Colonial Oaks at Arlington was small. It was a 40-bed place and the people that were working there were very considerate and very kind. They seemed to have a lot of time to help you. My husband was in the memory care and they took the time to be with him and to visit with the family. The facility was very nice and well kept. They had a chef and the food was wonderful. The activities seemed to be very good.

About Colonial Oaks at Arlington in Arlington, Texas
Our community is FULLY secured Memory Care. All our exit doors will not open unless you have a code, no matter how hard you try to press open the door. I like to think of our community as a house with a handful of rooms. We also have a TV room and a living room. So, its just one large house that has a LARGE family inside! Our community is set up as a large circle with 4 neighborhoods that are at each corner of the building. The neighborhoods each have a different name just to help our residents remember what hall theirs is We have boats, Western, Flowers, and music. We have two separate dining rooms to help not to over stimulate each of our residents we do not have assigned seating, but our residents tend to sit in the same spot each meal. We have three beautiful courtyards two of which the residents cant access without supervision just because they open to the parking lot. But we do have our middle court that residents are able to go out to any time of day. We have a wide range of ages and levels here. We have the range of 62-96. We have high functioning residents that still have keys to their own rooms but then we also have the lower functioning residents who cant communicate only through words but with motions and noises. Our price is all included, and we are also age in place. So, lets say right now she only has three medications but then needs 15 pills it is still the same with no additional charge. This could also go with if she is continent now but become incontinent it does not add a price for toileting assistance, same with showering. This all-inclusive price would include Medication pass: no matter how many pills Showering: doesnt matter how many times or how much assistance Dressing assistance Laundry gets completed on showering days no limit as to how much laundry is needed to be washed. Weekly house keeping Daily bed-making and daily trash removal LVN Nurse on call 24/7 but in house during normal business hours We have train staffed 24/7 in the community we do not have agency in the building and every single person that is allowed to work with or around residents must get a 10-hour training course on the behavior and how to redirect our residents. 3 meals a day (8,12,5) 3 snacks a day (10,2,7) Basic cable TV hook up / WIFI All utilities except telephone Ability to participate in any of our RHYTHM OF THE DAY program led by our activity director. Sonya who has been in our community for 15 YEARS!! What we have to offer (your choice) We have two options of doctor who can see here at the community, so you dont have to arrange transportation to and from appointments We have a podiatrist who visit our residents every 6 weeks We have a beautician on site We have a physical therapist on site in case he needs strength-building. My husband is neglected. He's been there a unce November 1st and they have sent him to the hospital 6 times. They miss baths, doing his laundry and clean his room. Put him in a wheelchair all day in the TV room. Don help with trying to helpmhim walk. Don't offer physical therapy or any other medical outside source for residents. His medications are not being given properly. They have been changed 3x. Director not at facility. Have to text and email concerns. Service plan never given. Been asking for 6 weeks. He has had fractured ribs, bruises, black eye, bloody scabs on lips, eyebrow laceration. UTI, dehydration and fever. They don't know how all this has happened. I have to go and change and make his bed and tidy up his room. I sponge bath him, shave him, clean his ears, etc. Director suggested hospice. Still having problems with personal hygiene. Basically I'm paying for room and meals which he barely eats. Doesn't get assistance with eating. He weighed 181 entering this facility 6 weeks ago. Now he weighs 155!! I get lots of we care. I'll investigate, blah, blah. If I don't take photos and email and text, nothing gets done. A small white trash can, his xmas snacks and a gray blanket with his surname initial has been missing. No one knows what happened to them and don't care. His bed cover was white and after being washed in their laundry room, is now pink. I think his gray blanket was ruined in laundry and they threw it away. The marketing director that gave me the great promises and lies was gone when we arrived. No longer there. They didn't communicate with me so when I drove 5 hours to take him there, they didn't know we were arriving and didn't have a room. They called the director and maintenance and I moved him in. 29 minutes after I left to check in a hotel, I was called to go pick him up. He ended at a hospital in Ft Worth for 5 days. After that the director wrote in her clinical that he is aggressive so other memory care facilities won't accept him. He has parkinsons and dementia. This place has been a nightmare! I'm afraid what will happen if I give 30 day notice since I still live 5 hours away. I thought he was going to get better Healthcare in a larger city with only memory care and less residents. Wrong!

It was nice, newer, and had many amenities. Specifically, they had the dining separated from people who could not eat by themselves -- they were in one section of the dining room and the people who could feed themselves had a separate dining room. There was a small dining room for families when they would come in and bring food in for their loved one. They had a special room they called immediate room, and you could go in there and have some quiet time with your loved one, which I really liked. They had a garden, outdoors that were really nice, and a library. We very impressed with it, and they kind of draw it out for a moment.

I am very pleased with the staff here. They are super nice. They've been very helpful and they've been with me a 100%. I don't know how they could have been any better. My husband is happy there. However, there is one wing that does smell.
