My dad moved into Celebration Villa in Altoona. He can still have independence. He has his own room. There's a lot of activity. The staff is friendly. My dad has a nice, large room, and he can have all of his own furniture and anything he wants in there. The food was very good. My dad loves the food. They have bingo. They take them out for lunch. They play football games for my dad on the TV. They had a summer activity where they had a petting zoo and different activities, like swimming. They have a dunking machine. The living atmosphere was very nice. They have decorations and activities for all the holidays. Everyone is very upbeat. They have an updated fireplace. Any time that I text or call them, they get back to me right away, and give me updates about him any time I ask.

We've decided on the Celebration Villa of Altoona for my father. It's very nice, they were helpful, it's very clean, they had nurses, and the activities they do daily or weekly. I just felt more confident with my loved one being there. The staff member was very helpful in explaining everything to us, daily things that go on there, and what to expect going forward. And they also took a tour of the rooms. They were very, very nice. They have both studios and one-bedrooms, with just a small kitchenette area and a bathroom. They also had studios with a living area, with a kitchenette, and then the bedroom separate with a closet and bathroom. They occasionally take the ones that want to go out for events to like baseball games, poker for the guys, and bingo.

We visited the Celebration Villa of Altoona a couple of weeks ago, which is my choice, but I got to convince my brother. He's not excited about the idea, but I wanted him to go and see that it's not like a hospital or it's not a nursing home. It's assisted living. We didn't interact with the residents, but the staff I met seemed to be top-notch. I don't have anything bad to say about John (the guy who runs the place). He seemed to be a very dedicated man, and that's one of the reasons I liked the place. The place was more than adequate. It was set up where there's a common area and a dining room kind of like in the middle, and it kind of pokes off into four directions and at the end of each direction, there's another common area. There's plenty of common space there. The room was more than adequately sized. I was impressed with the size of the bathroom. It sounds like they do a lot of things. They take some of the residents out and go for ice cream at times. What little we talked about sounded good. I didn't want them to overload my brother too much with all these activities and stuff. They have a hairdresser who comes in every Tuesday, which is nice, for ladies to get their hair done or guys to get their hair cut. I think he said they have a hot tub or a sauna or something like that. I've visited it twice and once with my brother. I just don't know it well enough. If my brother was already there and I was seeing more things, it could be a five-star. I only met three staff members. A nurse evaluated my brother for his level of care, and she seemed very good and nice. I was introduced to one of the ladies who take care of the rooms. These people had all been there for 10 to 15 years. That says a lot to me about the staff that they would be there that long. The first time I visited there, I was getting ready to leave, and John asked me to wait a moment and went into the kitchen where they were making fresh cookies for lunch and gave me three cookies to take with me and they were very good. They were homemade cookies. They were still warm when he gave them to me. I can't rate the food, but John went on and on about how good the food is there. I've seen the kitchen and the common area, I've been in John's office and we saw one room. Everything I've seen and everyone I've talked to, I've been very impressed with. When we were there, they were starting a complete refresh. They were going to be redoing everything, the dining room, the halls, and the paints. They told me it was a long overdue facelift.

Celebration Villa of Altoona was nice. The people were very good. We walked in, and they greeted us at the door. They were expecting us, which is always a good thing. They showed us around and since mom was already giving us a hard time right at the door, they said, "Well, why don't we go look at your room." They tried to show where she would be living, which I thought was nice. They showed her where the dining room is, her bedroom, and different activities. They wanted her to talk to some residents. She didn't want to have anything to do with that, but they at least offered. They told her about some of the services. They showed her the courtyard, which was nice. They tried to impress upon her. The people were great. They were excellent throughout the whole thing. They said, "We see this a lot," but they were very understanding. I appreciate everything they did. They did a great job. It's a very excellent choice if somebody needs to go there and can afford it. It's a little bit pricier than some of the other ones. The people there were great and it's a very nice place and very updated. They were even going to remodel. My mother wanted her own room, so they showed her the actual room that was available. The rooms were very nice, clean, updated, and had good carpeting. The bathrooms were awesome. They had the walk-in showers and it's a very large bathroom. Everything was very nice, neat, and clean. There was an exercise room and a common area where they do activities and stuff. They also showed us another room where they do activities that's more like a kitchen-type area. It was a pretty good-sized room as well. The one activity room that we did see had a fireplace in the middle, which was very nice. The building was very neat, clean, and updated. Their meals looked very good.

I had an in-person tour of Celebration Villa of Altoona. It was a really good visit. They showed me all around the facility, discussed what the plan would be for my mom, and what the necessary steps would be to get her in there. The facility looked very good, very clean, and well kept. The staff was very helpful and thorough. He did a really good job of explaining everything to me. He said I could bring my mom there, and we could try the food together. The staff showed me the monthly calendar with all the activities on it. They have nice apartments. They clean, paint the walls, and replace the carpets whenever a new person comes in. They said we could customize it pretty much however we wanted.

The tour at Celebration Villa of Altoona went very well. It was a small facility with about 50 clients, it was very nice, clean and the people were very courteous. It looked adequate, it was nothing fancy but it was fairly nice. We didn't sample the food but I understand they have a good chef there, and the dining room looks very nice. They showed us the calendar of events. They have something going on every day and they have a director of activities. They were doing an activity when we were there. The staff who gave the tour was very good. The overall upkeep and cleanliness were pretty good as well.

Celebration Villa of Altoona is one of my favorites just because the interaction between the staff and the residents was phenomenal when I was there. Minimal staff was there because it was a Saturday that I went out. They have one of their managers on duty every weekend which is nice, someone can make a decision there. It's just a beautiful setting out there, and it's in Duncansville, it's up on a hill and as a residential area, but it's way back a dead-end road, and the wildlife runner just came running by while we were actually in our meeting. The staff interacting with the residents was the most important thing. The activities they spoke of, and I could see them doing would be number two. Number three would be just the location of the place and how it's set in a little rolling hill out there. The staff was very knowledgeable. Not only did he know the history, but he also spoke very highly of the owners, and how the conception of the whole place came to be. He was very easy to talk to, very easy to relate to. I could tell just by talking to him that he wanted to get to know the residents, not just the name, but he wanted to know what they were about, and what their specific needs were. He did show us to the dining area and it was packed full, the residents all looked happy and interacting with each other. The menu that he showed me was very diverse, and then even with the menu, he said if there's some special request, they could always add or subtract. They have outdoor activities, and he said the events coordinator would plan things to take the residents here and there to different events out in the area.

I went to see Elmcroft and the staff member, Dominic, was very helpful and informative. He walked me through the whole process and has been a good resource all along. It's assisted living, and I like their care, and their commitment to the residents. The food was delicious. They had a little sampling there for us, it was all very well prepared, and with lots of choices. They offer a smaller menu for the elderly that may not want a lot of a big menu. The place was very clean, very tastefully presented, and with lots of room for access.

My mom has just moved in and it has been very good positive experience. The staff has been very welcoming. My mom's apartment is lovely and very nice. It is a studio deluxe, so it has plenty of room for her things. There is a bed and a little seating area, which is very nice. They have a full schedule of activities. Food is excellent, too.
