"My mom is staying in Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville. The facility itself is beautiful. It's clean, nice, and new. We just have a little trouble with the help sometimes. We really don't feel like they're doing everything that they could be doing. We're having to take turns to go up and give my mom a bath and change her clothes because she wore the same clothes for four or five days, and that's kind of frustrating for us. I'm about an hour and 15 minutes away, and even though I don't work, it is time consuming to go up there, and it takes a whole day. Some of the staff members seem like they care, and some of them it's just a job. They have crafts and they try to do activities with them. They don't take them outside as much as I would like them to. I feel like all of them need to go outside when it's pretty. They don't do that a lot, and they don't encourage that a lot. It kind of aggravates my sister and me. I go two or three times a week, and every time I go there, these three or four ladies all they ever do is sleep, they never get up, and they don't go to lunch. When I go and talk to them, they would get up and move around, but nobody really seems to push that. The dining area is fine. The food is good if it is a non-resident eating it. A lot of the people don't have any teeth. They only have a few teeth. We've actually complained about it and had several talks with them, but the managers keep changing. You kind of feel like you're a hamster on a wheel. We get really frustrated with that because they bring like a big piece of ham, but nobody eats it because they can't chew it up and they can't eat it. My sister and I bring a lot of stuff from home and try to keep stuff in my mom's fridge and all, but everybody doesn't have that. I see a lot of them when they bring them their dinner or lunch, they just push it away because they can't eat it, and I feel so bad for them. The place itself, the biggest part of it, is clean and maintained. It's very nice. But I have to go in my mom's room and mop it. "

"We toured Manning Square. It was nice. It smelled good. The people were really nice and had all the information that I needed. The staff showed us the calendar, but I didn't read it. I know they go on field trips. They take the veterans on field trips and stuff. The staff was nice."

"I liked everything about Oakview Park. I didn't have anything negative to say. It was very clean. The members there were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. They had very spacious rooms, and I liked the vicinity to the common area. They're easy access, and they have well-laid-out living spaces."

"I did a tour of the Retreat at Easley. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They had pretty standard studio apartments. They seem to be very good and well kept. They have a nice open area for dining. They have small outdoor spaces."

"The Willows of Easley was very comfortable. They had a fair number of activities, but they had nothing beyond assisted living and that was a deal breaker. It was spacious and new, but not glittery. It seemed like it's been there for a while, but it had new architecture and there's constant maintenance going on. They had maybe five things going on every day."

"I toured Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff. I like the management. They seem to be pretty thorough and even knowledgeable of dealing with a patient who has some behavior items. The place has a very clean room. I like the layout. So everything is visible from the nurse's station and all the hallways have one nurse's station and you can look down each hallway. The entire facility is secure. You don't have to worry about them having to be locked down in one area of the building."

"We're going to live at Rosecrest. They have everything that we need. They have transportation services if you need it. The staff member was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very friendly. The atmosphere was excellent. We didn't meet that many people, but the ones we did meet were very nice. We will be in individual cottages and they looked well manicured on the outside."

"I love Summit Place of Anderson. It's beautiful, and they go out of their way. The lady is religious, and she actually prays with you; I really like her. It's just not in my father's price range. It's clean, and the room is much bigger than where he is at, and they don't share a bathroom. They have a little kitchen in the room, a microwave, and it's big enough for me to put his lift chair. They have bingo. The food looked really good. It has a good atmosphere."

"The Inverness at Spartanburg is a pretty good place, they take care of my grandfather just fine. I was looking for the least expensive community and this is the lowest one I could find, so I'm satisfied where he's at. The staff is pretty good, and hospice would also come in three times a week. They've got stuff and activities for the residents to do. They also have a TV room, puzzle room, and they've also got physical therapy. He's in a shared room there, but if you wanted you can get a private room and pay more money. He has to have his food pureed there."

"The staff at The Gardens at Eastside is wonderful! Each division is committed to the care of the residents. The first day my Mother and I toured the facility we met the Community Sales Director who set the welcoming and friendly tone that helped us know we had found the right assisted living facility! The nursing staff is all very knowledgeable about my Mother’s health, medications, and physical therapy needs. The dining/food service staff is attentive and make the residents’ nutrition and enjoyment of their meals a priority. The engagement staff offer a wide variety of activities each day to enrich the residents’ lives, encourage fun and a sense of community, and promote lifelong learning. The maintenance staff is available and quickly respond to requests; from hanging a picture, mounting a television, tightening a window blind, to securely attaching an adjustable, contoured bed rail. The executive/management staff is an integral part of The Gardens at Eastside community and are always available to residents, staff, and families. Each resident and family member is addressed by name and often asked how things are going and are encouraged to bring any issues of concern to their attention. My Mother, my family, our relatives, friends, and I are very pleased with The Gardens at Eastside and highly recommend this facility to seniors who are looking for, not only assisted living, but a welcoming and responsive community. "We toured The Pines at Greenville Assisted Living & Memory Care. It's family owned and operated, so we feel like they're going to pay more attention to what's going on in the facility. They have a great staff. The dining area is beautiful. It's like a little village inside. They have a nice garden and a front porch. It's a nice facility. I like the staff, too."
