"I like that Addolorata Villa feels like a family community. I like that the residents were out setting up some of the Christmas decorations and the chef stopped to talk to us and there was a guy who mans the gym area like he's there all day. It's just a nice feature. The staff was very friendly. It was clean. One of the drawbacks is that it's kind of spread out. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I only saw two-bedroom rooms and they looked comfortable."

"Radford Green took great care of my mom The rooms had beautiful views and my mom had a private room. The care was excellent and very attentive, the place was very clean, warm and friendly. Highly recommend."

"We liked the physical structure of Franciscan Village. We liked the layout of the exterior, the community where it's located, and the setting. It's in a nice wooded area that's pleasant and a little out of the way. The layouts of the independent living cabins/housing units were nice and spread out a little bit. They've got a common area, a chapel, and a bistro place. It was all very nice. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable."

"Marian Village was expensive, but the whole atmosphere, the staff, the graciousness, and the beauty was what I like the most about the whole environment. They have lots of activities, the food is delicious; they serve one meal a day. I would recommend them although it’s a buy-in facility. "

"I was given the tour by the director at Jennings Terrace. They had individual rooms, and you could rent a single room or a double room. It's a very nice place, it's well staffed, and it's very clean. They had excellent dining rooms. "

"My mother will be moving into GreenFields of Geneva. We chose it mostly because of the location. It's very close to one of my other siblings. She'll be going to memory care. I like that there was a separate dining area like each area was separate. It looked like a smaller dining space for memory care and the unit itself was in a U-shape. They have nursing staff available 24 hours a day. The staff during the tour was great. She gave us a lot of information, was upfront, and has helped us through this process as we are starting the move. What they had to offer in terms of activities and the availability of physical therapy and speech therapy is five stars. We have to have a doctor prescribe that, but it's nice that it could be onsite."

"Both of my parents lived at CBH. They started out in Independent living. After my father passed away my mother went to the 3rd floor. I work in another senior community. I can not say enough about CBH. The care, compassion, cleanliness, activities, encouragement for the residents and family is unbelievable. They are a family, they make everyone who enters feel like family. My mother passed away but I still stop by to see some of the staff that was so kind to me and my parents. "

"5 star facility! beautiful gym, great staff. On Sunday they had an amazing Fall Festival with a petting zoo, pony rides, hundreds of families from the area- was a truly wonderful event. Highly recommended!"

"My aunt stayed for 3 weeks at Presence Resurrection for more like a respite stay, and she really enjoyed it. It’s a long-established building, the building itself needs some upkeep, but the atmosphere is very nice. I thought the service was excellent, but overall, the menu could have healthier options, and it was pretty heavy on meat. She has a trial apartment, it was small, and they need some upkeep and maintenance. They have plenty of land to walk around."

"Alden Northmoor Rehab & Hcc was clean and kind of on the newer side compared to the other places we toured. I just met the coordinator and then I met some of the therapy people, and they were all very nice. It was not crowded. The shared rooms were very nice. They don't eat in their rooms, they eat in the dining area where they could be with the other residents. If you wanted to go and eat with your friend or a family member, you could eat there with them in a separate room or the dining area. The food comes out of the kitchen and it's not on a cart, and I was impressed with that. They had a library and a place if you wanted to exercise. They had a patio and they had games. When I was there touring, it was somebody's birthday and the family came and they had a birthday party with a little birthday cake."

"I was in here two months ago. That place wasn't that big but they were nice and friendly. It's not as fancy, but it's very clean. If you don't like their food, they will get you what you want to eat, and they will make it for you. They have everything. You could use the Internet, and you could even hook the internet up on your TV, so you have a bigger screen. Everything you need there, they have. If you need something that they don't have, they will go out and get it for you. If you like ice cream every day, they'll serve you ice cream even in the morning, serve you anything you want. That facility to me was probably one of the best. It's not as fancy as the one I am in right now, but it's not horrible looking either. They had the friendliest staff I ever met, even from the nurses, the doctors, all the way down to the CNA. They go around, they joke with you, and they make you feel at home. They have all kinds of activities, and you could do a lot of things. I just got out of there like two months ago, some of those things are limited because of the Covid 19, which most of the other places have as well. It's a very good area and very safe. It has a huge parking lot. So, if you have visitors and they could come in and visit, you don't need to worry about parking. It's a very unusual building looking from the outside, but it's very clean. What I mean by unusual is it has a different architecture."

"My brother is in BRIA of Elmwood Park. He has dementia, and he's going to be there for a little over a month. Our experience has not been great. When you first walk in, there is security. You have to be buzzed in and it is a location that makes sure that he can't get out of the building. When you arrive on the first floor, it's a beautiful entrance. You take the elevator to the second floor, to where my brother is, to where the memory care patients are, and it's very dark. It's too hot in there. The air-conditioning doesn't work. There was an incident where I went to visit my brother one day and there was a gentleman patient, and he was walking around without pants. I went to the nurse and I said why is that happening and she said, "He does that and we're trying to work on him." He walked around like that for a good couple of hours. I went to the manager. I complained about it. Eventually, he did go put his pants on. It's not the first time it happened. If he was my parent or my family member, I would be very upset about that because it's humiliating to him and I was very upset because my family member was there. The majority of the time, the food is delicious. They serve him three meals a day and he eats everything. I've witnessed dinner and lunch and eight out of ten times, the food is really good, but one time they served him a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner and a small bowl of fruit, and that just didn't seem like a good dinner to me. Sometimes, his dinner is like a full plate of protein, and vegetables, a full meal, two or three things on his plate, plus a salad. Sometimes, it's just a grilled cheese sandwich, so I don't understand the logic in that. I was not happy about that. They can't go outside. There's no outside. There's no patio or a porch or anything where the residents can go outside unless they smoke cigarettes and then they get to go outside four times a day supervised by a staff member. That seems so ridiculous to me that going outside and getting fresh air is very healthy for you, but the only people who get to go outside are the ones who smoke cigarettes, which is an unhealthy habit. The other thing is the bedsheets are paper thin and all the beds and the pillows have to have plastic on them, so you're pretty much in a room that's too hot because the air-conditioning doesn't work, there are no fans and you're pretty much sleeping on plastic or rubber. It's not a very comfortable accommodation. I have had their food and it's inconsistent. Sometimes it's delicious and sometimes it's not. You get what you pay for pretty much."

"My uncle is in Generations at Regency for short-term rehab. He had a stroke, so they are helping him rehab his right side. They have physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The staff is exceptional. His room is roomy and very clean. They keep the facility clean. Everybody is very nice and helpful. Anything that we need, is taken care of. He does not like the food though. We like this place. I would recommend them."

"My husband was in Celebrate Senior Living of Niles just this past month. He wasn't even there for two weeks and now he's in the hospital. He's in the nursing home section and they have a floor that's strictly for that. I chose them because they had 5 stars on the Medicare site. He had a very nice room the first week that he was there, and he was very well taken care of. Even when I came to visit, they let me know what was going on with him and what was done. On the second week, he was transferred to the other side of the fifth floor because they needed his room for a COVID patient for isolation supposedly. When he got to the other side, he didn't get nearly the care that he got in his first room. They didn't check on him. They were very short-staffed on that side and people didn't know what they were doing or what needed to be done. They weren't told that he needed to be fed and all the care he needed like in the first room he had. He had complained of chest pains to the nurse and the nurse instantly went and called an ambulance, and then he was taken to the hospital and he's been in there the past week. On the first side, the staff was really good. They were very friendly and they took care of him and they fed him and they told me what he ate and how his day was going. On the other side, he got very little care. They did not feed him or take care of him. He was in pain and when he asked for something for pain, they didn't come and give him anything for pain. They had physical therapy and different programs on the first side he was in. The people on the other side that he was sent to didn't need as much care as my husband. They were able to be in wheelchairs and taken for recreation and many other things. Some of them had Alzheimer's and memory loss and so forth, but my husband is bedridden because he has Parkinson's and he needed a lot of care. I didn't happen to see any activity, but one time I happened to sit down with one of the residents enjoying the day and he said he liked it there. I hope that they treat my husband well when he comes back there. It's an older building, and I saw that they only had two elevators and one was broken. It's a little pricy, and I didn't expect it to be that much."
