The place was very nice. I enjoyed the tour. The unit I was looking at is a one-bedroom apartment. They have arts, they have a happy hour, and they have all kinds of activities."

"The staff at Victory Lakes were superb. My parents lived in Independent Living until my dad passed away. The last 1.5 years my mom was in Memory Care. In each area we witnessed loving and caring employees who always had our parents best interest in mind. Victory Lakes was an excellent place for my Mom at the end of her life. The Catholic services, communion in home, visits with music staff, exercise and activities brightened Mom's day. The staff accommodated for our 7 sibling visits from out of state, Mom's dietary restrictions, medication changes and in the end, Hospice care for Mom. Fred was Moms' favorite nurse ~ he would sing to her and she would find great joy in that! It was a blessing to honor Mom and Dad's desire to live independently through their continuum of life at VL."

"It is very clean. The rooms are spacious, and the staff is very accommodating. The caregivers are awesome and my friend seems to like it. She is a level two memory care and they could go up to level six. So, that was a big plus for us. The day that we went to visit her, they gave us some sliders and some pancakes, and the food was good. Once you leave your room in the morning, you can't go back into it unless you need to use the bathroom. The doors are locked and they don't want people hanging out in their room. They have group sessions, tdo arts and crafts, do physical therapy, and play games. She'll play bingo, they watch movies, and they have visitors like dogs that come in. So, they keep the residents pretty active until it's time to go to bed."

"My wife is a resident of Alden Courts of Huntley. It's a very nice place. They take good care of her. They watch for everything, for physical problems and different things that come with it. Everybody's very caring and nice. They've got a whole calendar that they come out with every month. She does all sorts of stuff. The food was very good."

"We like Bickford of Gurnee. It's very open. There's a lot of light, a lot of movement, and a lot of activities for them to do. They have a garden in the backyard. My mom hasn't been able to get into her garden in probably a decade because of her knees, and they have raised garden accessible beds, so that's a huge plus for Mom. They have a crossword puzzle club, which is even better for my mom. The price is right around what we need it to be, and they are willing to adjust their pricing if necessary because they're working for the family. I like that they're willing to do that. They gave us some snacks, and they were delicious. We saw what everyone was eating because we came around lunchtime. We saw them preparing the food. It wasn't pre-packaged stuff that was just heated up; they were making the food there, so we really liked that one. I like the building and the layout."

"Sunrise of Gurnee was a very friendly community. It looked like more of a resort hotel than an institution. I was impressed with just the way it looked. It was very clean and well-organized. It looked like there was a wide variety of activities for the residents. It also appeared as though there was a lot of support for the residents there. The staff was very friendly. The apartments were very nice and very clean. There was enough room for a senior and there was a nice view of the outdoor spaces."

"They were very hospitable at Gurnee Place Memory Care. They were very kind. They answered all our questions. We're not going to go there because it seems a bit dark. As soon as we walked in, there were a whole bunch of people. I realized it was during their exercise time, but you couldn't even walk through the door without bumping into people. Everyone was very nice. We just didn't like the setup. It was too cramped. I don't want my mom to feel like she is being hidden away. However, the staff who gave the tour was very nice, and the facility was very clean."

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"My sister was living at Ciel Senior Living of Long Grove. It's very clean and very friendly. Their approach was excellent. Their food was sufficient, but it could use a variety. My sister's room was more than adequate. It's a nice size. She was in one with a bedroom, a front room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. They did Scrabble and bingo, and they went out for lunch."

"My dad moved to Sunrise of Buffalo Grove, and there's a strong feeling of community. Everyone seemed to care about the residents so much, and I was surprised to find out how well my dad was doing. He's put on some weight during those days. He's eating much better than he used to. He's more active, sleeping less, and doing very well there. The staff is excellent. They're communicative. My dad loves the food, and he's doing very well in this beautiful facility."
