"My mother moved into Mercyhealth Care Center. The price is fair and reasonable, they take good care of my mom, and she likes the food. The people are very nice. They have activities for people that are able to do that. They have a beauty salon, a little dining area, entertainment that comes in, and they have workout equipment. The only thing that bothered me was that Mom slept through the meals a few times, and they didn't bother to wake her up, so she missed those meals."

"The rooms at Golden Years Assisted Living Residence are nice. The food is good. The dining room is set up buffet style. They have a choir, and they have different activities every day of the week. They do trips, and go places. My aunt is in a studio room which is very clean with a table, a TV, and a dresser. The atmosphere of the facility is nice. The residents seemed to be happy. "

"My mother in law was here for a few months. Every time I came here to see how she was doing she was very well taken care of by the staff. She was coming here and working with the Physical Therapy team. When she was with them they were doing a great job. They seems knowledgeable, and took great care of her. One thing I noticed was how clean the area looked as well. It was obviously well taken care of. "

"My father was admitted to Hillcrest after a hospital stay that left him very deconditioned and weak. The therapy department went above and beyond to work with my dad. He was not always in the greatest of spirits or in a good mood prior to his arrival. However, the staff were able to get him to smile and participate daily. Dads medical needs were addressed promptly and with care. The nursing staff was very friendly and pleasant. If dad were to need therapy in the future, I would definitely bring him back to Hillcrest. "I can't say enough good things about this nursing home. My father was a resident there for 6 1/2 years and throughout the time they took SUCH great care of him. We had taken him to a couple of other nursing homes and the atmosphere/care given to him just weren't cutting it. My father passed away last week and up until the very end they made sure everything was as it should be for him as well as those of us visiting. The staff there truly cares about their residents and my family is so grateful for the compassion and caring they showed to my father. "

"I visited the River Crossing of Elgin and it looked nice. I heard bad things about it when it was under a different name, but this being that it was different people, I thought I'll go into it. It looked nice and clean. It looked like there were quite a few people there. They were down in the dining room playing bingo when I had my tour. They share rooms and they have a bathroom on each one. They have an exercise room for physical therapy, but that's also a rehab facility. I'm sure that's why they have to have the physical therapy room. There was just one lady who gave me the tour and she is very nice. She explained everything. We sat down and talked, she took me through the tour, and then we sat down and talked again. I told her all the things that my mom would need help with, and she didn't seem to have a problem with any of that, because my mom needs help with everything, dressing, going to the bathroom, showering."

"Maple Crest was one of the better ones we found. The staff was fine, but I think they’re understaffed sometimes. I think the food needs updating because their menu got kind of stale. The rooms were small, and they had a physical therapy room, another room for activities, an aviary, and an aquarium. "

"We had to get my mother in a Medicaid bed, and she is now at Northwoods. We took her there during the middle of October. As far as the facility goes, I really like it. She is in better health. They have remodeled part of the building, and she is in the remodeled part, which is a four-bed ward. As far as the facility and room go, everything is kept clean and neat. She is diabetic, and the first week she was at Northwoods, she had an incident where her blood sugar dropped, and apparently they check up on the patients every couple of hours. Every time I have been there, they were really nice to her. She is being given baths. Her meals are mostly adequate. The dining room is nice and clean, but it is not big enough, so some people have to wait and eat a little later. They do have some rooms downstairs, but there aren't a lot of areas for family. "

"My family visited all of the CCRC's in the region and this was the first one that felt like "home" to us. Well appointed and well run (the staff is awesome) the surrounding forest preserve provided a unique setting very important to my parents. The flexible meal plan was the thing that cinched the deal for us, though. We're very happy."
