"When I was being sent to Rehab, I was scared. I didn't need to be. I was so impressed. Everyone was kind, called us by name, were ready to help even if it wasn't particularly their job (e.g., the secretary would graciously wheel me down to the dining hall when I was having trouble. The therapists were so good. They knew this was scary for me. But they reassured me even though they pushed me to do my best. We got used to the comfortable routine. Even the food was good! Outstanding pumpkin waffles! And I didn't expect to get a personalized menu at each meal so I could choose what I wanted. I hated being in the hospital, but rehab was such a good experience. It was a comforting, healing place!"

"It is very clean. The rooms are spacious, and the staff is very accommodating. The caregivers are awesome and my friend seems to like it. She is a level two memory care and they could go up to level six. So, that was a big plus for us. The day that we went to visit her, they gave us some sliders and some pancakes, and the food was good. Once you leave your room in the morning, you can't go back into it unless you need to use the bathroom. The doors are locked and they don't want people hanging out in their room. They have group sessions, tdo arts and crafts, do physical therapy, and play games. She'll play bingo, they watch movies, and they have visitors like dogs that come in. So, they keep the residents pretty active until it's time to go to bed."

"I chose Bickford of Gurnee because it's one of the places that she and I had toured together. It's small, and it's all one level. Every time I called, somebody answered the phone. The staff was very friendly and very receptive. My sister and I felt comfortable with them, so those were the key factors. It's terribly expensive, but the communication lines are open, and they don't believe in locking people in the rooms. They have always been able to come out and stroll regardless of how locked down they were. My sister says the food is good. She cannot do a lot of activities, but they're keeping her active, and they try to make her do things."

"Autumn Leaves of Gurnee was beautiful and brand new. Scott, the director, was wonderful. My mother's only objection to it was because there were 18 residents living there out of the 46 rooms available, it was too quiet. My mother is a social person. I thought it was beautiful and nice, and I liked that it was all memory care versus a community home with a memory unit. I like the way it was setup with the colors and the rooms, and it looked like there was a lot of care taken in the design of the building. My parents have been invited to several events. I feel good about them inviting my parents to do things, and I thought Scott was a nice guy. "

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"The staff is so kind. The new owners have made so many wonderful upgrades. They had quite a bit to do. All is not finished but h they are working diligently to get it done. One of the best things about Storytime is how hard they do with whatever may come up. Just remember nothing is perfect, it’s hard to find people who try. They have many ! The apartments are all updated and very spacious. They have so many extra activities and amenities. To many to list. "

"My mom is here. The place is very pleasant. You enter it and it looks like a hotel lobby. Everybody has been very friendly and helpful. I had lunch there a couple of times, and what I had was pretty good. My mom's been happy with the food. I was there for an activity. They had a music program one afternoon. Her room meets her needs. Because my mom is in a wheelchair, there are still some obstacles for her to reach the sinks and stuff. It's not as easy for somebody in a wheelchair to get to the sinks. They have a lot of activities though."

"My mother is at Brookdale Vernon Hills. They're fine, and it's very nice. It is very good, except for the last year because of COVID. They have nice-sized rooms. They clean their apartments every week. They have not had anything available this year because of COVID, but they have a workout room and a library, they plan events, and they have a bus that takes them out to different events. My aunt lives there; that is why we moved her there, so that she could be with somebody. They may start next month, but they don't have anything going on right now. They used to go out to different restaurants, movies, or shopping."

"Galloway Senior Living is a very clean and very friendly facility. The staff member who gave the tour was very helpful. There was a game room, a TV room, or an area where people could watch TV together, and then the lunchroom."

"We visited Belmont Village, but the result is that she decided to go back to Japan. The staff is very cordial, and I thought that was a very friendly place, except the lady that they have worked for had less money to get in. The place is very clean, and it’s very comfortable. "

"My mom has moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. I like it so far; it seems nice. They care about their patients. My mom says it's good food and it's okay. She gets help with everything, dressing, going to the bathroom. It's really big, but you had to furnish your own bed and if she wants a TV. She doesn't have a TV in her room yet. Some people do, but she doesn't watch a whole lot as it is. I don't know if I'm going to hook up a TV or not, because they keep them busy and keep them out of their rooms all day long so that they can sleep well at night. In their activity room, there's a TV. They have a beauty salon. She got her hair done today. They do exercises and they have an activity room. They have two dining rooms, and they move them around a lot there in the activity room. They have three meals, and they have two snacks that I know of for sure per day; I think there may be a third one. They move them down to the dining room and then downstairs they have a full big bar, where they can have a glass of wine or a beer if they want. They have a bathroom down there, and a big family kitchen where people can go in and say we're going to celebrate Thanksgiving. They told me that a family cooked a whole meal, turkey and all, and they had their family there to eat. They have a big room for that and another activity room down there where I saw them playing bingo. The place is huge, it's really big. They move them around, and they don't let them just sit in one room. On Wednesdays, you can call ahead and go downstairs in the basement. It's like restaurant-style. There's a bar, a booth, and then there are tables in the middle. It's like dining in a restaurant, and we did that with her last Wednesday. My daughter and I, ate with her; that was kind of nice. The meal last Wednesday was delicious. I went back for two tours. The director said that they have their own chef that's been there a long time and that all the food is delicious. I asked my mom different things that they've had, and I asked her if she liked it, she said the food is good. The reason I went there, to begin with, was my sister-in-law's mother-in-law. They had just put her in there; she's the one that called me and said to take a look at the place. Everybody has their own room, there's no sharing a room."

"My Dad was in Re-hap at Radford Green, Sedgebrook, The rooms were clean and nicely designed. My dad was 94 and they treated him wonderful. The Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy were amazing. Kelly & Rod and the rest of the team took time and were very caring and patient with him. If your dad or mom needs re-hap I highly recommend this Place. The nursing staff, & Social Workers were great with him too. He went from needing complete help to being able to do thing with assistance. Thank You the Staff of Randford."

"I went to Addolorata Villa. It was a very pleasant tour. It was an older building than the other one. Because I am a Catholic, it offered the religious services that I would like. The woman giving the tour kind of focused on activities and seemed interested in learning what my interests and hobbies were to make sure that we were making a good fit and I think it could be. I felt they had a very good activity schedule that you could be as busy 24/7 if you cared to be. There was a very pleasant large deck-type area where they have the raised beds for gardening, which appeal to me. I don't do any gardening at my home because I can't get down on my hands and knees, so I thought that was nice and pleasant. It's a very pretty campus. It kind of reminded me of a college campus. We were thereafter lunchtime. We weren't offered a meal, but she offered beverages and snacks and brought a large basket of snacks in while we were talking."
