Nursing Home Communities in Mystic, CT

"The place that that had continuing offerings for care that was the most affordable was Fairview Retirement Community in Groton. It's a very nice place, it's a nice location, and the apartments are good, and they're very affordable for me. The people are lovely. It's very lovely. They only have like 30 apartments for independent living, but they offer everything after that all the way to skilled nursing and everything. It's a very realistic choice. It's not luxurious like so many places. It does not have a food plan, which for me is fine because the apartment comes with a full kitchen and you're going to use it, so you don't need to have a food plan. The staff is patient. They answer all the questions. They're lovely, they're enthusiastic, and they're very welcoming. They are not doing heavy sales thing. They have a little café, and you can order from there and have it delivered to your space if you want, or to the little dining room they have, but they do not have a food service. I think that's why the cost is much less than a lot of places. It's a rental, too. You don't buy in there. It's truly for independent people. You can hire some help to come in if you need assisted living. They don't have a full area for that, although they have assisted living assistance, but it's not included, and you would be paying for that. They have a nursing home, which was what the original facility was all about. They just renovated it in 2010. The one large building they have, they renovated it, and put apartments in instead of having all nursing homes. "

"My wife is at Royal Health Westerly, and it's a very clean and spotless facility. It's bright and pleasant. I would say it's terrific. I would describe their staff as wonderful. She's just been there a few days and they are so caring and kind. I've spent a lot of time with me and her to just understand their basic needs. She's been in some other nursing homes but their interest in their patient, their kindness, their caring, their level of understanding about her problem, and their patience is great. I couldn't say enough good things about my experience over the last several days. There have been more activities there in the few days she's been there than all the other two places in all the months put together. There are multiple daily activities, there's entertainment and religious services there. The staff themselves take time during the day to sit and talk to her. Across the board, there's just an extremely high level of attention from the staff to the people that are there. They seem to care. And the level of attention they give the people there is terrific. They are certainly not understaffed; there's plenty of staff there. I would give them an A rating. They're very good. My wife has been in a couple of places, so I have that background. The place is not like the nursing home setting. It's a home. It has a very homey atmosphere. It's very good. The food compared to the other places is very good. For the number of staff and the amount of effort they put into it, I would say it's very fairly priced."

"After pneumonian & epyemia I was in rehab here for 2 weeks. Dr. Dononvan and all the staff were excellent,patient friendly and very caring. The administration was very helpful, therapy helped me get back on my feet. I highly recommend this facility. Tim Fleming "

"On several visits to Beechwood I was impressed with the friendliness and caring approach of the staff, and the cleanliness of the facility. For patients and family, convalescence may often be slower than expected. The PT and nursing staff really do their very best to offer hope and reassurance along the way.Thank you for your caring support. "

"Mom is already going to be placed at Westerly Health Center. She has been there on respite abound six times, she is familiar with it, the staff is very good with her, and they actually wanted her to come there to be placed. They've got all kinds of activities. They have an activities director that has things going on all the time. She got involved with a group, they were making flowers and baskets, and they have time where they play Bingo. They play all different kinds of activities. They also encourage skills like with the ball -- a soft ball, an earth ball, and all that. They really have a lot of things going on. They go on trips and all that. It is excellently kept. Westerly Health is among the best that I have seen, and I was very impressed. The attitude of the staffing is just outstanding. Everybody from the nursing staff all the way down to the housekeeping staff and all that always stop what they are doing, say hello to you, and it doesn't matter how many times you've gone in there; they always greet you with a smile. It is really nice; it is a good place. Mom is going to become a permanent resident on the 1st of June. This was it -- hands-down for what our needs were for her. "

"Fountainview Care Center was clean, it was nice, and the help was alright. Everything was alright. I was a patient there three or four times. The staff was very good, and I had no problems with them. "

"My mom chose to move into Apple Rehab Clipper in Westerly. It is owned by a private family and there's a couple of them. It is excellent. They seem very open to speaking with the families. I've called them a number of times and they tell me to call them for whatever we need. They were very thorough, and I have to say very professional. Everything I'm looking for, and I actually took my mom in there, she got to speak to the ladies. Obviously she didn't get to tour the place and I didn't get a tour of the place. What they did was they took a phone and they took a picture without the residents there, because of privacy issues, but they showed us where her room was and what it looked like. They did the best they could considering COVID. I only saw the room in pictures, but it was spacious, clean, and roomy."

"My Mom has been here a few months now. The place is always clean. Everyone working there are polite in every way. The takes very good care of my Mom. I visit her about 5 times a week. I recommend Greentree Manor to anyone looking for a nice place to care for their loved ones."

"Regency Heights is a skilled nursing home and the person that we placed there liked the facility. They also accepted the insurance that we have. They have case management and social works. They have activities and programs available for the residents. The residents are also enjoying the activities. There rooms are congruent, not private, but shared room. "

"I am appalled at the way the conditions have been becoming over here. The floors are taped because the floors are coming up, the only time you see aids when they’re on their cell phones in the hallway, can’t get your loved one changed and it’s 11 AM, there is absolutely no compassion in this place! Upon arrival today to visit a loved one there was commotion at the nurses desk they were getting ready to discharge a patient to the family because they were appalled and disgusted of the treatment that is given to their loved one! I believe it’s time to move on, and for the people that work there don’t do it for the dollar do it because you have a caring heart!! I don’t know how many times I have talked to head people in there but it looks like it goes to a deaf ear!"

"I had my knee fused following a motorcycle accident. I was a resident at Bride Brook Health and Rehabilitation Center for duration of four month. During this time I received medical treatments, and physical therapy at this location. I was able to be in constant contact with my family and friends with the availability of the internet and the personal telephone. I was not impressed with the meals offered here but certainly have had worse during my days in college at the cafeteria. I was the youngest resident and received much attention from the older inhabitants of Bride Brook Health and Rehabilitation Center. The staff was relatively responsive although I did not have any dire situations that required immediate assistance. The amenities are slim and I did not use them due to the nature of my visit and also my lack of interest in movement. I would give them a four out of five rating. "

"Norwichtown Rehabilitation is a nursing home and rehabilitation. They have a lot of staff, they're very helpful, and it's very easy to inquire how my mother is doing. There is always somebody that will answer or refer me to the right person so we're very satisfied with it. The staff is very efficient. They have books, puzzles, and a game room but my mother's not able to do it right now. The rehab is very good too. There are a few family rooms there too and there is a salon. There are also certain doctors that come in. They've also done a lot of renovations in their facility. It's a well-maintained community and it's close to home."

"I've been to Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care Center and I loved it. I hated to leave. I was very happy there. They were very nice. Everybody was very kind. They help you if you need help. When you push the button, somebody would come and would take care of you. They're very attentive to my needs. I was there for a little bit because that's all my insurance would allow, but I would've loved to have stayed longer. Everybody was great. I have no complaints. They had somebody that came in and sang every Wednesday and they had bingo on Saturdays. I don't really know what else because I was recuperating. I was really not in any shape to be going down and participating in what they had, but they had a big list of things that they had on the back of the door when you went in, so you could read and see which day they had what on. The price was the same as any other one would have. I would go back there in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even consider looking at any place else for myself because I was that pleased with them."
