My friend is a resident of Deerfield Village, and everything is fine so far. They have activities like arts and crafts and exercises. They serve three meals a day, and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. I met with the administrator and the woman at the front desk, who were very nice. It's an appealing place.

My daughter-in-law's mother was at Deerfield Village Assisted Living Residence. That's assisted living. They make the meals and do the cleaning and have a little apartment and a tiny kitchen. The food was not that terrific. There was not enough fresh fruit or vegetables, so the food was not great. And some of the care was not that great, too. The staff members were very sweet though. With regards to cleanliness, everything was pristine and very well taken care of. They had activities. They have art projects and sing-alongs and that kind of thing. It felt very welcoming. The room was lovely, too.

Deerfield Village Assisted Living Residence was all friendly. It's more in the country, so it's not on a busy street. They have a nice big patio and people were going in and out on there. They all knew each other and I liked that the staff called them by their names. It seemed to have good security levels, too. The outdoors were very pretty. They've got bigger areas and nice pathways. They're right next door to a huge park and a senior center, so families could take their loved ones for a little walk down to the park. The food smelled good and they had a wonderful menu. The tables in the dining room weren't too crowded. It's bright, cheerful, and very clean.

I'm living in Deerfield and I'm pretty satisfied. They have a lot of activities for people, we go on outings sometimes, and we go to a restaurant once a week. The people are good, the food is pretty good most of the time, and I have a comfortable bedroom.

Our father has been at Deerfield for 3 years now. We felt guilty about having to move him from our house to Deerfield. He had been there for about a week, when my sister and I went to see him. He said " I just want you girls to know that you picked a wonderful place for me, and don't feel guilty. The food is great and the staff couldn't be nicer". As my family got to know the place so well, we fell in love with the staff. They couldn't have been nicer to him and treated him as family. We would recommend this place in a heartbeat. It is a smaller community and one level, which was very important to us, as his Parkinson's disease progressed. We got to know the staff well and were always treated as if we were at home and we could make ourselves comfortable in all the public places. We also had our favorite staff members (you know who you are!!). Many have been there for a very long time. Unfortunately, our father passed this last week. They worked with hospice to keep him comfortable and cared for. He was very happy not to have to move to a nursing home. We love all of you and will miss you greatly. Thank you with all our hearts..

Deerfield Village was nice and clean, but I just didn’t like the setup of the studio rooms, and it’s a smaller place with only 30 rooms total.

I like everything about Deerfield. I’ve met only three of the staff members, but I like them. Their rooms are nice and clean. As far as I can tell, there is nothing to improve on.

The key words are ASSISTED LIVING. We were assured that our loved one's care would not be a problem, even when she became completely dependent. However, the more care she required, the more problems we encountered. Sky rocketing costs, cleanliness issues with both her and her surroundings, and it felt like an ongoing battle to make sure she received basic attention and care. Many, many meetings with management to address issues and every time we were assured our requests were reasonable and would be addressed. Until the next time. I really wanted to like this place but found it discouraging and upsetting. In my opinion, this would be a nice place if your loved one needed minimal care, but if a more advanced level was required, I would not recommend

My mother lived at Deerfield, Milwaukie, Oregon. The following are my opinions based upon what I saw and what was reported to me from other family members. Negotiate well early, because your cost will go up. They will tell you what you want to hear early and raise your price as soon as they can. The cost of my mother's care more that doubled the last 3 or 4 months she was there, if we had not moved her care would have been 7.7K per month. I believe this is due to the style of in house management. They seem to go through people, again in my opinion due to management. Food is average. We had issues with cleaning and personal hygiene constantly. If I had to do this over I would consider Foster Home, less expensive and much better care.

My mother moved into Deerfield in 2008. There were times when I was not happy with the management team and the facility. They have recently undergone a remodel and the place looks great. It is a small community which makes it feel more home-like.They also hired a new managment team including RN. Since these changes have taken place, my mother and I are very happy and look forward to many years at Deerfield. There are fun activities planned each week and I know that she is being well taken care of by the care staff.

We moved our father into Deerfield in February of 2012 and found the staff responsive and caring. Unfortunately our father started wondering outside and needed a memory care facility. We would have been happy to have kept him there. The apartments were nice and well kept. Food was good and our father liked it. The RN was extremely helpful and we knew he was happy there.

When my neighbor said that she was going to move to a retirement community, I was a bit shocked. I never pictured someone so independent (10 years alone after her husband had passed) even wanting to move to such a place. However, she seemed happy, and that was the most important thing. We came to visit her on numerous occasions. She seemed happy, well taken care of, and was even quick to introduce us to her new friends, which I think is an opportunity she never really got living next to us in the suburban sprawl. We even had lunch and dinner with her, to which the faculty was very pleasant. I miss her, but I know that she went to a nice place. She seemed to do her research. She also passed away, not too long ago, but I know that she was in good hands and in good company.

My grandfather was hesitant to go to assisted living but Deerfield's team has made the transition much easier for him and us. The facility is kept nicely updated and clean.

If you love your parents DO NOT move them in to Deerfield. The Executive Director will lie to you to get your loved one in there and then treat them horrible. Several staff members were rude and cussed at my family member and most of the staff members whine about how hard they work and how tired they are. And don't get me started on the Med-Aid giving my family member the wrong meds! My Family member is in a new place now. Thank GOD! It is such a difference...we love the staff at the new place and everyone treats my family member with respect...finally! Deerfield would be a much better place with new Management and a new staff!
