathroom. Another thing I liked about Discovery Village was that it had a washer and dryer and covered parking, which was reasonable. Stephanie was great, very informative, and organized. I also liked their dinner hours. They had breakfast and then dinner or lunch combined from 11:30 to 6:00, which was cool."

"The bedrooms at Emerson at Rosemeade Park were just too small. The community was nice and clean and everybody working there was very engaging. The only problem we found was the bedrooms were too tiny for the furniture that my sibling needed to put into the apartment. Other than that, the place was beautiful. It was very well kept up. The dining area was very clean and it seemed that the people are very engaging."

"My tour experience at River Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care was pretty good. Their room rate was over $5,000, their services for the care part were $1,000, and then there was the community fee, which I think was $2,000. There was also a pet deposit or pet fee. The place was gorgeous. It was a lot newer and beautiful. We met with the people there and looked at the facility. Everything was nice, and the dining room was beautiful. With all the tablecloths and menus on the tables, it looked like a fine-dining restaurant. They have transportation to appointments, which is nice. They have a personal care contract that you can put in place but it is separate from the other part of the personal care services you get under your contract. It is a separate company that you can pay to do things for you and charge by the hour. You have to pay for it yourself because that's separate from having a clause in your contract for personal services like stand-by for showers and things like that."

"Atria Carrollton was just as nice as the other place, but the location was good because it's near to where I'm living now and it's convenient. The staff was friendly and detail-oriented. They offered food, but I didn't try it. This facility was probably the largest out of all the ones that we looked at."

"My mother-in-law is here. The first 30 days are always the hardest for them to adjust to a new environment, but she's getting better there. We chose this place because it's all memory care, and the staff-to-patient ratio was 5:1. Her room is furnished, and it's nice. The dining area was clean and looks just like a restaurant setting where you just go into a table of four and sit down. They have an entertainment coordinator and they have courtyards that they can go out into, and they have TV viewing rooms that they can go into. So they stay busy. They have three outdoor spaces. They were very nice."

"Lakeview at Josey Ranch was extremely comfortable. It was built there with the senior residents in mind. All the furniture in the foyer when you entered was comfortable. The staff was on duty 24-hours a day, which was wonderful. We had a large lake behind it. As far as the scenery and everything, it was wonderful. It was right close to a couple of pharmacies and the location was wonderful. It was a nice place. They had five elevators. It was a larger place. The staff is almost perfect. They had people answering the phone and some of them were more conscious than others. They would leave the phone sometimes, but overall it was excellent service. The manager was very nice and conscientious of the needs of the residents. The maintenance people were on top of it. The food was excellent. They had three different meals prepared for just that day. You had different things you could order from the left side or the right side of the menu. Every Sunday they had a buffet style. They had about 12 of the stainless steel covered items lined up for you to get things from the buffet. The food was always very delicious. They had people serving you like a restaurant. They had tablecloths on the tables. They had ice cream for dessert. The common areas were very comfortable. We could go and visit each other. The mailboxes were to the left of the dining hall. They have the little humps in the door that your scooter or your walker could have trouble getting over. The activities were not very often. Other than entertaining, you could go play games and things if you wanted to. I did exercise four times a week and did yoga four times a week, and I loved that. It's worth it, for the value, for the staff, the facility itself, and the comfort. When you walk in the building you get a comfortable feeling."

"I'm a resident at The Remington at Valley Ranch. It's clean. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Their work attitude is very good. The reason I've given the food a four instead of a five is the variety. They do housekeeping every other week here, and they do a very good job. They offer card games, other games, music, and entertainment. Compared to other communities, I think the prices are very good."

"Atlas Point at Prestonwood attends to you very quickly, and they seem to care very much about your everyday living. They seem to pick the very food that's going to taste good and that's going to be appealing to each and every resident. It's always very, very clean, always upkept, and very, very spacious. They have good activities for all seniors that they can follow along with, and the administrator makes sure that they are well attended to. The value for the money is very, very good. It's pretty comparable to everybody around the Carrollton area."
